You're not the only one, Pierre nearly shipped me with someone as well.

I figured the shipping joke was sort of payback for that time.

You're pretty picky with English voice acting. I don't think I've ever seen a thread where you don't complain about the voices in games. Vesperia's voice cast was great, and only Karol was the real obnoxious one out of the group.

I suppose I have a pretty high standard for voices - I grew up with the German dub of animes and they were pretty decent. When I listened to the English dub of Sailor Moon and some of the songs of it, the voices sounded good, too. But then I listened even for a second to the Digimon (Tamers) English dub and I wanted to scratch my ears out.... but lately, the dub has been improving on the english side. For example, El Hazard: The Magnificent World a seven episode OVA and I like all the languages available on the DVDs I have. The Japanese one - slight trouble later on as the subtitles were later than the voices, the German one - I originally started with this one, and the English one and even that sounds pretty good. I actually like watching it in English cause the character voices sound believable. And even for Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII - the English dub is good! I liked it, until I heard the Japanese dub and fell in love with Suzumura Kenichi..... oh a-and Sakamoto Maaya, I guess. Again. Although Gackt as Genesis is.... I will ignore Genesis, I don't like the entire character.

What I mean is, my main problem with the English Vesperia voices is Judith's voice. Hisakawa Aya - who actually voiced Sailor Mercury, I find that awesome - makes Judith sound like a mature woman. Mature, rather seductive and likes to tease people, especially men. She can sound mocking and sadistic at times, but still serious. And really frightening in battle, at times.
The English one.... the voice is just too high, in my opinion. She sounds too young, she sounds bored, she doesn't have the teasing/mocking in her voice, nothing mature about her. Gha, just remembering hearing her say "Luna Talon!" is already making me shudder...
Oh and Troy Baker as Yuri just makes me want to take a picture of Yuri and dubbing FF XIII over it with "SERAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" Which gets us somehow back to Persona 4, as Troy Baker voices Kanji.... another reason to not play Persona 4. Especially now, since I just looked up all the other voice actors and all the guys are voiced by my more disliked male English voice actors. Lowenthal, Bosch and Baker in one game....
I will just go look at Mara now and shudder.

I'm probably biting my tongue on this one, but I just personally never understood knocking a game, praising a game, or formulating an opinion on something unless you've had personal experience with it first.

Granted, I have opinions on games I've never played, but I've never felt I had the right to voice my opinion on them unless I've personally experienced them firsthand, as all my opinions are usually beforehand just speculations or heavily influenced by other people's perceptions rather than my own. Heck, there have been many a times where I had a strong opinion about a game just from mere speculation before playing and experiencing it firsthand and having my opinion completely changed. It's been for the good and it's been for the worst, but it is an experience I do highly value when voicing my stance when it comes to media and the like. It's just more meaningful, I feel, when it comes from a personal viewpoint, not from speculation, videos, and opinions, and reviews you find on things.

I personally quite enjoy a good debate and discussion, but it all feels relatively pointless if I don't have the personal experience to back up my stance. I at least like to give it a try.

And guys, if someone doesn't want to play a game you're in love with, please don't force them into it. That is the worst idea ever and you guys should be ashamed. If they don't want to try it, then they don't have to. If it's something they're not into, I'm sure they're not counting their losses. I know I sound a little double-sided here, but if it's a genre someone is not into, even it may be the greatest thing in the world, if it's not to their tastes, I doubt they'd like it. It's like trying to get a Sony obsessed Nintendo hating fan boy to play Mario Galaxy 2. It's a bad idea.

Alright, I've said my piece on the matter.

I completely agree with you Blak and will now devote my full time and dedication into playing one of the many Madden games that are out there. They've made so many, clearly it has to be a good series. Can't wait to discuss dream rosters and stats with you. We'll have a grand time.

