You'll have to clarify, what ending did you get? There's like a dozen for that film *blatant exaggeration*

Spoiler tag it so I can know what you mean.

Aww Zin you know what you've done now? You've lowered my expectations so when I eventually see it, I'll not expect a lot and not be on my guard.

If I soil myself it's all your fault.

;_;

But in all seriousness, maybe I'm being too hard for the movie. Not sure though since I haven't seen the rest of those movies.
Maybe I saw it in...correct/bad day or something and I was constantly over analysing it while watching it, but.....yeah.
I can say for usre it's lot better than either of the Mega Shark movies odr D-Wars though.
Granted; I REALLY enjoyed the Mega Shark movies since those were just so stupid you couldn't have fun while watching those, but that doesn't mean I'd say those are good movies. Quite opposite.
And D-Wars....Usually I like those kinda movies but this was just...boring. And when the end credits began I had no idea what the heck I haad just seen.

So yeah, Paranormal Activity is better than those movies, but...I don't exactly know how high I'd rate it.
Maybe it is just one of those "not for me" movies but....yeah.

Ok, I just sat and watched PA 1, 3 and 4. I kind of see what you mean now.

Ghost stuff tends to freak me out more than anything so that's probably why PA2 freaked me out so much. It was the first ghosty thing I've seen for a while and I didn't really know what it was going to be like.

They were all very good in their own way, but as I knew what to expect, they didn't affect me quite as badly. I thought the 3rd one was great, little Kristi was adorable and little Katie getting attacked was horrible.
Spoiler:
Dennis' death was fucking hideous.

The 4th one was ok but seemed to finish too quickly.
Spoiler:
I didn't like the whole thing about the witches and waiting for Hunter to be ready.

After I get over my shock of being shit up, I did really enjoy the series. However, I won't be re-watching them anytime soon.

I don't think I'll go to bed just yet.. o_o had better stick a comedy on.

PA1 - 8/10
PA3 - 8.5/10
PA4 - 5/10

Yesterday I was checking movies that I'd record for digibox's memory to see later
and lookie lookie...Toy Story 3 was on. I never went to see it in cinema so this was finally time to see it.
So...Toy Story 3

Now let me begin saying that I never loved the first Toy Story movie.
And before you all go bombing me I want to state that I was five years old when the movie came here.
Bore that I had seen only the old school drawn animations and that had really grew into me (even to date)
and to see a computer animated movie...I confess I didn't like it because it was so different than what I had used to.
And I wasn't that taken by the plot either. The movie was so...dark. Hmmm...let me be more specific;
I grew up with Moomins, Around the World in 80 Days with Willy Fog and other lighthearted series like that,
so Toy Story was had pretty dark themes compared to those, even though i didn't fully realize that back then.
Toy Story was a movie I liked to see once in a while, but did I think it was a classic or anything? No.

Luckily I was aroun ten years old when I first saw the Toy Story 2 and that movie I really liked even though it kinda had even darker theme than the first movie about Andy maybe leaving them behind someday.
But this movie also had more adventure than the first one which I ofcourse liked. ...Aaaaand to be honest, one of the reasons I didn't like the first movie was because of all the fights the toys had. It's just my personality, I don't like to see people fighting because it makes me uncomfortable and that's exactly what the first movie felt to me. Uncomfortable.
This time they talked more about their problems rather than arguing. And I liked that. I enjoyed TS2 really much and for me it's always on way other level than the first one.
...Not to mention the animation is better looking too. (geewizz orly?)

And now I've completed the trilogy by seeing the final part. Did I like it? ...Actually; yes.
Well I still think it's not as good as the second one, but I never thought I'd actually like this one.
What I had read from it I ws expecting like the big sobby tale of how it's all going to end (granted it was) but...It worked.
Personally I'm surpised they actually took the shot and told what will happen to the Toys when Andy has grown up.
And because of that the movie hs the darkest theme of all three, but they also make it dark with other things too.
Like the melter, them going to trash and all that. There are still much humor and comedy in this too, but it's definitely the darkest of all three IMO.
But it's still an adventure, adventure tht maybe every toy goes through and it certainly creates lots of drama (which I like)

And the ending...I liked it. I didn't cry a river, but yeah; my eyes got wet.
But if I hadn't seen the previous ones...theeeeen I guess the ending would have been more like...meh...for me.
It pretty much feeds on the nostalgia you have for the characters you've grown up with and saying the farewell to them kinda hurts.
But yeah I'm glad I saw it. It's not a bad movie at all though I still prefer the second one a lot more.
But definitely this is the bittersweet ending the toys deserve.

