Oh god, people are being idiots and attacking me again on the Skyward Board... they were so nice and quiet and civil for a while, why did it start up again? Oh yes, PappinAce opened up a fucking new topic. And how dare they say I made a grammatical mistake? I did not! It is absolutely acceptable to say "this is the norm, EXCEPT in this case" because there are exceptions. I do not make grammatical mistakes! I may make one when my brain isn't awake enough or I make typos, but no grammatical mistakes!

Upside is, after having a terrible time sleeping, my cold is now in the phase where inhaling doesn't hurt my nose and said nose doesn't run as much anymore. So that's something.

I'm off to participate in an intriguing game of 'Heaven or Hell' tonight.

A game of imagination where you and some friends take the roles of angels and demons in the endtimes in a final battle to persuade the souls of earth to pick a side before Judgement Day.

My aunt randomly decided to spend some days over here, so from now on I'll have to babysit my 12-year-old cousin sometimes. Up until now it hasn't been a bad time, actually; she's a pretty mature girl and I'm having a lot of fun moments. But occasionally I just want to be alone...

Hmm, kinda feel like I should start posting logs of my tabletop RPG sessions, at least Black Crusade, since that's been hilarious.
Maybe Deathwatch, too, since even though it's more combat-oriented our group spent an entire session with the fallout of a particularly evil-looking locked box. And we've well documented the fauna of a death world when we were meant to be fighting Orks. We almost all died, too. Oh, and the command structure has changed at least three times. Truly, we are proud Space Marines.
Both of these being Warhammer 40k, of course, which find is quite a good universe for RPGs.

Anyway, now for Black Crusade shenanigans. Which I should probably start off by describing the party so far. We have:

-Me, a Heretek (being a heretical version of a Techpriest) who's more machine now than man, with a mechanical parrot that can talk as a minion. I also own the shuttle, that has on three occasions in one session almost killed the entire party, due to only theoretically being fit for flight. I also have the Archaeology trade, so if we stumble upon ancient tombs or the like, I'm our man.

-A very, very posh man with mountains of extravagant clothing, who burns the clothes after wearing them once. His entire character is built around charming people, with ridiculous degrees of success. Very useful for getting in with any local warlords or acquiring hard-to-get items. (Incidentally, a former Rogue Trader, though none of us know that in-character.)

-A bounty hunter going for the gunslinger look, with one caveat. He doesn't use any guns, just psychic blasts, which of course he uses by making his hands into gun shapes. Because Chaos psychic powers are fun. He's obsessed with collecting souls, and aims to have an entire planet's worth of them. Always rolls on the Perils of the Warp table, it seems, which is a danger to him and everyone round him. (Oh, and of course goes by the name of Cad Bane, because the Clone Wars is awesome.)

-A Space Marine who's also a psyker, who's very much used as our "We have a Space Marine!" card. And also takes point. Having a walking tank is useful.

-And a more regular run-of-the-mill mercenary who was introduced exactly as Jayne was in a flashback in Firefly. Also wears fancy outfits and burns them after each day, so maybe your more posh run-of-the-mill mercenary. Devout Slaanesh worshipper, and converting the posh talker to Slaanesh as well. Also pilots the demonic spaceship we now own.

Hehe yeah that's pretty awesome. You get some real fun outta those sessions.

Hell I attended a Thirteenth Age one-off recently and managed to end the night by killing and eating another player character whose player left early.

According to my mother, colds are mostly three or four days of misery. I'm on my third one and I am better than on friday, so I should be starting to feel much better by tomorrow.

Eh, when we say drugs we mean pain killers. Heck, mom got opiates one time when she was incapable of sleep in the ICU. (Whoever thinks ICUs are great, quiet places to rest up in is WRONG!)

When I catch a cold (which is rarely) my only symptom usually is the runny nose. Still, it sucks... I hate not being able to taste a flavor properly and sometimes it fucks up my voice as well.

When you're in severe pain, there is no such thing as a "great, quiet [place] to rest up." Painkillers only go so far when the pain's severe enough.

Yes one theory I've heard is that relying on painkillers and medicine too heavily means your immune system isn't tested or trained and so like a muscle atrophies to some extent so that you'll get sicker easier thus using more medication. :yuusaku:

A million ways to say no.

Seriously though, I don't really have too much of a problem with drugs as long as the users aren't hurting other people. Marijuana is completely harmless when compared to things like cigarettes and alcohol. Why are those things legal, but weed isn't? No one has ever died from it, unlike those other things. Simply tax it heavily, and nothing bad will happen.

Secondly, simply throwing drug users into prisons is a BAD, BAD, BAD idea. If anything, you're making them even worse since they have to go through withdrawal. Can you imagine what that would be like for heroin users? These people belong in medical clinics that offer professional treatment. It's complete bullshit that we throw people who inject junk into their system with the same people that kill, rob, and rape other people. :grey:

I hope so, too, Zoro. I wouldn't want anyone to have to go through that kind of torment. The hospital staff did what they could to make me relatively comfortable, but as with painkillers, they could only do so much.

Well when my mother got the opiates, she managed to sleep for 70 Minutes. And she says that was wonderful, so even if they didn't work for long, they did help somewhat.

And I generally try to not take pain killers. Only time I take ibuprofen is when I have a cold like now or have a really bad migraine, the kind where I go to bed early because I can't stand the idea of staying up longer. Heck, when they took my lower wisdom teeth out during an operation, afterwards I tried to manage without pain killers. I managed for a few hours, then the pain made me cry and I asked the staff for some.

I don't take the "recreational" drugs myself, but I can understand why some people would.

By the way, my husband gave me a link to a subtitled version of Kuroshitsuji's second OVA. So I looked up the voices... Sakamoto Maaya voices Ciel! ZomG, I'm so super duper happy about that, kyaa~! And Daisuke Ono voices Sebastian... to be honest, a lower voice than I had expected. Only downside is, if I see Sebastian now, my first reaction is to see him yell "SERAAAAAAAAAA!!"...

That's pretty much what I meant. Despite the name, painkillers don't necessarily get rid of the pain. Rather, they just bring it down to a more tolerable level so the patient can manage to get some sleep.

Pain killers are basically Narcotics. Its never good to take too much of it because your body will get used to taking it, which leads towards addiction. it should only be taken if the pain is very severe and not just because you feel abit of pain. There is always tylenol and advil for that.

One of my dogs is injured...this morning when I went to pick him up out of his pen (he's rather small, being a Shih-tzu), he shrieked in pain and wouldn't let me touch his stomach or lower back. We took him to the vet and found out that he probably has a back problem of some kind, but their canine acupuncturist (yes, they exist) wasn't going to be available this week so we'll have to wait before we can do anything more. In the meantime, they gave us painkillers and muscle relaxants for him. Our other dog (his brother) is really distressed about the whole situation. I hope everything works out. :/
Now, even if you apologize...I will not forgive you.

That sounds awful. I hate it when animals are in pain, it makes feel so sad. I seem to care about animals more than I do humans. I would be worrying so much if something happened to my hamster. (Something has happened, it only has three legs now, which makes me worry even more.)

Yeah, after my hamster lost it's leg, we became more lenient when it came to giving her biscuits. (She loves them. ^^;;) Of course I'm aware of the health risks, but as long as you get the right balance, it's nice to make your pet happy. They have short lives, after all.