To any Harvest Moon fan, what do you think about the Wii games, Tree of Tranqulity and Animal Parade?
I read that AP is basically a sequel/remake of ToT, with practically the same story and characters and optional marriage candidates. I watched PBG talk about Animal Parade and it seemed kind of fun - the graphics are nice, I didn't hear much music, though, but the idea of searching for animals for a circus.... what?
I must say, though, the addition of the Harvest God in AP is nice. It's nice that we have a mal variety of the Harvest Goddess now for the female players to get - back in MFoMT the Harvest Goddess mirror was the damn Kappa in the lake....
Has anyone played both and can say one is better than the other? Or maybe you just played one, I'm kind of curious. The option of taking pictures of characters isn't one I particularly find interesting, I never saw the point in DoAX2 for that. I do like it that my children can look a certain way and have different personalities, depending on my spouse. Ditto with rival couples having kids.

I havent extensively played either of those games but I have played them. They're both pretty good but not the best the series has to offer. I and a lot of other people I know liked Animal Parade because of the changes they made. But I barely played Tree of Tranquility.

One Harvest Moon game I totally recommend is A New Beginning for the 3DS. Theres a lot of changes to the game that really make it awsome. You can customize your character and also customize your farm and the whole town. Thats pretty badass if you ask me. Not only that but before getting married to the character you like, you go through a dating period which I thought was pretty cool. Just a suggestion.

Well I bought Animal Parade, simply because I read that ToT basically required me to use motion control for farming - I'm not a hater for motion controls, I find them superb in Skyward Sword, I just don't like them in games where it doesn't need to be. And I'm about to play it.

I want A New Beginning, I really do!
But it hasn't been released in Germany yet! And no way am I going to buy an American 3DS just so I can play American games as well. Bad enough I had to do that with Japanese and European games. *goes on to rant about region locks*

edit

Oh my god, I just played about 40 minutes of Animal Parade and.... Oh my god, how boring!
I watched PeanutButterGamer's video on Animal Parade, a reason why I got it, so I knew about having to go to town to get Bo's tools, then get him something to eat so he can fix the bridge and that animals will be in my way to prevent me from entering the Goddess' Spring right away.
But by god, I just looked up how to get those damn animals to move!
I need to talk to this person, then another one, then somebody else again, then this, that and the other person and then get to the 10th Floor of the Mine, so I get the animal whistle, so that little posse can move their asses and then I finally find out from the Harvest Goddess why everything is shit for everyone right now?
What the hell?
I'd rather get the obligatory plot-stuff out of the way as quickly as possible and not play days until I finally find out about the damn plot. I guess my main complaint is that the space between Farm, the other people's farm and the town and the mountains is large and empty, it feels pointless. Why are they so far apart? Why is my character so slow?
Magical Melody had a pretty long prologue about the plot, but at least I got it all over with once I popped in the disc. DS/DS Cute gave me the plot and it was up to me how fast I'd complete it.

Yeah motion controls can be a real pain sometimes. And I'd rather sit down to play Harvest Moon games...I mean, what are you gonna do? Get up and physically use the Wii remote to till the soil and stuff? Thats probably the most fun you're gonna be having with motion controls in a game like that.

Haha yeah I dont like the region blocks either. You would think they would want to earn more money by sending more games over here but I guess not. Not only that but theres a lot of games that I want that they only released in Japan which got me really frustrated. Especially when they didnt release the second Miles Edgeworth game here. I was like literally like "whaaaaat?! WHAAAAAAT?!" when I found out. Haha. That was probably one of my biggest game disappointments ever.

Wow thats bullshit. You shouldnt put up with a game like that. Im used to working my ass off in a Harvest Moon game but not like that. Harvest Moon is about doing what you want and working for it on your own...not doing a bunch of mandatory crap. And I would think that the long expanse between your farm and the town etc. would only waste in-game time[and real time] wouldnt it? Sometimes I just want to go back to playing Friends of Mineral Town...

Hmmmm, that's the first time I heard someone diss Animal Parade.

