Very easily :P I'm of a mindset you don't need to resort to swearing to express yourself.

Most folks here don't after all. Very little swearing s'far as I can see, well Cat launches a few strongly-worded rants I guess.

Nothing wrong with swearing! As long as you fucking don't fucking swear a million fucking times a fucking sentence then it fucking doesn't fucking matter. Now that's annoying.

I have today off work because my new laptop is getting delivered and the wind sounds terrifying, I'm genuinely scared that a tree is going to come through the window. Watching IT Crowd to try and take my mind off it *is a baby*

I know right? I went to sleep and it was raging outside when I walked the dog, wake up and it's still raging. The shed at the side of the house has been smashed to pieces when it toppled over and the plastic bin that sits outside is nowhere to be seen, I'm worried it's in a neighbours garden.

Last time it got this bad our trampoline actually ended up on a neighbour's roof.

omg I was just reading about how bad it is in Scotland and someone has died!

Here isn't as bad as that. Our back gate is broken and the two dustbins are at the other end of the garden. It just sounds horrendous.

EDIT: oh our shed roof blew off

Oh wow. I looked up what's been going on, and that's some frightening wind speed. Is your area at risk for flooding?

There was a disastrous storm where I've been living not too long ago, so I sympathize with the worry.

Stay safe, both of you!

Gah it's a real shame about that Lorry Driver.

However as a pedestrian I get a real rush out of this kinda wind speed. Makes you feel like you're battling the elements when you step outside. Also reminds me of fun times in Primary School where you would open your coat out like wings in strong wind and it'd feel like you were floating or gliding.

I'm in England, and I was just out walking. The wind is so strong I felt like I was going to be blown off the pavement. It was pretty great, though. I love it when the weather's all wet and windy. All the bins were blown over in the street.

I would make a joke about you being blown, but I'm not that immature.

Anyways, Neopets banning you for the most ridiculous reasons reminds me of my elementary school. I'd get in trouble for saying certain words, and I'm not just talking swear words, they wouldn't let me say "crap", "penis", "vagina" (we had to refer to them as our "private areas") or even "shut up".

It's scary but the wind and rain round here died down quite a few hours ago. The other side of town however

Eek! That's not far from work so might be swimming there tomorrow hahaha. I don't even own a pair of wellies. According to the ITV website it's "likely to be the most serious coastal tidal surge in over 30 years" frick.

The storms we get in the UK are always big for us, but they're nothing compared to the storms you hear about that happen in the US. No "hundreds dead and hundreds more homeless" stuff.

I went to the orthopedic doctor today, check my knees. Then wanted to meet my mother at a place and had to wait for the bus for 19 Minutes although it's scheduled times were every 10 minutes and I arrived 3 minutes before it should have arrived. And I was wearing a thick coat, but I'm susceptible to cold and was practically freezing by the time that fucker finally arrived.

I dislike winter... although taking a footbath about an hour ago was a nice little thing to warm up.

I tried my first legal drink when I visited Vancouver this past summer.
Had a bottle of Cocanee (I think that's how you spell it), and I thought it was horrible. I turned bright red, and I felt terrible.

Damn weather getting on the way of my plans. I wanted to go turn in something today, but I couldn't go out. We probably won't get snow, but sleet is a bitch. At least you can play in snow. I also have to work tonight, but it's my own fault I didn't get any sleep today. Oh well, awesome music makes everything better.

Yeah colleague of mine ended up missing her lecture entirely because the traffic was slowed so much by the weather conditions.
Also sweeping powercuts across the country as well...it's an unnerving experience driving up a bypass in pitch darkness because the roadlights are out.

Honestly, we probably have it a lot better than you, we Texans just collectively become wusses in the face of winter. For everyone, it's "Lol how do I cold?"

Hah! I live in Canada. People in Texas have it easy in the winter! Here, temperature can get down to as low as -20C, which according to an online converter, is about -4F! And that's not even counting windchill!

I would die. I would just die. And I want to spend some time in the UK someday, so I should probably get over my cold phobia.
Edit- As for the dissonance of this comment from my sig, it actually wasn't cold as it was sleeting. Weird.

Winter depresses me. I especially hate it when the sky is cloudy and grey - these days I don't even want to get out of bed (yeah I don't know exactly why, but the weather affects my mood that much)
And today temperature reached 33ºC over here... I spent the whole day with a fan in front of my face :trucy:

Sounds like pretty standard seasonal affective disorder to me.

I don't mind Winter during Christmas, it's when bright lights are up and each house radiates a kind of warmth from the mirth inside.
It's in the non-Christmas months that I find Winter a bit dull...unless there's tonnes of Snow or interesting weather it can just seem bleak.

@Louise - Ah, I'm glad you're fine, but I'm sorry to see the damage done. The storm here was one the town hasn't yet recovered from, and that was a few months ago - so I'm thankful it's not of that magnitude, at least.

@dangerousoffender - I have a form of winter-onset SAD, too, so I feel you.

It's caused by less sun/shorter days, mostly, so I have an artificial sunlamp to combat it. Maybe you could get one?

@Pierre - I love Christmas lights, but... I wish I could still be excited about lots of snow! It's not worth it; you can have lights without freezing to death!

Then, I'm used to somewhere sunny, and I'm living in prairie Canada, land of -40 degrees Celsius and enough snow to shut down the West Coast for weeks... on and off from October until April. :sadshoe:

I think we hit maybe 17-22 degrees Celsius in a heatwave.

On the contrary I think I could freeze to death happily if I had Christmas lights around me XD.

Nah Snow isn't a guarantee here (though thanks to Global Cooling it's becoming more frequent) and it still holds the same magic for me as it did when I was a kid. I remember huge snow bunkers we could hide in, in the field while snowballs pelted the walls.

Course I was smaller then so those snow bunkers probably weren't that big but there's other awesome memories of snow.

I hope you have fun, spending your Great Birthday Day in a hospital's ER, with an IV stuck in your arm and a major hangover-headache. Happy freaking Birthday, why doe people think drinking so great, anyway?

By the way, guys. I got paid. I. Got. Paid. After three months, I finally got paid the money for working for that lawyer.

Also, my mom is going on a trip this weekend and she forgot the cameras, so I had to bring them to her work. I was never there before and I found it okay, just not the door to their office. Looked around, then she went looking for me and I was off by somewhat...
She asked, "How you can get lost in a staircase..."
Although I am not surprised I got lost in a staircase. I could get lost anywhere.

Nah, we hit higher than that, I remember stretches of it being minimum of 22 in a heatwave, perhaps even all the way up to 30, at least in Edinburgh. 25's more the average for a middle-of-summer blistering-hot heatwave day. It's never as cold as people complain it is during summer, really. Apart from either last year or the year before, when it was just constantly grey and raining.
