Progress on Case 3 (as of 25/2/13)
Story - 100%
Scripting (in comparison to the whole thing) - <40%
Sprites - 70%
Music - 95%
Graphics - 60%
Progress towards part 1/2 - 90%
Part 1 status - Addendum

Yes, both trials and investigations have been dealt with for the most part (touch-ups are still needed here and there), and now I've moved onto the "addendum". Without spoilers, this "addendum" will be a flashback investigation. I won't reveal who the playable character is or when the investigation takes place, but it is necessary in setting the scene for Part 2.

Thanks! Wish I'd been faster with it as it's been nearly a year and a half since Case 2, but hey.
Lol yeah. "Addendum" just sounded better than "a bit on the end".

Interesting... A necessary investigation made by a secret playable character?

Anywho, looking forward to Case 3, Cardie.

I now have four beta-testers. That's probably enough I think.

1. Ropfa
2. Darth Wiader
3. DudeWithAMask
4. Joekertrack

I'll let you know once Part 1 is ready.

There hasn't really been much to say recently, but I'm actually almost done with Part 1. But I still have a lot of parts to go back and fill in, so it still won't be ready yet.

I update the little percentages on the main post from time to time (don't ask how I try to keep them as accurate as possible xD). So any time I'm not posting much, the percentages are always going up so keep an eye on them.

Oh god, I am so sorry I never answered your PM, because my exams started (and I am still not done) and totally forgot about it. But I am really happy to hear you are "nearly" finished with this monster of a project. I would still offer my help after finally finishing all of my exams (which would be at the beginning of April), if you would need any help with reading or anything.

Well... Part 1 will only be about half of the whole thing :P But thanks! Yeah, it's been in the works for nearly a year so far and it's only part 1... I'm scared to think of how long Part 2 will take.

Just another little thought/update/thing...
Looking back at the older cases, there were some things I wish I could change now that I feel I've improved in my abilities since then... namely the music. No doubt I've made some odd choices with music in the past, I can't deny, and it's been on my mind ever since Haunted Turnabout that I should improve on the past cases when I have the time... again, namely the music.

Spoiler: Possible music changes
* First of all I want to change the Cross-Examination themes from the AJ ones to the T&T ones. They would be more appropriate for this point in the AA timeline, and the AJ C-E themes are driving me nuts now! xD
* I might want to change Robert Snow's theme to this. Sounds a lot more appropriate for him, I think, instead of the random choice of something from the SmackDown! PlayStation game. This track will appear in Case 3 anyway, as a "sort of" alternate theme for Snow.
* The "Vinnie to the Rescue" music from Scapegoat... Yeah that has to go. xD
* I want to change the Cadenza "Court Lobby" theme in Scapegoat back to the classic theme (the one from PW:AA) like I have in Case 2.
* I want to change Maya's Cadenza theme to the JFA version.
* I might want to change the trial music too. Sounds a bit too orchestral for the likes of AA. (That's not to say that some other tracks aren't inappropriate for AA, but it really sticks out to me for some reason.)
* I want to change the theme on the train in Case 2. For some reason.
* Maybe some more replacements will come to mind in the future, but for now this is all I can think of.

...But seeing as the game has been well received so far, I'm not sure if I should just leave the music as it is if you guys are happy with things the way they are. Or maybe I could release an optional music pack at a later date or something. Any thoughts? :eh?:

Alright, my oppinion for your points:

1.) Well, I woudl say screw the timeline in case of music. But that's just personal taste. I for example think the one from T&T is the worst, I like the one from AA the most, especially the allegro one. So no real oppinion on that one.
2.) I liked his old one, but that one is also great. And I have to admit, it probably does suit him better. xD
3.) I totally forgot what this theme was and when it played until I heard it. I remember the theme, but I still don't know where it played. So it couldn't have been that important anyways. xD
4.) Personal taste, but it might be better to not change the court lobby theme/court theme/whatever theme throughout the different cases, simply because it doesn't sound like a whole "game" then, imo. Exception might be made for the "old" scapegoat case, but I would still use something else then the cadenza theme. It's just to different, imo.
5.) See above, cadenza does sound too different, imo. So a good change.
6.) The trial music is something I really like. It does sound like it could really play in one of the official games, so I would not change that one.
7.) ...what does play there? xD
8.) Yeah, well, okay! xD

I also am still waiting for someone to finally use this theme and it's remixes as an "Objection!" and "Cornered" theme for their games. xD

And there would even be a third option available!

That's pretty much what I would've said regarding it too. But if you personally prefer T&T, go with that.

I can't remember what some of these are, unfortunately, but:

-I don't have much of an opinion on the cross examination music (the only one that really would feel off would be the GK2 cross theme even though I like the Presto 2011. But, this is probably because the cross themes are similar to the Great Revival theme, which suits Edgey anyway).

-Hmm...not sure what to think about Snow's themes. The one that is being used currently is rather dominant particularly when it runs that riff from 00:16 onward in the.ogg file. The Sims' suggestion is almost is a polar opposite in that it is a very laid back-easy to listen to groove style theme.

-I agree with cutting Vinnie's theme. It plays once if I remember right and it really doesn't add any element of drama to the game. Plus, it only becomes catchy after 00:41, but I don't remember ever letting the theme run that long when I played your game.

-I don't remember any of the cadenzas, so any change I probably wouldn't notice too much.

-I personally like the orchestration of the intro trial music (the Soul Calibur music?). It gives the court a majestic ambiance, which I feel works in the courthouse.

-The train theme feels admittedly more like a "relaxing in a forest" than a "relaxing on a train" theme. Don't really have any replacement suggestion though as it does sound nice.