When it first came out everyone praised it because the marriages had actually honest-to-goodness kisses, the character designs and personalities were updated, and the graphics. Oh, and let's not forget the bachelors.

But I will admit the Harvest God is hot. But, I fell for Owen so I had to marry the man. =>.>=

I never found out how to marry the Harvest Goddess but I heard its a lot of work regardless of which gender the deity is. I think everything involving the characters was good but everything else about it apparantly isnt.

I'm the sure the game will be more fun to play once I get past that obligatory "Find Out The Plot" thing and get some work done. What I've seen from the game, it looks fun. And I love Harvest Moon, so I will stick with it for a while.

I'm gonna marry the Wizard. Why?
Cause he has a tan. And a side-braid.

The Harvest God is kinda hot. It's nice to see that they finally gave us a nice, hot guy as an opposite for the Harvest Goddess - I mean, Friend of Mineral Town's Harvest Goddess Opposite? The kapha. Who wants to marry the Kapha? Well, except maybe for bragging rights - I never cared for that, so I always went for the doctor.

Lufia: Curse of the Sinistrals

I played Lufia & the Fortress of Doom years ago and I found it a fun and good game. When I got my hands on Lufia - Rise of the Sinistrals, which is the prequel to the Fortress of Doom, and played it, I absolutely loved it. Although Fortress of Doom did kind of spoil the ending of it.
But the ending of the game still blew my mind and it still makes me cry.
When I heard that they were bringing out Rise of the Sinistrals again, I thought that'd be cool! I loved the game and making it again with updated graphics? Great! But then I saw the character designs... Selan's re-design is sort of still alright. You know, it sort of still has parts of the original design in it. But... Tia? You know, Tia who looked like a very girly, very fragile person in Rise of Sinistrals? She got re-designed into this! She looks like Rita Mordio from Tales of Vesperia!
Just... look at this sheet that compares the characters to their sprites to their re-designs! Okay, Iris looks very pretty now, but it still is nothing like the original idea.

Umm, I digress... Anyhow, has anyone played it?
Would I like the game, despite the re-designs? Is it still basically the same story or was it changed into something completely different? I think I read at some point at the Ancient Cavern was taken out or now an obligatory part of the story...

I haven't played it, but from the opinions I've heard about it, the original is far superior and it's recommended to stay far, far away from that game. Then again, it's not my opinion, but those of others. Take it as you will.

Mh... I still love playing the original Super Nintendo version, I have a save file shortly after meeting Gades right now. The puzzles were always fun... I remember some of them I just never could figure out without a guide. And then there's that "hardest puzzle in the world" that I only did once with a guide...

You know, Curse of the Sinistrals looks good.
I think I heard some voice samples when the game was in production... but I don't remember them anymore... But I'm absolutely sure there was something in the game about the Ancient Cavern...

Guess I could grab the rom and try it out before deciding

How come you don't like Troy Baker? He's one of the few voice actors I thought was so awesome in Tales of Vesperia that I looked him up and now know the name, face and voice. I thought he made a wonderful performance with making Yuri sound confident, cocky and troubled at the same time.
He was quite good as snow in FFXIII, but nothing really spectacular.

But did you play Bioshock Infinite? Troy Baker NAILED THE **** out of Booker's voice. I had high expectations when I heard he would do the voice and he certainly delivered.

So I ask again, what do you have against Troy?
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

Which gets us somehow back to Persona 4, as Troy Baker voices Kanji.... another reason to not play Persona 4. Especially now, since I just looked up all the other voice actors and all the guys are voiced by my more disliked male English voice actors. Lowenthal, Bosch and Baker in one game....
I will just go look at Mara now and shudder.

If I had to guess it's probably because she doesn't like Snow and so hearing Troy Baker voice...well anyone, she'll hear Snow and dislike the character through the association. I like Snow and Kanji so Troy's pretty high in my book of stuff to the point I actually get excited when I hear he's voicing someone, like I don't like the look of Resident Evil 6...but I do like the fact Troy Baker voices Wesker Jr in it.

