Hello. My Name is Cat-Alin. I am 23 years old.
And I have just recently begun to get an urge to drink alcohol.
*sits back down*

Okay, not really, but I need to elaborate.
See, my mother raised me and generally gave me a sip of her beer if she was drinking one as I was growing up. That way, I tasted alcohol and it was never treated as something forbidden and bad for me. Which resulted in my not going out and drinking without restraint at any point just because I was legally allowed to drink alcohol when I turned 18 years old.
I knew what alcohol tasted like, so it was nothing special to me - and I thank my mother for that, it has certainly saved me from getting alcohol poisoning like a ton of other kids who grew up in a household where alcohol was the evilness and nobody was allowed to touch it until they were 18 years old! Those kids see it as a forbidden fruit and everybody knows what they do. So those kids go out, drink without knowing their limits and end up with alcohol poisoning and shot livers by the time they turn 25 years old.

I don't like alcohol that much. It generally has a sour or burning taste, which I don't like very much. And I've spent time around tons of open beer bottles during my stint of cleaning up in cinemas, so a ton of the smell is really disgusting to me.
But lately, I felt like drinking alcohol for fun.
At my birthday dinner last week, I ordered a Pina Colada. I liked virgin coladas and the alcoholic one tasted nice, too, although I think it required a bit more cream/coconut milk... And today, I chose to drink a slightly-alcoholic kind of beer. One beer bottle, all to myself.
I got past the halfway point before we left the visit to my uncle's birthday celebration and I didn't take the bottle home. So... up to now, in my 23 years, I have not been drunk yet, nor have I felt like I drank much alcohol.

I'm kind of torn between thinking it's good...
And part of me thinking, I really just wanna get drunk once...
Although that part is really small!

C-A

I can advocate getting tipsy, getting blind drunk just makes you forget massive stretches of the night, whereas just geting slightly drunk is enjoyable. And I have one friend who pretty much every time he goes out ends up getting his stomach pumped. Just can't handle his alcohol at all.

Then again, I never really get blind drunk anymore, I know how to pace myself.

And just like your mum, my dad always let me have a sip of his beer, probably why I prefer bitter/ales to lager, since he'd never be drinking lager. My favourite drink's rum though, of the spiced variety and not white rum. Whisky's nice too. Oh yeah, and cider, if I'm at a restaurant I pretty much always have cider, goes nice with a meal, or for just an evening of fancying a drink, but not too strong of one. Or sitting outside in the sun.

Oh and for alcohol that tastes good, mead is gorgeous. And while I don't care much for regular wine, I have a penchant for port. Woo, aliteration!

And now I sound like a walking stereotype...

Oh wow, I thought I'd never see the day in which Cat wants to drink for fun.

Well my opinion is that if you feel that you should, and if you really want to, nothing's stopping you - or shouldn't be. Drinking can be pretty fun. Before I had this small liver trouble (not due to drinking per se, just that I inherited my alcoholic grandfather's faulty liver), I used to drink socially. Sometimes I'd just be stupid and pass out and stuff, and that's the bad part, but I often drank just a few glasses and stuff and it's nice to get tipsy sometimes. Makes you more open to some things, conversations, actions that you wouldn't normally do either by hesitation or fear, which shouldn't stop you depending on what it is. Also you can tolerate people a bit more too.

And I don't believe too much in addiction. I mean, when the doctor told me I'd have to stop drinking, he had this real solemn look in his face, almost like he was telling me my mother died or something. I just looked at him, shrugged and said "alright", and I've never touched a bottle since, no struggle at all. In my opinion, people don't get addicted to the booze; they get hooked on the feeling that they get. It's like they don't have anything left to believe in, so they put their beliefs on the bottom of a glass. So if you're strong-willed and moral, you shouldn't have any problems with being addicted to a feeling that's just a mild distraction from life.

I know about alcoholics. My 'stepfather' (technically... he was my mother's boyfriend for so long, it was kinda unofficial) died... well technically not because of alcohol, but it definitely paid a BIG part in it. I know about alcohol addictions, so I will avoid them best as I can.

I'm not really drinking for the sake of getting drunk, it's more that I seem to have a small taste of wanting to drink alcohol. I'm not used to drinking alcohol, so I know my limit of tolerating it - whether it be by expelling it by vomiting or just passing the barrier of being stone-ass drunk - might be low.
But then, I know definitely that I will not drink so much alcohol that I will try to get stone-ass drunk. I'd like to keep my dignity.

Maybe 'fun' was the wrong word... I'm not gonna start drinking alcohol every day. After all, I find alcohol has a pretty sour taste and I can't stand sour tastes that well anymore, even multivitamin juices can be a bit too sour for me these days.

It's not always like that, the day my brother had his first - and last - drink, he had like 3 or 4 full glasses of cheap vodka and coke and wasn't too much affected. Sometimes the tolerance is high by nature, I guess.

Drinking everyday is another thing. I encourage you drinking whenever there's a party or any social situation you feel like drinking, but taking time off is important - and it reduces greatly any chance of addiction.

I've never found in my life any alcohol that tasted "good" - and I've had my wine-tasting phase - so I always went for mixed stuff. I had to take more for it to make effect, since it's mixed, but at least it tasted good.

Parties? Social situations? What are those? :will:
Just kidding. I don't go to parties at all. And social situations generally don't call for alcohol for me.

My mother sometimes drinks a beer or wine with dinner, which is fine. I sometimes taste her concoctions of chocolate shake with mint syrup and... rum or vodka in it. It tastes nice. Vanilla shake with Amaretto in it is awesome. But overall I don't drink much... probably won't drink much in the future, either.