That's the thing with the Toy Story movies - they took a long time to get out, so the people who watched the first Toy Story movie were older by the time the second one came out. And with Toy Story 3, it came out even later. And they did the right thing - they had the story, the characters and the entire premise grow older along with the audience. Hence why the 3rd one was so incredibly dark - it dealt with getting older, too old to deal with toys anymore and also show it from the toys' perspective.

Granted, that whole trash can thing - initially appearing in Toy Story 2 - and the incinerator was probably super dark, but.... well, the audience was older. And if there is a parent who sent their young kids to this movie and watch it alone, well, they goddamn well deserve to get woken up for several nights because their kids have nightmares because of the movie. (Also works for Watership Down)

Indeed.
Once I thought it was kinda odd it took so many years for TOy Story to get sequels,
but I was old enough to notice the thing when the third came out.
Sure at first I was like; "Wait what, after all these years you really going to..." but then I noticed the thing.
I don't know of course if it was planned like that from the get go, but they sure know how to strike the nostalgia factor. I mean let's face it; Andy could really be you.
Like I said I was around 5 when the first film came out and around 10 when the second one hit the big screens, much like Andy himself in those movies.
And in the final one he goes to college, I'm like 18 or something...yeah.
And that's so genious with it. You literally grew with Toy Story and it's characters and as long as you saw them at right time or something like that; you're sure to get this once you get older and tear up in the end of the third movie when you and Andy literally say goodbye to your childhoods.
Absolutely brilliant.

About the parental thing....hmmm...I dunno really.
I mean; sure; it's dark but those things never....bothered me when I was kid. I just enjoyed the action in the movie and just realied the darkness few years later when I became old enough to think I guess.
But if I ever get whippersnapper (wink wink ladies lol) then I'll totally make sure they see these movies.
...Buuuuuuut I'm gonna try my best to show them in their right age too so they can grow up with Toy Story too like I did.
I dunno...You know what they say; our childhood always rocks. :jake:

Rise of the Guardians 8/10

Woo! Finally got to see the movie and it certainly was a treat.

Only downside is that the movie wasn't that great storywise and there was nothing to write home about with the soundtrack. I was kind of expecting this movie to be a bit dark but it was perfectly childsafe. (Even though the villian creeped me out a few times.)

Still, the animation is b-e-a-utiful and the characters will be burned into my mind for awhile. Especially Jack Frost because he's hot. :redd:

Oz the Great and Powerful 6 or 7/10

I finally saw it, but there were some parts I didn't like and some parts I felt could have been better. Good movie, but I liked the original Wizard of Oz better.

Just watched Kick-Ass. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting much considering how many people liked the film when it first came out (hurr durr I'm so hipster) so I was surprised when it actually turned out to be a decent movie! It probably helped that it wasn't as OTT as I was expecting - even the violence was mostly tasteful (although I might be just saying that because I've been conditioned to lots of blood and gore thanks to Quentin Tarantino ;p).

My favourite parts? Nicholas Cage doing what he does best (screaming) and the whole bazooka thing.

Overall I'd give it an 8/10.

You won't be disappointed. The story this film tells is so heart moving, I wouldn't be surprised if some people shed a few tears when watching. It tells of two people who love each other very much, but are separated by long distance and their own busy lives.

It shouldn't take too long to watch since it's only 65 minutes. I recommend watching it in Japanese with English subtitles. There are two English dubs, which are probably serviceable, but this is a film that needs to be watched in its original language to fully appreciate the culture and meaning. I hope you'll enjoy it!

The Prestige. 10/10. Excellent movie, and I'm not just saying that because of the whole magician battle plot. The ending is great, and like most Nolan films, the scenes aren't all in order. I'll quote the movie right about now. "Now you're looking for the secret... but you won't find it, because of course you're not really looking. You don't really want to know. You want to be fooled. But you wouldn't clap yet. Because making something disappear isn't enough; you have to bring it back. That's why every magic trick has a third act, the hardest part, the part we call the prestige."

Ahhh yes, Chris Nolan. Great director! I loved all three Batman movies (even if TDKR was a bit out there) and Inception. Now he's producing for Man of Steel which might just be one of my favorite movies if it's what I think it'll be.

