Seeing as there's a decent-sized contingent of Persona fans in CR:

Da da da...da da...da da da...da da

Also, there's some sort of countdown livestream taking place on Nico Nico Douga.

Yeah, if the teaser is anything to go by (click on the text on that page), there's a good chance that this is gonna be something P4-universe related. What do you guys think? Willing to bet it won't be some sort of mobile app? >:)

Ugh...the last time there was a big countdown I got excited about it turned out to be that dumb TWEWY Port to iOS.

I'm not getting my hopes up XP

They've leaned so hard on P4 I hope they have enough momentum to make a new game.

Which, to be fair, had a stinger for an impending sequel. Which is coming just about as quickly as the damned Bully sequel.

Since Sega acquired Atlas, I hope that more SMT series games will be more accessible. I don't have a PS3/4, so hopefully the next Persona game will be on 3DS and/or Vita, and at least is available for the WiiU if it's on home consoles.

To be doubly-fair we've got no idea what that final image was. Though even now I'm worried they'd make the sequel on iOS.

Though TWEWY aside, I'm not too sure being more 'accessible' is good either. SMT games have always been a little controversial and weird and delightfully Japanese. Heck it's about Demon summoning after all. More 'accessible' could mean less of that good stuff that makes the game so unique.

Oh right... I don't know, I can't get very excited about this. Especially not if it's P4-Universe related, although they say that all the Persona games actually take place in the same universe. Or at least P3 and P4 do. But ever since Persona 4's/Persona 3's sequel turned out to be Arena... which for some unknown reason is getting a freaking sequel itself, I really don't care anymore.

I liked P4, but I think it did a good enough job in finishing its story, we do not need a sequel of that game. If they do, they end up making a game that serves no new information to the game's story or doesn't even have anything to do with the original story to begin with.
Like Knight of Ratatosk. Only made cause Symphonia was a huge success and it turned out mediocre. The story makes no sense, it does nothing to somehow explain things further or add in anything new...

If it's P5, awesome. If I know what it comes out on and if it appeals to me, I might buy it. After I buy Project Diva 2nd f, Princess Maker 5 Portable and some other games I want beforehand.

Arena exists because there was a desire for a Persona fighting game, the plot is tailored around that, the way I see it. Rather than an actual continuation of the Persona Franchise. That said, it contains its own story utilising elements from P3 (the crazy evil scientists experimenting with stuff) and P4 (the TV world). The first game pretty much left off on a cliffhanger with hints of there to be more. Pretty much allows for a sequel to throw more characters in it.

The plot isn't great but like I said it's a fanservice game first and a fighting game though it does have some nice moments (Labrys' story is really good.)

Just realised I posted this in the wrong subforum. My bad. :viola:

Anyway, Atlus came and went, and announced four games:

A (chibified...) Persona 3+4 mashup, Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth for 3DS (5/6/2014)
Persona 4: Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold (no word on X360) for PS3 (2014) - WARNING: Massive Persona 4 spoilers
Some sort of rhythm game called Persona 4 Diva for the Vita (Q4 2014)

And last but not least:

Persona 5 (Q4 2014) (PS3 exclusive!)

So it looks like the P4 lovers as well as the "hurry up with a new universe already" people will both be satisfied - that's a relief. Well, played, Atlus!

I'm curious about Persona 5 though, as it's being released on a current-gen console in a year from now - I know the PS4 is still in it's babby stages, but isn't this still a bit too late? Hopefully it'll be a spectacular game, anyhow (and a great excuse to finally buy a PS3!).

OH MAN dat news.

So the big reveal at the end of the P4UMAXSUPLEX trailer was pretty nice. Dunno what he's saying but I SURE hope he's playable.

That rhythm game I don't have high-hopes for. I mean...sure the music is great but I don't think P4 is a big enough library. Not like Theatrhythm where they drew from a vast series.

Persona Q is possibly the most interesting thing of all for me. New story in actual RPG style with cool established characters?
I mean Persona 5 getting a date and some clues is cool but Q just looks pretty damn good.

I'm loving all of the Persona news today! I'm totally getting all of them except Dancing All Night because I'm not a big fan of the Project Diva-like gameplay. Though seeing Narukami's dance moves is pretty hilarious.

Persona Q seems interesting. I've never played an Etrian Odyssey game before, but the game looks interesting enough. That and I can finally have my dudes Kanji & Junpei on the same team.

P4A 2 looks awesome like always. Hopefully the localization doesn't take long because I loved the first P4A and I can't wait to see the changes in this one. I also hope that Adachi really is playable like they're teasing.

And finally the big one, Persona 5. I had a feeling it would be for PS3. Looks like we may be dealing with some pretty mature themes this time around. More so than P3/P4. Either way, can't wait till we actually get a good look at the game. :phoenix:

Rise, Rise ni shite ageru~

Really, all I can think of when I hear that is basically Vocaloid. But with Persona characters.
What the fuck. Okay, a fighting game I can understand being made (although I feel Story Mode in Arena was TOO TEXT HEAVY. If it's a damn fighting game, I do not want to read for 5 - 7 minutes before getting into a damn battle) but a rhythm game? That has nothing to do with Persona.

Adachi should have been playable from the first game, just leave him as a DLC character. He was such an obvious choice and quite a popular character.

Though Cat I've already explained there's plenty of places if you want to jump straight into the combat in P4A. Arcade mode, or Versus will give you exactly that. Story mode...is for the story...easy fights, long tales, for the folks who bought it purely for Persona's story rather than the actual combat.