Actually, No, it's simply because I don't like his voice. I'm sure I'm not the only person who ever came across a voice and thought, "Urgh! Stop talking, please!" It's just like the opposite where you find a voice that you just want to keep listening to. Why? Eh, simply because it sounds pleasing to you.
Lowenthal I don't like because the way he didn't make any difference in the voices of Asch and Luke and for Mr Ending he used a voice that sounded way too much like Luke - the ending is supposed to be ambiguous, so having Mr Ending sound too much like one ruins it. (Suzuki did a perfect mesh between Luke and Asch)

Anyway, I tried playing a ROM of Curse of the Sinistrals cause I don't want to pay money into the game if I'm just gonna give up after a few hours. Failed to get even very far cause my computer is too fucking slow to play this at normal speed
I don't know much about the voices, for a second I thought it was undubbed, simply because the stutter and repeat sounded japanese to me. I still cringe at the new appearance of Tia... what have they done to you? (Not that I liked her much, but it's the principal)

Still wondering if anybody can tell me if the game would be worth it.

Well, I have it and I like it.
...Then again...Firends tend to say "remember it's Zinles score system" -which means I tend to rank things higher than any real critics would... :3
Also take a note I haven't finished it yet, heck I'm ot even halfway through yet.
But I want to say it's not the games fault. I just bought few other games too back when I got this one, then came the nevest Layton and...then I forgot this one...
It's pretty much this dungeon clearing thing IMO and I enjoy the game. And what I've read from others; it's not that bad game and very enjoyable.
...Ugh...Long, confusing, story short; if you find it cheap or even cheap like; just grab it.

...I didn't help much, did I...? ╥﹏╥

Not very... how are the characters' personalities? Did they change?
Considering Tia has been turned from her very girly, fragile appearance to something that looks like a Blacksmith from Ragnarok Online, has her personality changed, too? Is she more strong now or still the fragile woman who has a crush on Maxim?
Maxim looks very young, very Final Fantasy Hero-ish, so they might have given him the kind of personality Dekar initially had - loudmouthed, cocky and kinda hot-headed. Seems very unlikely he has remained the calm, coolheaded 20-ish year old guy he used to be.

What's the story?
From the few seconds I've seen of the game's start, apparently the Sinistrals are already there instead of appearing during the game.

Sadly, the game didn't get out into Germany, apparently - Fuck you, whatever Company.
Although I have found it for about 20€ online, but I'm not sure yet if I want to get it...

Compared to the original game? Ehhhhh...dunno.
But point being I'd say the 20€ is kinda there for the game.
If ya find that one kinda cheap then...Might as well take the shot.

S'called mute.

I've never really got people so bothered by english voices. The only time I think any dub has really bothered me to the point I can't watch it is DBZ's japanese dub because no matter how badass Goku is...he sounds like he is 5.

Hey guys, does anyone have a suggestion as far as anime is concerned?

I can recommend anime like: Code Geass. It's about 50 episodes long. It's a mecha, and it's got a great story backed up by a lot of solid characters.

Gurren Lagann. It's manly. It's a mecha, and you'll feel like pumping your fists in the air at the sheer manliness that goes on throughout the series. It's truly an epic story.

Fate/Zero. It's a modern fantasy anime about mages fighting to the death over the Holy Grail. Each mage gets a familar called "Servants". They are classes/named as: Saber, Lancer, Berserker, Assassin, Caster, and Rider. Stuff happens and it's pretty violent.

Mirai Nikki. Violent. Diaries that predict other people's deaths. Good watch.

Current series I'm watching that you might like: Attack on Titan. Humanity is isolated from a population of giants that one day break down their walls and shatter their lives of peace and longevity. It's pretty violent, and it's full of despair.

If any of these shows tickle your fancy, lemme know. If not, I can give you some more if you tell me what else you're into.
I'm Blak, and I have shit taste.

