Right you guys have both mentioned attack on titan so I'm going to have to ask you to explain WHAT it is.

Yeah XP It's real sad, Professor X and Magneto is probably one of the greatest modern fiction examples of a rivalry and a sympathetic villain.

S'why I'm happy seeing how well done it is in the modern films, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart share a real chemistry on-screen.

Surprisingly, Attack on Titan has very low fanservice. It's about a human civilization enclosed by walls and on the outside live GIANTS! Then the Giants break through and fuck stuff up. Things happen and people die. It's depressing and good. It's kinda like how Sword Art Online was boasting about its "survival game", but this time people ACTUALLY die.

Finally got round to watching episode 5, Blak, your reaction was indeed appropriate. Shall I list my crazy theories about how this series is going to go? (Completely ignoring any of the manga, which I haven't read, and logic, and general sensibilities. There's also cake.)

My theories (quite long, and as said before, insane):

Eren really is the main protagonist, he's gonna Boba Fett out of this situation since he got swallowed intact. And get some new limbs due to plot.
The government's got some kind of conspiracy going on, relating to the Titans and what Eren's father had in the basement, which we haven't seen yet, and if Eren had the key on him, then him dyingwould make that a red herring of the most annoying variety.
Also think this might not actually BE the last settlement of humanity, they just think they are because the other, thriving societies are so far beyond the walls and the ~~Night's Watch~~ Survey Corps hasn't found them yet, due to dying so readily. At which point the show will pull a reverse-Cerebus and be about the main characters' lives in the thriving cities which are actually able to keep titans out, or the titans just don't attack them, again because of...reasons.
Sasha, being an obvious contender for fan favourite character, will at one point have a gruesome, utterly heart-wrenching, brutal death. Right after doing something badass. Think Asuka in EoE, but even more brutal(somehow).
Someone will give the protagonists rifles, so they don't go charging in to close quarters combat. It won't work.

The whole thing is actually a sequel to Evangelion, when SEELE have reformed after Instrumentality and perfected the mass production of Evangelions, with their sadism from their first appearance still intact. The King is actually Gendo Ikari, and the innermost circle is Tokyo-4, designed to trap and kill Titans. Unit-01 will show up, being the only thing able to kill Colossal Titans and we'll finally know if Rebuild's a sequel or not.

Alternatively, Tita refers to them being on Titan, the moon of Saturn, with lots and lots of terraforming. The "attack on Titan" is the start of the war in the backstory of Cowboy Bebop, and the 3D maneuvering gear gets replaced with a supersoldier program hence explaining why Vicious always uses a sword. That he never mentioned the 50-foot tall man-eating monsters is because he found them easy to kill, unlike Spike, and there was nothing personal there.

The Titans are Spiral Nemesis, Simon let it go unchecked and now some humans who know nothing of spiral power are paying the price for the Dai-Gurren Brigade's hubris.

The first Rebuile movie's for the most part a retelling of the first 6 episodes of the series, with some minor and not-so-minor alterations. The second's where things start having major differences, including the introduction of a new pilot, the aforementioned Mari. The music and animation are top notch throughout, and the English dub's far better than the English dub of the original series, keeping the best parts (namely, Spike Spencer as Shinji) and generally being all-round awesome. You should certainly watch them.

Yeah, that's what I meant by the Rebuild dub being far superior, the orignal's English dub could be grating at times. A lot of times. Still, Spike Spencer's really good at desperation, from someone who's really not dealing with everything right now. So, glad they kept him. Dunno if they kept Tiffany Grant for Asuka, think it might be, but she's improved since the series aired. I pretty much switch between the sub and dub of Rebuild on a whim, they're both good. Unlike Cowboy Bebop where I just can't listen to the Japanese audio because the dub got everything so, so right.

Ah! Back on topic, quickly!

So, I've also been watching the current seasons of Doctor Who and Game of Thrones. Think this has been the weakest season of Doctor Who since the show's revival, but last week's episode was one of my favourite in a while, and this Saturday's is written by NEIL FREAKING GAIMAN!!!!!!

Gae of Thrones is also great as ever, but since I have flatmates who read the series and discuss it constantly, I already know pretty much all the spoilers, but it's the kind of thing where spoilers don't really affect your enjoyment because it's still so compelling.

My friend loves one of the ultimate attacks on that show. A big dempsey-roll style dunk I think however I still hold the Falcon Punch as one of my favourite anime attacks out there.
