Exactly what it says. What is the most mind-scaringly awful atrocity that you have ever subjected your retinas into viewing on the Internet?

I decided to start this thread because I accidentally stumbled upon the infamous shock site "Meatspin." While it isn't the worst thing I've ever seen nor the worst thing on the Internet, it got me thinking on what other ones exist. This thread is for the people who've actually seen these types of images/videos. It can be absolutely anything. The only conditions is that the poster has to have seen it with his/her own eyes. And so this doesn't become an NSFW thread, please don't post links of the the actual photo or video.

I look forward to hearing your horror stories. :grey:

The worst things I've seen on the internet... well, slightly worse than something I saw in a porn magazine... had to be a toss-up between the goatse guy and
Spoiler: let's face it, there's no graceful way of saying this
a bunch of random pics of genital piercings and people apparently having a contest to see who can stuff the largest random object up their assholes.

Beyond that, some horrors have come close, such as
Spoiler: ...actually, none of this is nice, but then, why are you reading this thread if you were expecting otherwise, you sickos? D:
a medical diagnosis of a prolapsed anus (video), or sebaceous cyst extraction (video), maggots nesting in the heel of a living human (picture), a person's self-extraction of a severely ingrown toenail or a toe jigger (both video), pics of any type of necrosis/necrotizing fasciitis, a post-explosion arm of a man who used synthol (video)...

I blame The Portal of Evil (dead) and now PoETV for finding all these amazing trainwrecks.

That's the visual side.

Fanfiction.Net served to complete the desensitizing with a handful of lovely Star Wars stories by an author named Arco. Think of every godawful kink you've read ever since you were old enough to stumble across a kink site. Now imagine all of them in a condensed four pages with every Star Wars character you thought you knew and loved.
Spoiler: definitely belongs behind a tag... in Ramsay Snow's basement. Don't click if you enjoy having eyesight
Blood, gore, shit, skullfucking, old people anal sex, racism, statutory rape, old person fellatio, masturbation with a light saber in two ways, vomiting shit-kissing, fatal assfisting, regular anal sex, penectomy by hand, self-amputation, amputated limb fucking, brutal ballsack pummeling, decapitation, and finishing off with underaged person fellatio.

And that was just one of the stories.

It was the last time I ever asked, "Is nothing sacred?"

Oddly, this person had written normal SW fics as well, and those weren't bad at all. The majority of his work has been lost to the masses, however.

One time I read a page on Encyclopedia Dramatica, that one where shit gets more gruesome as you scroll down... I forget the name but you've probably heard of it. I was only 14... And at school. I was scarred for years to come.

Ah, that page. For this thread I'll just say, whenever my friend was over in our younger years at high school, we'd spend days on /b/ and other such places.

I believe that page is called "Offended." I looked it up, and at first it's just pictures of cute animals. But the moment I first saw that first gruesome image, I was like "Hell no" and immediately clicked away. I'm scared to go back. :beef:

Anything that involves pedophilia, child abuse, zoophilia, zoosadism, etc.
When it comes to "gruesome" things, I can handle it. Actual crime scene photos, autopsy video and/or photos, etc. I don't get grossed out easily.

I have to agree with Emiko. There are some pretty disturbing things on the Internet, but the idea that another person can so passionately wish for the death and eternal torture of millions of people he/she has never met... the idea that someone actually derives pleasure from the thought of other people suffering and dying... in my eyes, there's something thoroughly terrifying and disheartening about that, far more than anything a shock site can conjure up.

Heh

The worst thing I've ever seen on the net.

Hmmm.

Spoiler: I've seen it all... But this.
Child pornography, not the drawn stuff either.
Actual pictures of actual children being taken forcibly.
I reported it all when I saw it, found the damn stuff by following a chain of links.
I can still see their faces, That shit don't fly with me.

Also, I've seen plenty of vids of people killing themselves. Not that hard to find really.

To be fair, you can find some of that off the internet too.

The internet just makes it more accessible...and anonymous.

Still, self-rightious, judgemental, arrogant, hypocritical people on the internet are worse than any fetish, stoner art, scene kid, to me.