It depends on the voice for me, sometimes I find them to be pretty good or decent, other times just annoying. Like with Vanilla in XIII, where they told the VA to try to sound as much as possible as the Japanese voice. In Japanese, it sounds okay because it's quite normal to go "eh" and similar sound effects. Actually, I wonder what that means for Vanilla and her orgasm during Hecaton's Gestalt Drive....
Andrea Brown did a good job as Aerith in Crisis Core. I actually think the english cast of Crisis Core was pretty good. Just that, to me, nobody can hold a candle to Sakamoto Maaya. Her Aerith is so beautiful... (probably because Sakamoto was specifically chosen for Aerith's voice) Although I think Gackt voicing Genesis was a bit... meh.

I've only seen a playthrough - and that didn't even go for 100% - and it looked pretty good. It somehow seemed like a game that needed two players, but that might be because I watched a co-op. I've been wondering if I should get it. Overall, it looks fun! Probably more fun than Donkey Kong Country.

Have you played Donkey Kong Country when it came out? It was a masterpiece for it's time with innovative platforming (barrels and such) and breath-taking graphics that still hold up to this day.
The game was hard but rewarding. Getting through all the obstacles and enemies was so incredibly fun...

My point being: DKCR is probably a good game and fun to the boot. But it doesn't compare to the original. Gotta respect the classics.

DKCR seems really great, but I'd rather watch someone play it than play it myself. I liked the game enough, but I just couldn't get into it because of the controls. Honestly, if they would have mapped the roll to a button instead of making it motion controlled, it would have made the game much better for me. Suppose I'll stick with DKC2 any day.

Also DoMaya, I'm sure this is a bit mainstream, but I'll go with Samurai Champloo as a suggestion for you. I had been giving it another watch myself.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

I remember playing Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3 on the Super Nintendo and I still play them now and then. They're still decent games, fun to play. I just think that, once you've played DKC 1-3 so often that you dream of it, DKC returns might appear better, simply because it's new and you don't know what you're doing.
Then again, that might happen to DKC Returns, too, eventually.

Anyone played Mario Party 6?
It apparently never came out in Germany (no reason why, we got Mario Party 4 and 5 and onwards) but according to my brother and his wife, years ago, they made Daisy 'sound black'. Or, at least, really rude. I looked at a video about a typical game going on and the theme is Day & Night, apparently.
I checked on Amazon and found one version for barely 20€, but also one that includes a Microphone.
Is a mic required to play this game? I doubt it, but I figured I'd rather ask...

I didn't really think so. She got 'sassier' but I wouldn't say there was anything racist about her.

About DKC1,2,3: you make a valid statement and agree with your reasoning, no further comment needed.

About MP6: I played it and it's definitely a fun game. The game is basically like all the previous MP's with new boards and new mini-games. The day and night system makes for some interesting changes visually and changes some events (from good to bad and vice versa).
The microphone is not needed during the 'story' or multiplayer. The game does have some special mini-games (which are a bit longer and a bit more developed than standard mini-games) made to be played with the microphone. Although between the proces of speaking and reaction time on screen is a delay of 0,5 seconds or something I remember having a real good time with them. It takes 2 or 3 times practise to get familiar with it, but a fun gimmick. (don't expect many hours of entertainment though)
I don't remember anything being wrong with daisy's voice though. I was young at the time and never picked her anyways, there seems to be some mild discussions on the internet about it though. Don't go putting salt on every snail.

That being said: I thought MP4 and MP5 were more fun than MP6, but that is strictly personal. If you play with several people than I recommend getting it for €20 if you want something new (new is relative here).
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

Guess I'll get it. What with my husband visiting in a few days, I'd have somebody to play Mario Party with. I don't mind playing it alone, but saying that it's recommended to play MP6 as more than just one person sounds good enough. Thank god the Mic isn't required for all the mini-games. I don't know many voice-controlled video games, nor have I played them and the only voice control game I saw a review of was PBG about Hey you, Pikachu! and that kinda scared me off.