I should try watching some of Nolan's other films.

pitch perfect - i give it a 3/10. i thought it was horrible! fat amy was ok for some comic relief and the musical performances were nice, but i thought the story was shallow and the acting wasn't that convincing i guess (though i'm in no position to judge as i'm no actor). i was really disappointed with the movie because a lot of people were raving about how much they love it. and then i watched it (online lol) and i actually thought 'wtf is this?' granted, i would've probably been a little more 'lenient' with my rating if i'd watched it with no expectations.

Saw Iron Man 3. I'd give it a 8/10. It was a hell of a lot better than the 2nd film, but I was a bit disappointed at Rhodey's role in the movie was so minimal. Would've been nice to see more Don Cheadle, but whatevs. Robert Downey Jr. is the man destined to play Tony Stark.

Now, I'd kill somebody for a Dr. Strange movie.

Dr. Strange is too broke to be in a movie.
He has the most non-descript, all-encompassing power of magic AND he's apparently an expert meleé fighter as well.

Iron Man 3: 8/10 like Blak gave it. It was a good continuation of Tony Stark's life post-Avengers, but woooow, the way it all played out was NOT what I was expecting! I hope Tony'll be back in Avengers 2.

Spoiler:
Well...he probably will since it said clearly "Tony Stark will Return" at the end credits.

Today my chem teacher overheard some students talking about Iron Man. He said he wouldn't see it since he was disappointed that:
Spoiler:
He heard the Mandarin is just an actor, and didn't use the 10 rings.

He was going on about it, and the girls just gave him blank looks. It was all good since I was able to talk to him about it. My chem teacher's pretty awesome even if other people don't agree.

finally got to watch star trek and ironman 3 last week. they were both great, though i would rate star trek slightly higher than ironman. we stupidly did not wait for the ironman after credits scene, but i found it online, so it's all good.

Saw Star Trek Into Darkness. Clunky in the beginning, good in the middle, great towards the end. I'm one of the few Trekkies who likes the reboot though so I guess your mileage may vary on it.

Maybe a 7 to 8 out of 10 for me? I can't decide if I liked it as much as the 2009 Trek or not. I'd have to watch that one again haha. But it was good! And considering the track record for Trek movies, it's kind of a pleasant surprise. There used to be this weird pattern where a good Star Trek movie would be followed by a bad one followed by a good one again -- until Nemesis followed Insurrection, giving us two duds and sinking the films until '09. So I had to wonder how this sequel would pan out, but I enjoyed it.

Funnily enough, the last movie I saw was Gyakuten Saiban, aka the Ace Attorney movie. While I have no idea what makes good acting in Japanese culture (as I'm not Japanese), the actors in GS portrayed the cast of the game well, and they were endearing. Most of the soundtrack is just remixes of songs from the first game, and while I kind of saw it coming, it was a nice touch. Plot wise, I won't spoil anything, but all I'll say is the film focuses on Turnabout Sisters and Turnabout Goodbyes, arguably the best cases from the first game.

Overall, 9/10. Why not 10/10? I'm not sure myself, actually, but I guess it just wasn't deserving of a 10/10.

Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance

I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching this one. And it introduces the single most badass character in all of Evangelion:

Spoiler:
Rebuild Shinji, with his glowing red eyes of doom and Eva-awakening powers. You thought I meant Mari, didn't you? Well, she's pretty badass too, but not "ending the world because you're too motivated to actually stop piloting.

Rating: Mari Illustrious Makinami/10, numbers are for chumps.

Yes, I do like the third Rebuild film as well, a lot of people hate on it, despite (or maybe because of) it being very much an Eva film.

Wasn't the way they told Yanni Yogi's story just beautiful?

It completely blindsided me from all the slapstick.

Actually yeah, that was fantastic, to be honest that was the defining moment in terms of how I feel that Gyakuten Saiban is the definitive game-to-movie adaptation.

Man of Steel 7.5

I thought this was a disappointment...Especially as a Clark/Lois fan. The movie took one of the only canon pairings I like and turn it into everything I dislike about canon pairings.

But whatever the case may be, I didn't mind how the romance was handled and I enjoyed it anyway. I was looking for an awesome action superhero movie, a great story, a great villain, and most importantly, a relatable Superman, and I believe I got just that. :phoenix:

It was AWESOME, the only fault was it was a slight bit hard to follow, but maybe I'm just dumb.
