This probably would not be the worst, but it is in the bottom down in my list and its called "The Legend of Kage 2". I guess I was expecting something more when I bought the game and thus ended in disappointment with the graphics and the story. Gameplay wise it was okay, I did love the bosses it had.

On a more serious note, there aren't really too many games I've played that I would refer to as "bad". I usually do a good bit of research before buying them, whether that's by reading reviews or just by word of mouth. Yeah, I'll get one that has some annoying points, but most of them had some sort of redeeming quality.

Recently, the game that got me most angry at its design flaws was L.A. Noire, but that was because Rockstar's DRM BS wouldn't let me past the title screen. I checked for a solution online and apparently a whole bunch of other people were having this issue, so much that it was one of the top auto-fill results in Google. Yet Rockstar hasn't decided to fix the issue yet. It's like they didn't even check to see if it would work on Steam before releasing it.

Trust me, L.A. Noire is going to disappoint you much more than that. But it's still a very good game.

I played the Xbox 360 version, so I didn't have any of those problems.

L.A. Noire wasn't a disappointment for me by any means. It looked, played, and sounded exactly as advertised. In 2011 (and still today really) we had almost no new IPs, but L.A. Noire was one of the few new great ideas.

Never had a problem playing L.A. Noire for my X-Box 360 either. Guess that's one instance where console > PC. I agree that it's also a fantastic game.

E.T. is bad, but it's not the worst game ever. First off, consider the system limitations back then. Secondly, Atari developers usually took a few months to make the game. The E.T. team had a few weeks.

E.T. isn't the sole cause of the video game crash. The U.S. market was over-saturated with consoles and games already. That's why the industry "crashed" for a brief time.

Megaman X-7 for PS2 or Sonic Heroes for PS2. Just so we're clear, Sonic Heroes is not a horrible game, but the PS2 version had a gameplay-breaking glitch that made about every 3rd press on the X-button count as if you double-tapped it, making Sonic boost out of the way, ruining your run.

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. Oh, where do I begin with this trainwreck...?

The story's not bad, I will admit. That's pretty much the only reason I kept going. The new characters introduced weren't too bad either, despite being a bit flat.

The 3D models are awful. Their faces are scrunched up and just look BAD. The combat is also bad. There are special moves you can perform with the touch screen, but if you mess up even once, you pretty much just wasted a turn. Not to mention that the enemies' defenses and attack are through the roof. The music is boring and repetitive, and I thought if I had to listen to it for a second more I'd start pulling my hair out.

I could go on about this, but I'd be here all day. It's not worth the time or the effort just to look at it.

Not to mention the final fight. You are basically doing 99999999 HP damage from the slightest touch, and so is your enemy, you both have ??? HP, and you just need to do a single special move (that's forced on you every turn) and you win. :Kristoph-hair: :paynehair: That's what happens when you hire a Godmodder to come up with a final boss fight. :keiko:

I....I liked Sonic Chronicles...in fact I was sad it was received so poorly because it meant it would never get a sequel (I'm pretty sure I heard it was meant to be a franchise) plus the thought of a Sonic RP was pretty cool.

I didn't mind the action to do special moves, it was unique and interesting and reminded me of the old RPG "Legend of Dragoon" which was freaking awesome with it's engaging system and Elite Beat Agents.

The 3D models didn't really bother me as on the DS....I don't really recall any 3D models looking amazing.

I didn't have an especially difficult time with enemies so I can't say whether their stats were absurdly high.

I also liked how it had so many party members. I hear a lot of Sonic fans complain about this (but the Sonic fanbase doesn't know WHAT it wants consistently), that they are sick of games featuring Sonic's 'sidekicks' so to speak and want less of the side cast but man I love Knuckles and the side cast. Gimme more Blaze and Tails and Knuckles! I loved how it involved them all and they all had their unique little things and their team up moves....also Cream was broke.

An yeah...the final fight was terribly easy but hey...you are Super Sonic. In most Sonic games I feel super overpowered come the grand finale as Super Sonic and the fights feel easy. I figured it was more a scripted battle purely for show (like those dramatic fights from FF9 where you have to lose) just to roll it off and didn't mind it as such. After all this was the first attempt at a Sonic RPG, converting Super Sonic into a somewhat balanced character was always going to be a trial.