1. Really? I've always thought JFA had the worse C-E themes. Maybe the AJ ones do work for some people, maybe it's just because I'm personally sick of hearing them so many times now xD
2. Yeah I much prefer the Sims one. The SmackDown one was just random, don't know why I used it in the first place.
3. Again, no idea why I chose to put that one in. I'll probably replace it with a "Core" theme.
4. The reason I wanted to change it back to the AA lobby theme is because of how Scapegoat had the Cadenza and Haunted had the AA. Sounded out of place so I wanted to give it some consistency.
5. Yeah, it MIGHT have worked if I used all Cadenza, but the music differs too much. Sometimes I wanted Cadenza, other times I wanted the music to sound "DS-like".
6. Yeah I guess it's not so bad.
7. It's some ambient song I thought fitted the scenery.

Spoiler: Ropfa
Basically I wanted more PW-related music because of wanting to find music that sounded more DS-like. But then again I've been hit-and-miss with that anyway, so yeah I guess it doesn't matter too much what I go with for the C-E themes. Like I said to Marston, I was just sick of hearing the AJ C-E themes over and over again xD

Spoiler: Nodetails
1. I wasn't planning on using anything from the GK games anyway. More suited to those games, really.
2. Like I said to Marston, it was the random choice that put me off. It had nothing to do with Snow, I just picked it because I don't know why. The Sims one seems to feel a lot better for him, and like you said it feels more laid-back, and maybe a little ditzy too, reflective of Snow's personality.
3. Yeah it sounds cheesy and totally inappropriate for that scene >_< It's gone.
4. I personally like the "Objection!" and "Cornered" Cadenza themes, so I'll keep them. They just don't sound as out of place as the Court Lobby and Maya's Theme ones.
5. Good point. It was only a possibility anyway as it sounded different from the "gamey" music I'm trying to find, but I've never completely stuck to that decision anyway.
6. It was an ambient song I was listening to at the time I was editing the train view images for Case 2, and it seemed to stick whenever I looked at those images again. This one's still up in the air.

-I like T&T C-E. AJ annoy me if you listen to them too much, but it doesn't much if it's 1 or 3 .
-Change Vinnie to Cornered 2001-Remix 2004. I think it's nice.
-You know, it would be funny if you put PLvsAA England Court Theme. It's just me though.
-You can change Maya to the very first one.
-I didn't pay any attention to the theme on the train. Try find something at least catchy.

When you're saying you're changing Vinnie, you don't mean Vinnie's objection theme right? Cuz that one's pretty awesome.

Also, I didn't say it earlier, but please don't change the Court theme. That's great as is right now.

Oh no, I meant the "Vinnie to the Rescue" song. It's too cheesy and out-of-place. Might just be better off having a Core theme there.

That's three votes to keep the court theme... OK then I will :)

Cardy, there's a lot of missing backgrounds and sprites and line-skipping. Is that my PyWright version (not the latest, I think) or is there another explanation?

You probably copied the new files over wrong. I had the same problem when I was beta-testing.

Oh, maybe it's because I dragged the Turnabout Scapegoat/Haunted Turnabout new files to overwrite the existing old ones (instead of just dragging the whole thing as one) so that I could play all three cases in a row? In that case, I gotta reinstall it. Thanks!

Well...
Spoiler:
A-W-E-S-O-M-E work! I just finished playing the first part. I had the "O_O" face like 15 times! xD
Anyways, I really like all the plot twists and how this case connects with the previous ones. And Vex Vulper, obviously. Hell, he may be a crazy homicide, but he's still my favorite Contempt of the Court character! :P
The additional investigation at the end is great, showing some past events that we couldn't get to know before. What will happen now??? :udgy:
Again, really nice work. Can't wait for the second part! :gant:
Good luck with that!

That's all!
We do what we must because we can.

Um, when I put new version of the game, all art for Scapegoat disappears. Also, it almost immediately crashed PYWright.

Might be the Contempt of Court you currently have installed. The Case 3 download doesn't include all contents of the previous two cases, it was made assuming you already have those files installed.
I recommend deleting EVERYTHING, installing this package first, and THEN installing Case 3, replacing ALL files and folders when prompted. Should've made the specifications clearer, sorry. :payne:

Working perfectly now, thanks a lot Cardy!

EDIT: Well, played through it and it blew my mind several times! Pretty entertaining. Can't wait for part two!

Also, I was REALLY sure that

Spoiler:
The ??? mastermind at the end wasn't Alba, but rather, Redd White. That was the most mind-blowing moment of the lot.

Thanks, I'm glad it DID! :D
...And lol you expected Redd White to be on the phone? I thought the dialogue was a bit obvious in referring to Alba, but glad it did surprise you in the end xD

And thanks, kwando! I already replied to your post on AAO :P

My money's on the killer being...

Spoiler:
...Maya.

That whole thing about her training at Hazakura Temple was a lie. Bikini and Iris are covering for her so that she can pull it all off. She killed Maplethorpe solely so that she could frame Vulper for it (she really, really misses Mr. Grossberg.) Then, she killed Docks during the blackout so that she could be doubly sure of it and snuck out before the lights came back on. Maggey saw her, but is lying to cover for her, since they're friends. Basically, Maya was just having a backup, in case Vulper wasn't convicted for one of them. And it worked just as she planned! Nick bought right into the lies.

The whole thing with Hemlock is just a giant red herring. Unless... I guess it's possible that she's involved with that too. We'll see how things turn out.

This also explains why she doesn't show up in Apollo Justice. Nick figures everything out in the end and gets her convicted.
