Has anyone ever had some sort of bad experience in their life that has ended up being a good thing in hindsight or leading to something good?
One example of what I mean is something I went through in my senior year of high school. I was in love with someone, and when I finally got up the courage to tell her how I felt, I found out she didn't love me back. Needless to say, that hurt. However, thinking back on it, thinking back on the kind of person she was and the kind of person I was, it may have been a good thing that we didn't become a couple. Simply put, I worry we might have made a reckless decision that we would have regretted nine months later if we had started dating. Neither of us was a particularly... stable person at the time.
Admittedly, I don't know for certain how much willpower I have, but I'm a lot more confident in my own judgment now and a lot more willing to stand up for myself. I believe I'm able to handle romance more maturely than I was back in high school, and because I was turned down, I don't have any stupid choices in that department to be ashamed of.

I'll always love you, Max.