Anyway....I liked it :sadshoe:

Hey man, you're entitled to your own opinion. Don't feel bad about it just because your opinion isn't the majority.

I actually kinda liked the game before...but then I replayed it and found myself so frustrated with it that I couldn't get past the Rock place in the Twilight Cage. Those enemies had so high defense that my special moves only did one damage to them. I did like some of the RPG aspects, though, like the party members. The special moves were kinda fun, but most of the time you didn't know what was coming next and it didn't give you much time to react. And, like I said, if you messed up it stopped performing the move altogether.

The game had it's flaws, but it wasn't completely and utterly disastrous. There are worse games out there.

Oh, and Emiko? I love your avatar. Lissa is awesome.

I actually very rarely play lesser-known games, or games I don't know/think are good, so I'm afraid my options are a bit more limited than yours. Just something I wanted to point out before I continue.

That said, I do have one game in particular which comes to mind: Dragon Age 2. I might include some spoilers here, but believe me, you're not missing out on anything.

Have you ever played Dragon Age: Origins? It's amazing. The characters are complex and delightful to talk to, the world is vast, your choices are difficult, many, colorful and can affect the very outcome of the game. You can choose between six different 'origins', which not only starts you of with a completely different story, but alters dialogue choices, options and people's reaction to you later in the game. The story is grand, albeit slightly cliché, and you really get the feeling that you're doing something that matters, and all of your choices affect how you play. If you want to, you can just practically betray or kill everyone in your party, or you can do their well-made personal quests and become best buddies. Everything comes together pefectly, and you are always in control.

Dragon Age 2 is the complete opposite.

Story and gameplay:

You can only play as a human, unlike the previous game where you could choose between the three main races (human, elf and dwarf. I know, I think it's a bit too cliché too). The combat system has gone from something that requires actual planning, thinking and preparation into a horrible abomination where you only press the A button, which makes you do a the SAME series of over the top animations every single time. I'm not even joking. If you play as a rogue, your thumbs will start hurting about five minutes into the game. Oh, and this game is infamous for the 'teleporting enemies', enemies that come from absolutely nowhere just when you think the fight is over. This happens in every. Single. Fight.

So then, what about the story and the characters, you know, what Bioware excels at? It's practically non-existent. You wind up in a boring town called Kirkwall, which has little to no details to it, and you become the city's janitor. All of a sudden you just have to help these people with their trivial and tiring problems, since everybody, and I mean everybody, are helpless without the flat and boring protagonist called Hawke. And if you were hoping for a change of scenery, then too bad; the game only takes place in the town and its outskirts, save for the end of the 'first arc'. Areas and environments are re-used constantly, so you never feel like you discover anything new, either.

You start your new life in this town as a refugee, and you decide that you want to make something out of your life - great, that's a nice motive. How will you go on about doing that? - By collecting 50 gold to afford paying to become part of an expedition. This takes FOREVER, and you have to run around and do boring quest after boring quest. If, by some miracle, you get your hand on 50 gold before you've completed certain quests, you STILL have to do them, because they're relevant (and I use that term VERY lightly) in later arcs.

So off you go on your dangerous expedition, and needless to say, things go wrong.
Spoiler:
The leader betrays you and your crew
, and you're forced to fight your way back. Oh, and you also happen to stumble across some riches, so when you return, you'll be able to live a life of luxury. Wait, so the entire game is over, then? I mean, now you've made something of yourself, is the story over?

Oh I wish. There are TWO more arcs, but I won't go into detail since I barely remember them. There's something about an inevitable uprising which you can't do anything about anyway, and then there's the conflict from the last game, the Mages vs Templars, which you also can't do anything about. It doesn't matter which side you choose to support, because you will still be fighting the same bosses. Your choices NEVER matter, you can barely affect the story in any way.

So in short, the gameplay is horrible, the characters uninteresting, the environments lackluster, you're constantly offered the illusion of choice and the story is NON-EXISTENT! The three 'arcs' feel completely disjointed! Worse, it even ends on such a weird note. It feels like you've accomplished nothing; you've just been running around in a boring town until the credits started rolling. The title of the game should have been 'intermission', because no arc is resolved in a satisfying manner, and one can only guess they're saving that to Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Just because I feel like ranting, I'll talk about the characters before I mention what the game did right.

The characters:

Aveline - The she-hulk who follows you because her husband died. She has no personality whatsoever.