Sitting down on a Friday night with a bottle of rum or whisky and a good film/book/game is far more fun than going out to a club. There's no music you hate and you don't have to put up with other people. And you don't have to worry about getting home, you're already there.

Main reason why I don't go to clubs and such.
I don't have to listen to music I am not a fan of, some songs these days are nice but most are annoying if they are played too loudly which they always are in culbs. I don't have to interact with people I probably won't like. Also, no chance of somebody even attempting to rape me - yeah, I am extremely suspicious if I were to go to a party or a club. You'll have a hard time getting to slip me some roffies!
Plus, I like being at home. Everything I need is here and I'm comfortable.
I can wear crash outs and nobody cares.

Moths.

My parents have let me take sips from their alcoholic drinks as well. It's not very often I like it though. I suppose the only drink I know that I definitely like is rum. Beer is disgusting, and so is every wine I've tasted so far.

And going to clubs? Can you wear your pyjamas's to them? No? Oh well, I'll stay at home then.

I've seen plenty of people at clubs in their pyjamas. t's apparently quite the thing in Manchester right now, according to my dad's girlfriend.

Oh, and Irn Bru goes brilliantly with vodka. Almost too well.

I haven't gone to a club in ages. I dislike blaring music and I am almost allergic to crowded places. Interacting is not a problem per se, but how are you supposed to interact with people if you can't fucking hear them or reach them 'cause people keep pushing past you? Yeah, I'm not a big fan of clubs. I prefer home or a house party (with people I care about)

I just got the Bad Ending for Persona 4 - on Purpose!
It's... kind of boring... I thought this was supposed to be a sad ending and all.

Although I do like the scene with Dojima at the end, where he starts saying something.
"...if there is evil in the world..."

Which, to me, is how Morrison's (and Dhaos') famous quote from Tales of Phantasia begins.

edit

Mh? I just replayed the last part again and managed to not get the Bad Ending... but I still skipped right to March 21st and to the End. Weird, I'm pretty sure I constantly chose the parts saying, "Dude this isn't over yet!" even before this part... I'll check a guide, maybe I picked a wrong option during the prolonged scene.
Ah, indeed I did.

I only played Persona 4 up to now and the message is pretty clear.
SEEK ZA TRUUUS! And BE TYU TOO YASELF!
The music, the opening and the game conversations repeatedly tell me that.

And all I know now is that I have to go through the last three levels of Magatsu Inaba dungeon A THIRD FUCKING TIME cause Rise takes too long to let me escape battles, I keep having Shepard killed and I'm out of Moon Tsukubame, which would allow me to resurrect him.
And this is especially bad because the freaking disc is being slow, taking its time to load the damn spells.

Yes, I ran out of the 10 Tsukubame you get for Beginner Difficulty just before the end of the game.

I'm still pissed I have to go through there again!! This is the one thing I dislike about not playing games on an emulator. I don't have anything that allows me to work it as a save-state. Nothing where I can save before something happens, then simply reload to save myself some aggro.

Lately I've been adjusting to the 9-to-5(:30) life as a summer intern. It's not so bad, really, although there's a certain 'is this it?' feeling I'm now experiencing, as the conveyor belt of life (at least, for me, as I'm not really interesting in say, a SO) has pretty much stopped now (I have ridiculously valuable work experience and thus shouldn't have much difficulty finding a job after I graduate). As a result, now I'm worried that there isn't much left to achieve in this world, as there geniunely isn't much else I want.

Hm....maybe I'll just play more video games...

Next week I'm going to be working at a law firm as an assistant, but only to see if a job and training there would work out. I have to be there by 8 AM and then work until 5 PM... considering how I haven't worked full-time before, nor have I worked 9 hours a day before, I'm wondering if I can do it. I'm not used to an early schedule anymore.

It took me a couple of weeks to get used to full-time work, but since I got to know the work and the people in the company a bit more, things have been looking up and the hours honestly fly by. Good luck!

This is just something me and Emiko Gale were just discussing, what do you think about changing my name from Gnobo to...Emiyo Gavi?

Now you guys are probably going to think I'm being incredibly obsessive over her, but truth is that she actually likes Emiyo Gavi, and even though I do tend to copy her quite a lot, she says that she appreciates it since she knows I actually listen to her.

But I wanna hear you guys...do you think Gnobo's become way too iconic to die out? Or do you think I could use a fresh, new name like this one?

I've gotten used to calling you Gnobo, so I'm in favor of you keeping your current username, but it's ultimately your call.

I don't like it. Gnobo's cemented itself as regular member status, and I can't see it as anything else. Remember that one time you got your name change? Pfft. I don't even remember what it was.
You changing your name is like me changing my name to something that DOESN'T have Blak in it. It just doesn't work, and nobody will know who you are anymore. You'd have to work your way up back to the top.

YOU SHALL NOT CHANGE YOUR NAME TO SOMETHING OTHER THAN GNOBO!
I'm Blak, and I have shit taste.

Please keep on being Gnobo. I'm used to it and it's a very cool name.

I myself thought of my name as bland and too simple, but not only I didn't know what to put instead, I also became used to seeing my posts under the VCM name. So... just be yourself man. Also you changing your name to that one would make us mix you up with Emiko all the time.

Haha! It looks like all of you want to let me keep my old name don'tcha?

Let's see what the old Em has to say about my potential new name...*channels Emiko's spirit* "Pfft! They'll get used to it."

....Hmmm