Some death threats were aimed toward me...Indirectly but still.

Eh, who cares. People who boast about what they'll do and all that tend to be the one who don't do it. A dog's bark is worse than its bite. I think that's the proverb I'm aiming for? Plus, as Adrian pointed out, the internet gives people anonymity which makes it easier for them to voice things.
I know quite a few people I have encountered on the internet that I'd like to hurt. Not particularly kill, but beating them up sounds wonderful. However, since I know that it's incredibly unlikely we'll ever meet in real life, I know it's just a momentary fantasy thing and then let it go.

Plus... well, Emiko, not everybody someone will meet in life will like them or vice versa. Just part of life, sometimes people dislike someone for silly reasons they can't even explain themselves. Just because 'they exist' while it isn't a good reason, it's an explanation... not a good one, but still. Maybe just a chemistry thing.

Might sound weird but one of the worst things I've seen on the internet is some of the grammar. I know chat-speak and all, but some people are really pushing that way of talking. It takes me almost 5 minutes to figure out what they're talking about.
Especially bad, though, I think are the ones that aren't English speakers, but write in such decent English and yet still apologize for their 'terrible' English, although it's pretty spot on... but that's more of a pet peeve.

Although threats and such on the internet are usually people acting 'tough', it's discouraging because then you see that so many people have that horrible side to them, even if it doesn't come out 'irl'.

That's just part of human nature. I'm always suspicious of someone who is acting kind and nice all the time, it makes me feel uncomfortable. Like, isn't it hard for them to be nice all the time? How do they unwind at home?
People who are nice all the time strike me as more dangerous and more inclined to severe violence than people who are easy to anger and yell a lot.

I think that those "extremely nice" people could also be considered as dangerous. If they never get angry, one day something is going to set them off, releasing all that suppressed hate and fury. People should have a healthy balance of both kindness and anger. If someone is pissing you off, you can be forward with them without exploding. But if you're too nice, that could make you an easy target for being taken advantage of.

Yes, you're right. That level of negativity can be a real mood-killer, especially when it's rampant. But when that happens, you can react in several ways. You can ignore it, match their ugliness word-for-word, be dismissive of what they say, or kill them with kindness. You can also remember all the awesome people in the world, the ones who aren't fraudulent jerks that hide behind internet personas, the ones who don't hurt or desire to hurt others out of boredom or pleasure. But you don't have to let it ruin your day.

But in the event it gets too discouraging... here's a puppy. And some kittens.

It all depends. Some people are genuinely nice. We don't all have the same life experiences, so while some assholes are forcing a smile on their face in public yet are generally being horrible people in their private lives, some people actually grew up in a loving home, surrounded by good family and friends, were taught good values and life lessons and are genuinely kind at least most of the time.

It's kind of unfair to attack someone for being "nice all the time" and then assume they randomly blow up like a grenade under conditions no one else would. A lot of people will bend under pressure, and everybody has a breaking point...regardless of what kind of person they are.

I think "passive" is the term you're looking for.

You can be nice and never take shit from anyone.

That's exactly what I mean.
It's kind of scary to think what kind of unwinding a person has to go through to get to such a nice state. And as you say, if they have nothing to help them vent, when they explode, they really explode. Which could result in more than just one injured or even dead person.

Of course, but you cannot hold it against people to be, at the very least, weary of genuinly nice people. Overall, I'd say majority of humanity does not have the loving home, good life lessons, family and friends that ends with them being nice - while they may have them, they could still have some shortcoming or some experience that makes them weary or just envious of people who do have all that.
And as TopHatProfessor says, people who are genuinly nice can be taken advantage of very easily. I don't quite see how a person who is genuinly nice can have grown up with the good life lesson of "Keep a certain amount of suspicion" or "Don't trust too easily" because then that might not be seen as being genuinly nice. It just somehow doesn't quite in my brain...

