Generally students abroad are taught to speak English with a British accent. And if he spoke English beforehand, with either a British or an American accent, he would most likely pick up English much more easily and he would avoid speaking English with a German accent. But it could be that he dresses a lot like the characters from Pride and Prejudice. If you start comparing Edgey and Mr. Darcy, they both dress in the same way (minus coloring), both act awkwardly when it comes to showing emotions and so on.

I'm not a fan of british accents - or scottish accents or any accent that appears in Great Britain, Scotlands, Wales or any other on that continent above Germany. It doesn't sound good to me, it doesn't sound sexy or interesting or funny in any way.
And especially with my dislike for British Accents, I would never imagine or think Edgeworth would have a british accent or be british. Also, drinking tea isn't anything especially british. I drink tea sometimes. Drinking tea with milk in it, now that's british... apparently, from what I know of having to prepare tea-with-milk for some people. But as far as we know, Edgeworth doesn't drink tea with milk. It's likely that Edgeworth maybe went to various countries to study their juridical systems and maybe picked up a habit... but that still doesn't make him british...

I completely agree with you. Apart from disliking British accents, I quite like mine. Also, there's the fact that there isn't a set "British accent" here, so I'm not sure exactly which one you're referring to.
Drinking tea with milk is normal here. It didn't know it wasn't elsewhere...
Anyway, I don't believe he is British. There's near to nothing that supports this theory and it's more likely that he's just a well spoken American. Maybe picking up accents from other places.

Doesn't really matter to me which British Accent someone may have, I find them all a bit nerve-grating. I used to like a Glasgow accent, but grew out of that. My mom's boyfriend has a scottish accent (previous one was also a Scot) and it is sort of nice to hear him say a few things, but overall.... nah, any kind of british accent is not one I really like.
Complete opposite on the spectrum, I love a Kansai accent. I don't know many other Japanese accents, but the Kansai one just really appeals to me somehow...

Not a very decent theory. After all, what would von Karma care about Britain in any way? It's not perfect. I forget, but I think it was mentioned that von Karma left Germany around the time Franziska was born? It's likely that Edgeworth went to Germany, probably study the German Law System, but just because you live in Germany doesn't mean that you go to Britain very often.
I've lived in Germany for (almost) 23 years now and only time I was ever in Britain was the Heathrow Airport to get to America.

Trust me, I know. I'm half British, and I've been multiple times. I was saying that it's a stereotype. Like how black people are all gangsters, even though that isn't really true. He just has a very British stereotype, which along with his British sounding voice, makes people think of him as a British person. I even said he WASN'T British.