Bethany - I don't even know if that's your sister's name, because she's so forgettable. Either she or your brother dies in the beginning of the game, depending on your class.

Carver - He's an ass, but at least he has some kind of personality. He can also develop as a character later, believe it or not, so he's ½ of a character, although he disappears for the entire second arc and most of the third, so yeah.

Merrill - Cute and dabbles in forbidden magic, oh, but she must know what she's doing because she's adorable, right? Wrong! She blames everyone for her mistakes and you can never and I repeat, NEVER, just grab her by the shoulders and tell her to stop being a bloody moron!

Fenris - I believe he has been repeatedly called 'a Final Fantasy character', but since I've got no experience with that franchise, I'll sum him up in my own words: he's got a huge sword, an angsty voice and never shuts up about how much he has suffered as a slave. That's why, when his slavemaster comes back, I can never resist handing him over, in which case he leaves without even putting on a fight. He's all bark and no bite, that one. His one saving grace is that he can actually tells you a few interesting things about where he comes from.

Anders - A previously-lovable character from the Dragon Age. Origins expansion pack. He used to make jokes and never take anything seriously, so I was overjoyed when I saw him here. But guess what, that's not who he is anymore. Nope, now he never shuts up about the plight of mages. That's his entire character.
Spoiler:
I guess I should mention he also blows up the church, single-handedly triggering a war between Mages and Templars. Of course, it doesn't matter if you choose to help him with this or not, he'll just do it anyway.

Isabela - She likes sex. That's her character.

I don't know if I've forgotten someone, because none of these have made a lasting impression on me. But because I want my 'reviews' to be balanced, I'll also mention what this game did right.

The good:

Banter - the dialogue between your characters can be very amusing at times, provided they don't try and talk about their complex feelings toward X, which happens more often than you'd like. I swear, it's like half the banter was written by a comedian and the other half by a depressed 14-year-old.

Cameos - Depending on your choices in Origins (i.e not THIS game), some characters will drop by and say hi and talk about what they've been up to, and it's handled rather well, except that the protagonist of the first game has 'mysteriously disappeared', like every playable character in every Bioware game ever...or maybe that was just
Spoiler:
Revan
.

Varric Tethras - The only character they managed to do right. He's hilarious, roguish yet surprisingly wise, has quite a few personality quirks (telling stories, disturbingly fondle with his weapon 'Bianca', which by the way has more of a personality than the rest of the cast). He's also the narrator of the story, and chooses to spice things up a bit sometimes, which is more than welcomed. Too bad he doesn' do that for the entirety of the game.

I could go on about this, but I won't. I hope you enjoyed reading this!

Thane you should FIX your post you don't seem to have given any consideration for spoilers about that game.

Spoiler: Like these
Getting betrayed in the mines and MOST IMPORTANTLY Ander's blowing up a church.

That last one is a massive climactic spoiler and you've just dropped it there. Now I can understand hating this game and not wanting other people to play it but revealing spoilers about it to ruin the few twists is not the way to go about it.

Also Merrill is awesome though if you are in a romance with her you can give her a little telling I'm sure. f

You are absolutely right. It was incredibly inconsiderate of me, and I have fixed it.

The thing is that she just doesn't listen to you. She refuses to believe anything that happens is her fault, and that all the consequences of her magic is due to the ignorance of others.

Spoiler:
At the end of her personal quest, when the Keeper sacrifices herself to save her from getting possessed by the Pride Demon, Merrill will cry when she gets home and say 'if only she had listened', proving that she has learned nothing.

Are you kidding!? You're telling me that out of all the crap that exists, you're choosing that! It may not be any masterpiece, but Shadow Dragon is far from a bad game.

I don't generally play bad games. So yeah, I'm serious.

I'm not sure if these games count, as I'm pretty sure (I hope, at least) that they're troll games.

But, there's an internet game called Supra Mayro Kratt, and earlier I watched a Let's Play of it on YT...
I think my brain exploded with the stupidity...
Here's the release trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mWFL-3PbV5U

Revenge of the Sunfish is also pretty...messed up...

Also, Typing of the Dead.

Spider-man for the N64. It was good at the time but now, compared to how well other games from that era hold up... :ron:

Name 3 games of the N64 area that still holds up to games these days in terms of controls, interest and all that. I can't think of a single one - I may like Harvest Moon 64, but it does not really hold up.