I personally hate conflict myself, I prefer it when people get along with each other, so in turn, I try my best to be nice to others as much as I can as I prefer peace myself. Though its not without its flaws and growing up I've realized that. I've still had my feelings hurt from those I've trusted, those I've tried my best to be genuinely nice to. You know what, I suck it up. I'm still going to be nice to others, even when I get attacked. I don't think being nice makes you a pushover, you can still have a backbone. I don't need to lash out at someone or be a jerk to show that I can stand up for myself. I believe in the philosophy of loving someone to death. Why wage war needlessly with someone, it's pointless and all it does is make you angry and frustrated. I can be nice despite all that and still be genuine because that's who I try to be and that's who I am. This was a hard lesson I learned back in high school the hard way, but I don't regret it. I've learned to be patient with people, no matter what. Make fun of me, lash out at me, I don't care, I'm not treating you any different because you're still a person like me, and I want to treat you how I'd like to be treated.

Now patience with electronics that don't work, that's a different story!

I'd have to go with the "offended" page on ED too. I came across it again the other day after I'd finished reading Cheerios porn.

Also, when I was about 11, I would go on rotten.com and.... yeah. It was grim. You'd think looking at stuff like that at such a young age would fuck me up but I'm completely fine *violently twitches and accidentally sets fire to a barrel of kittens*

I do nice things for other people and not for my benefit. So if someone turns on me it's no big deal...I've survived and I can't expect everyone to be nice back.

As long as I'm being genuine it doesn't matter if everyone else is being fake.

But to be honest it's harder to be nice than it looks. :/ Even I struggle.

I've grown up in a generally healthy and loving home, but I admit that my life still isn't without its ups and downs, and I'm not the most perfect person in the world, either.

I do want to be nice to everyone, but I've also had problems with short-temperedness (why I don't participate in a lot of the more...heated...conversations on the forums). Thankfully, those issues haven't been coming up in me in recent days. However, I also have problems with always being concerned about what other people think or say about me, which is one reason why I have hints of perfectionism in my behavior. Another big reason is that I just hate to see people disappointed in me after they've put such high hopes in me.

Um, I don't know what this thread has turned into, but...

I say that the worst thing I've ever seen in the internet (in the sense that it made me so angry I nearly grew a fucking aneurysm) was the Harlem Shake meme. God damn it that is some uncreative bullshit and you couldn't be a minute in the internet without seeing someone doing their version of the Harlem Shake (like someone fucking cares) and in the most ridiculous ways, from famous TV shows/Movies casts doing it backstage to stupid teenagers with low-quality cameras doing it on house parties.

You know what the problem is with memes? Imagine I tell you a joke, you laugh at it, and a minute later I tell you the exact same joke

(Oops, must've gotten a little carried away there. My bad. ^^; )

And now there's videos trying to avert the Harlem Shake meme...which will become a meme in and of itself.

No, no, not you, I mean I had some trouble understanding what the thread was about with all the different things being said here

Yeah, I know, anti-memes are memes themselves... People should just think twice before posting stuff online --'

I don't know what this Harlem Shake is... but it sounds annoying.
Like the Gangnam stuff that I also don't know what it is, but still annoys me.

Memes are funny at times. Just... when they get overused...
Every single time I see something that has any number of views, hits, etc that are above the number of 9000, I just know some genius is gonna come by and say "IT'S OVER NINETHOUSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND!!" because wasn't that just the BEST part of the Dragonball Z Dub?

No. No it wasn't.
And if I see one more meme that takes the FF VII screenshot where Aerith says "This guy are sick..." and says how funny that is, I will scream. THAT IS NOT FUNNY PEOPLE, it's a terrible, terrible mistake that should never have passed quality check.

I wonder if when he needs a poo he has to be quick in case it just falls out. That butthole has been destroyed.

Have any of you guys seen 1 Man 1 Screwdriver?

Spoiler:
I haven't seen it, but I know very well what it is. A guy puts a screwdriver in his dickhole and keeps twisting and twisting until blood starts spurting out.

All I had to see was the thumbnail picture and I was out of there faster than you could say WTF. :beef:

There's also the BME Pain Olympics. They're luckily fake, but I still hear that they're disgusting.

I believe I've seen one of those, if my memory isn't deceiving me. They are quite... intense.