I hope there's an option to turn off the auto-combo in the sequel though...it feels a bit like beginner mode in blazblue and that bothers me.

Persona Q looks the most interesting me, if only because it has both protagonists working together and there's some cool implications in that. Really wonder how they do this and it's really intriguing to me to see everyone working together. I hope Shinji is in it, then I can just stick Kanji, Akihiko Shinji and Aigis altogether and stomp everyone's face with muscles.

HYPE MODE ACTIVATED!!!

Ok first of all

Persona 5:

I'm so happy they stick with the PS3 I feared they might go for the PS4. Damn: "You're a slave. Want emanciapation?" My head is running wild. Plus the classroom chair being chainned? Hum... Also it's obvious they want to make 3 and 4 more relevant and with the recent remake of the first ones I wonder if this is not the anticipated sequel that will tie all the games in the series (remember the kirijo was a branch from Nanjo, another character in the Persona universe?) But maybe they just are in need of money since PS4 game are far from cheap to make or just since the mother compagny went down...

Persona 4 Arena 2:

The first one was good though not enough character to buy it again. So I'll just watch the story mode on youtube. Still expecting a lot.

Persona Rythm game:

I was expecting more a game a la theatrythm (would be an insta buy if it was), so a no buy. Plus I don't have a Vita. Cat: Well the music of the persona serie is very popular so...

Persona 3-4 mash up:

I should resist, I really should, but, but. I can't. So this is the rumored Persona game on 3DS announced like 3 years ago? or... Anyway, By the time I'll get use to the chibi graphic it sound awsome. Also, now Theo is a canon character so that's great. Oh and Shinji seem to be playable. Though I have my doubts about the story...

So at least the fans are well served.
Please don't hit me...

I guess so. I haven't noticed much of memberful songs in P2: IS yet, I found P3's music to be incredibly forgettable except for Kimi no Kioku and When the Moon reaches out to the Stars (or whatever and it wasn't even in the Female route) and P4's music is the one that really makes me jump, so I can see that one being good for music games.

But that's the problem. You can't put a Persona story into a Fighting game. Actually, the beginning of the Story mode seemed decent enough. If the story had basically been: "We're going into the TV and fighting each other in a tournament because... Fuck it, Teddy told us to." that would have been fine. Sure it's kind of pointless and pretty simple, but that's what you expect from a fighting game, Persona or otherwise.
But here they added in Labrys and Teddy's behavior and this and that and probably some other stuff that I didn't get to because I stopped playing after fighting Chie in Narukami's storyline. There's too much going on, it distracts me from the fighting (also I didn't find the battles easy, but that may be because I didn't get the controls or combos down yet - Stupid color coded position buttons, just tell me /\, [], X or O!)

Though...they did Cat. Besides that wasn't your problem you said before, you just said you hated the waiting in your fighting game. The game catered to everyone's need, the Persona story makes perfect sense within Persona's universe and there was always the instant-action segments in there for fighting game plans. Really it's a shame you stopped then because everything is really cleared up a fair bit after you do Labrys story. The fighting game plot makes total sense then, and if you say again "BUT ITS A FIGHTING GAME" then that option is there for you as well.

Bear in mind the source game, Persona 4 had you push X for 2 hours or more before you could actually do...anything at the start. The long story segments are par the course for Persona.

You also complain about the controls....but [] can be mashed to just chain together combos for you. Still ok perhaps you just don't have much talent for fighting games they ain't for everyone.

I remember that problem with P4 and that's one of the reasons why I always DREAD making a new file, because I just get to hear "Bla bla bla, PLOT PLOT PLOT PLOT PLOT!!" before I actually GET to real plot that lets me DO something. I know people who complain about Zelda or other games where it takes 30 minutes to "get to the game" well I wonder how they'd react to P4 then.

And I never got to Labrys' story. I haven't even finished Narukami's, which is the first one I did.

I am decent at fighting games, just not the type that the Persona Arena one is made of. I grew up with Street Fighter, I've played Dead or Alive. Those games give me combos, they tell me Press Punch or Kick (whatever you button you assigned them to) and not like Arena which gives me a color coded thing, that still doesn't fully correspond to the location of the buttons.

PS: I dislike Button Mashing for Auto Combos. Even if I now know about the [] thing, I doubt I'll use it.

I dislike it too, it feels too easy, and it messes up my combos by trying to automatically meld into it's programmed ones though perhaps the control scheme just takes getting used to, what with the heavy and strong Persona and Regular attacks.

Though Labrys' story is basically the big reveal for why everything is happening and it unlocks the 'true' ending for the other characters storylines (since they all end on a cliffhanger). Then after all that I hear you unlock Elizabeth's story which has more overarching plot on the go, but I've still to see that.

Ugh that sounds like I need to 100% the game to unlock the True Ending, which - once I have gotten that - unlocks the Super Ultra Real True Ending. That's just a pain to do, even for completionists like me.
Actually... that sounds a ton like Persona 4 Golden! To get the Golden Epilogue, you need to get the True Ending, along with the new Aeon Social Link to max prior to Magatsu Inaba, do the extra dungeon and then you can get the reward towards the end.

To get Elizabeth ending you need to finish, I think, Labrys ending and another one. But Maybe I'm wrong, though I know I finished Elizabeth story before the rest of the gang. So no, you don't have to finish it 100%.

You need to do Labrys which unlocks the true endings for the other characters, and than get Yu's true ending.