I'd say Paper Mario holds up pretty well... But that's kind of cheating since it's an RPG. xP

Why is it cheating if it's an RPG?

Since you mentioned Paper Mario may as well stick the regular Super Mario RPG on their as well since its really good too.

Well, I hate the N64 controller, but playing Majora's Mask on the Wii in recent years, using the GCN controller, it held up very well for me and I fell in love with that game. I find the GCN controller vastly superior to the N64 one, but seeing as the controls were responsive enough and I garnered much interest in the game, and seeing as it was my first time and all, I think it's held up pretty well. I still think the zora has some of the best swimming controls in any adventure game I've ever played. It's probably one of the very few games where I can say swimming is actually fun. I still think the graphics are pretty impressive for its time and it's still nice to look at. Ocarina of Time, not so much.

I don't think any N64 games at all have really held up as far as controls go on their native system, but I credit that more to the N64 just being a bad controller. I find games from that era much more enjoyable when put on a different console that has a much superior controller.

Graphics wise, I'd say almost anything by Rare still holds up pretty nicely save for Goldeneye. I loved that game back in the day, but it just looks terrible now. The Banjo-Kazooie series, DK64, and Perfect Dark still look rather nice to me. Diddy Kong racing is so-so, but it's still fun. Like an earlier post mentioned, Paper Mario still looks nice as well. I'll admit that not many games from the N64 era hold up nicely, but I do find a few that I still feel delivers solid fun and looks nice. As far as systems go, I still feel the SNES has plenty of games that still hold up very well.

I suppose since I should mention a game that I've played that I really could not stand, I'll go ahead and say Mario Kart 7 on the 3DS. I think it could have been a potentially fun game, it had some fun courses, loved the ideas of your vehicle changing up and such, but the thing that really killed it for me were the cheap AIs. I hear people complaining all the time about getting constantly bombarded by blue shells in Mario Kart Wii, ruining the experience for them. Never happened to me in Wii, but it's been constant in 7. It really gets frustrating every time I'm in the middle of a cup, on the final lap on the third or fourth track, nicely in first, and no lie, always getting bombarded by at least 3 blue shells back to back to back, followed by a couple of red shells. It's not a fun time when I'm finishing races in 8th place after being so far ahead because the AI decides to cheapen the experience for me. I'm all for items, but I feel this game takes it way too far. I might give the game another shot right now, but when I'm playing a game and all I'm doing is getting frustrated at a game and there's nothing I can really do about it, it's not a fun time and it kills it for me.

I'm very tempted to want to put Sticker Star on here too, but I can't. It's not a bad game from what I've played, but it's not good either. It's just very mediocre and bland. I've never had the motivation to finish it, but it's more along the lines of "I got bored" rather than "the game sucks". Everything was responsive, the music was great, and the graphics looked nice, but it just feels so empty.

Have I listed Persona 3 Portable on this thread yet?

Now, I in no way mean that the game itself is bad, I just felt it was incredibly inferior to Persona 4 I played first. I know that P3P was made with some of the Persona 4 Elements, but I think where Persona 3 Portable fell short was a really bad way of falling short.

I felt the story was incredibly boring, not to mention that the pacing was terrible. Persona 4 had bad pacing, but there something happened every two or three weeks, while in P3, something happened for one night of the month. With a reminder a week before that something would happen the next fullmoon, although you can see the moon symbol growing larger in the corner of your screen.

Every Social Link character in the Male and the Female route seemed incredibly dull to me, there was nothing somehow hilarious or even goofy enough about them that made me laugh. As much as I hate Teddie from P4, I can at least say he's more interesting than Junpei from P3.

Speaking of Social Links: the summer vacation!
Now, in the Male route I can understand that you cannot upgrade majority of your Social Links, because majority of them were school-only, so they couldn't be ranked up when you weren't in school over summer. But considering the Female route added practically every SEES member as a Social Link, why did they not change the mechanic of being able to rank those up during the Summer?

And the Visual Novel style... I like Visual Novels, but it just didn't seem to work for Persona 3, it made scenes that I'm sure were dramatic and all in the FES/PS2 version or so good, but here it ruined the atmosphere.

So those are pretty much the things that made the game so terrible for me. The battle system was neat, being practically made into the P4 system, but I was just too bored when playing the game and I just wanted it to end already.
