Are there any actions you can take in this game that would cause you would get a nonstandard game over?

Something of the "don't show Shelly the video" variety? Something else entirely?

I'm curious, does Phantom's breakdown change to fit in with the culprit of Turnabout Return and possibly some other characters from that case once Turnabout Return is completed? And does the credits change to fit in the new characters?

Oh, and since the localization team was credited in the credits, I heard, does it list who would dub the anime scenes?

Spoiler: Final boss
Nope, it's the same.

Bolt Storm wrote:

Not that I see. I know Cup of Tea Productions Inc. does something else... but I didn't quite catch it on this run through. :sillytrucy:

Speaking of which, could someone translate all the lines from the credits? I'm not good with auto-scrolling.

I did some checking online and it sounds like Cup of Tea rarely is able to list the voice over cast of a game because of some union rule put in place by the Screen Actor's Guild. They seem to be a very small company that's only run by like 2 people, which probably means they are cheap which is probably why they were hired. But they've done some big games so I would assume they are good.

We know Sam Reigel is Phoenix; Hopefully we'll be able to find out the rest of the cast somehow.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

They're how Athena and one other character imagine how it would be if they were in the show, as I recall. No alternate universe stuff here.

We'll probably just have to wait until the game comes out. Not like Capcom is going to tell us if we ask, obviously.

For example: Does the rookie Athena take longer to realise some things than the experienced Phoenix?
Does Apollo feel like you're playing as someone else?
Most importantly of all, do they think differently?

I've been wondering about asking this or not, and yeah, might as well.

In the meanwhile... I've come up with a new question regarding Phoenix, and since nobody has answered yet... (not that I noticed :udgy: )

I've read that he acts like his Trials & Tribulations self, what does one mean by this? I assume it means he's more experienced, but... How does that work in the game, seeing that experienced or not, it's always the player who plays, not him.

Sorry for the handful of questions regarding mostly the same thing

Of course; they're very different characters. But regarding the difficulty levels, they increase over the course of the game, rather than depending on who's at the defense's bench. Yet, they do go along a scale of "being able to recover from hits well" to "flopping whenever they're hit". Interestingly, I never saw an instance of a double-penalty or full-penalty being instated.
To whether they "think" differently, do you mean if their strategies in court are different? If so, yes, in a way. Phoenix does occasionally lead in with his classic bluffs, to which the other two don't. He's also much more persistent with a line of argument... until he's shut up by a bird or something. (And about his acting like his T&T self, it's a better comparison than that between him and his AJ self. There's not much mention to his poker face or drinking habits, but he acts fatherly to everyone at the office.)
When it's just Apollo and Athena at the bench, Apollo acts a bit more like a mentor as long as he isn't knocked down - which admittedly, is pretty frequent. I personally think Athena works better as an assistant, rather than a playable character, but her role in the 3rd case is important for plot and stuff. She fumbles as any newbie would in her first trial, but unlike with Phoenix or Apollo during their firsts, she needs a bit more support to get through.

Oh no... I just clicked the link to the Cup of Tea site. To me it seems that all the games they've been responsible for are games with cheesy or generic acting. Like the Tales of series. They all have that podcast feel to their voice overs, like the voices are detatched from the room they're supposed to be in.

I really hope this doesn't mean the anime scenes will have cheap voice overs.

Thank you so very much, this is percisely what I was hoping for.

Spoiler: Opinion on the above
In general, I quite like this, I really like those times where Wright decides that he's right because he can't be wrong and just bluffs his way to the truth (and makes stuff up as he goes).
Much to my (pleasant) suprise, from what you described, Apollo and Athena don't do it as often, which is precisely what I was looking for, Apollo is not as experienced as Wright (as can be seen in his game, where he did essencialy the same thing as Phoenix, with the exception everyone had to lead him INCLUDING the bloody prosecution) so he should not act as such. I also feel that mentor thing fits him (can't explain why).
Athena needs more help than Apollo for her first trial?! Brilliant! In his first, Phoenix hanged in there until he got stuck and Mia just gave him the answer. Apollo barely did any laywer stuff, to me, Phoenix defended himself after a certain point. So, if Athena needs more help that this, that's just great, since she's considered a genius of sorts (from what I've read) it only makes it better if she isn't the best defence attorney arround right from the beggining.

  • Case 5: Fail on Fulbright's second testimony (eg. the final one).
  • Turnabout Return: Fail on Ikuya's Mood Matrix segment. (You actually have to do this one indirectly by screwing up presenting corroborating evidence after picking out the "sadness" emotion, because Mood Matrix has no penalties and all that.)

I apologize if this was discussed but reading through 12+ pages takes a bit too long for me...

Spoiler: at least 5-3, maybe other cases in GS5
Someone said that Kristoph is mentioned in case 3... Can anyone be more specific as to what that entails? Be as spoilery as you wish. Also, are his black psyche-locks discussed?

Also perhaps this is off topic but did anyone find the new emotion-type mechanics gimmicky and forced, or do they add nicely to the story?

Spoiler: Case 3,5
Klavier appears for a bit during the case to put on a mock trial, and Kristoph is briefly discussed. When Pearl shows up later in the game, she explains that black psyche-locks show up only when someone is hiding something that's a secret even to them, and could damage them emotionally if revealed. The ones relating to Kristoph in particular remain unexplained, however.

Really? Wow.

Spoiler: 4-4, 5-3,5-5
Even if Kristoph's locks remain unexplained, the implications of that are pretty huge for GS4. I doubt we'll ever hear of them again, if we don't in GS5, but I would really like to know what that all means in regards to Kristoph.

Spoiler:
He keeps seeing Athena's reactions to the case, causing him to doubt her, so he covered his eye to stop himself from perceiving her.

...Or at least, that's what others said. I missed the in-game explanation, assuming that was it ^^"

I thought Blackquill used his bare hand to cut things off... That doesn't make any sense, but well, Godot created coffee cups from nowhere xD So, does he use a knife?

I'm not English. Excuse my grammar errors.

Well, it's practically just a line that slices off that bang... :yogi: And then it falls back into place. You can see in action here.

Spoiler:
Even he doesn't know. He apparently got so caught up in pretending to be other people, he's forgotten his own identity.

He doesn't use a knife, as far as I know. Blackquill has a samurai motif, the joke being that he uses a quick slash of his "sword" to cut you.
