Why did the party have to summon all of their Aeons to bring Yu Yevon out?
He already left the previous Final Aeon's body and was flitting around with nowhere to go, so summoning Aeons to pick off one by one, just so he is back to square one and has nothing to possess... just why? That would've made the final battle better... well, as 'better' as a fight against a giant tick and with Auto-Life on your party can get...

As for Yu Yevon well I can't really answer that question. I was under the impression at the time he would have some way of making Yuna summon them.
Here's a wild theory from what I think was actually mentioned in X-2. Yu Yevon was actually a summoner of Zanarkand when it was at the height of it's power, that's essentially what Sin is, one giant summon that sacrificed all the people of Zanarkand to make. Therefore it's possible that had Yuna not summoned her Aeons to say goodbye, Yu Yevon would have summoned one anyway to possess himself since he's certainly shown to be a competent summoner.

Actually I think it's mentioned the Wall of Fayths are the initial people from Zanarkand sacrificed to make the original Sin and they dream of Dream Zanarkand. Also I think the point is you are serving somewhat an 'ultimate' death to the Aeons once Yu Yevon has taken them after all in X-2 summons don't even exist anymore hence why he couldn't keep repeating the cycle and had to expose his weakness.
Yu Yevon's strength was basically having propaganda stating that 'this was the way things had to be done'. So I imagine he had run out of contingency plans when it came to having to actually fight himself.

I'm already sad to see that PS4 is following Xbox Live's example by making subscription services the only way to play online.

Yes you do, but a PSN account alone costs nothing and on PS3 you can play online with a regular free account.
On the new console you need the 'premium' PS+ account (think of it as the equivalent of Xbox gold) to play online and it does cost a subscription. It was very good value for money towards the end of the cycle as it would often just give out free games and stuff.
I'm really not a fan of subscription anything, s'why I've never really tried MMO's.

Eh, there are some that are free. Ragnarok Online has the option of Pay-For-Play but mostly it can be played for free and still be fun. Downside is, it's originally korean, so it's a very grindy game to play.... I have a mage at level 98 stuck. Mostly cause I can't bring myself to play the game again (I appear and disappear and reappear in the game after months) and mostly cause I can't find any monsters that give me enough EXP percentage that it's worthwile to spend about 3 hours grinding on for that last level.
I guess I would get PS+ and such stuff, but only if I felt like there'd be stuff that would interest me that would only be accessable with that feature. Plus, if I had the cash to continuously pay for it.

Yes I've tried some free-to-play games before but most of them set up this massive wall between you and actual people who pay. How they handle that really determines whether it bothers me or not.
An yeah I hear Korea has loads of unique MMO's my pals all downloaded this unusual looking digimon once and even put some time into it.
Though the ones that really interest me tend to be pay to play (lookin at you FFXI).
