The problem is internet explorer sucks. People usually use it in the beginning when they wanna download another browser.

Mods please open the fucking vent thread again so I can quit spamming my vent in this thread

Oh look, after only about 3 hours of having been out of work, my mom decides to call me. Now, before she left work, she told me she was going to buy a beer stein for a supervisor and that she didn't know when she'd be back, but it wouldn't be too late.

It's 9:40 PM right now and I get a call. She somehow got stuck at a meet up thing and has no idea when she'll be back. Now, when I told her how it's nice to know that and not that it took her 3 hours to choose one fucking beer stein, she explained that choosing it and getting it engraved and all was what took a good two hours.

Well now... why the hell is she at a meet up? Why is she stuck there? If she doesn't want to be stuck there, just fucking leave. I have been waiting and now that I know she will not be home soon bringing food back, I will just make some food myself and ruin my voice some more doing live commentary on Let's Plays of sidequests that I have had to redo a few times already!

If anyone asks "Why didn't you just cook yourself some dinner earlier?" that's because I didn't want to make something to eat and then have her come home shortly afterwards with food, that would then be wasted.

C-A

PS: I decided to make myself some soup. Put a little water into the pot and turned the stove on and water into the kettle t heat it up. I come back and the water has evaporated and half the pot is really, really warm. Oh my, that almost could've turned into another fire! Best thing, I used a different pot to cook the soup in and a different stove, both cooling down now, when I realized during cooking that I had to pee. Really badly. While I did turn the stove off and strangely-walked my way to the bathroom, I still managed to piss my pants. Wow... this day just blows. The only good thing is that I got the salve for my cat's conjunctivitis.

PPS: And people on the internet are pissing me off so much. You know what, I'll just give this face to anyone who gets my sarcastic-anger into their mouth now~

Mods please open the vent station for Cat, that Vent above just seemed real childish to me and I could have gone without seeing it.

:ron: There's nothing wrong with taking the time to get a proper present for someone, and engraving does take time. Also your mother doesn't owe her entire schedule to you, she is entitled to her freedom as well. If you knew she was going to be late THAT was your cue to start making food, forget hoping she'll bring something back real late for you, odds are she's expecting you to be capable enough to make some basic food at a regular dinner time than count on her to bring something back.

So tomorrow I have a night-shift at my new job (that's kinda screwed me around but hey I'll take what work I can get) and it'll be my first night shift in my life. So I'm baffled as how to cope with it :ron: , I asked my Dad from his night shift work experience how he dealt with it at first. He just laughed and said "You'll be knackered for the following 2 days" XD.

But hey I'm positive and willing to try something new. I'm gonna live like an American and stay up to light hours of the morning so I sleep later in the day. Hopefully this'll give me more energy for starting at the late time tomorrow since I won't have been up for as long tomorrow. Since I know if I wake up at the usual time it's unlikely I'll go back to sleep for any length of time :kristoph:

Any tips on night-shift coping is welcome XD

On a side-note, that new sleep schedule should make it easier for us to get battle sessions together in the RP.

Oh, and the Vent Station has been reopened. I do hope we will avoid recreating the situation that got it locked in the first place.

Hahahaha don't get your hopes up General, like I said work is a little screwy just now so I doubt I'll be doing night-shifts regularly and even if I did they'd be occurring right at the time you'd want me to battle at.

Pierre, thing is, while she said she'd be late, she didn't say she'd be very late - she gets off work at 6 and not very late generally involves getting home around 7 or 8. And that usually includes grabbing McD on the way home. I was just annoyed that she didn't call me earlier.

Oh man, I'm still so tired. And people on the iRO forums are bashing at me. Jeez...

On another note, I was wondering if people here have trouble with sleeping like I do.

Although I have always found it hard to fall asleep, over the last year or so I can't seem to manage to fall asleep before 02.00, unless I worked my ass of that day or have been through something extremely tiring.
Needless to say I also wake up feeling terribly tired unless I can sleep to 12:00 and don't need my alarm clock. I've grown accustomed to the sleep deprivation, but being comfortable is another thing.

I wonder if any of you have similar experiences or tips that help you fall asleep, it would be appreciated.

I mostly notice I have one night a month where I have huge problems falling asleep - and it's always the night of the new moon. I don't know what it is, I just don't feel very tired on that day. And even if I feel tired, I can't fall asleep very well.

I have the exact same problem. I can't sleep before 3 AM or so... And even if I do, I wake up after two hours (yeah my biological clock is screwed up)
My doc said that the only way to adjust this is forcing yourself to sleep (or at least to go to bed) at the same time every day... For example, you can start by forcing yourself to go to bed at midnight and only midnight until your body get used with it.

I wish I had more discipline...

Eh can't help ya on the sleep front, tucking myself in at night has helped me feel more comfortable. Or if it's too constricting you can try tucking yourself in on one side and spreading your body across the other side. It feels sort of like you are leaning on something for me and it's very comfortable.

Apparently also a good bit of exercise before bed will exhaust the body before sleep so you'll just conk out. Though don't do anything that requires particular thought or planning before sleep, I find that just leaves my head abuzz with plans and ideas for whatever it was I was doing (Damn you Civ 5) and then I barely sleep at all.

I've tricked my mind into going to sleep whenever I want to.

The secret is to convince your mind that you NEED to stay up.
Tell yourself that you're going to write something in your head and will actually write it down IF you finish it.

My mind is like a jackass and goes; "HURR BETTER MAKE HIM SLEEPY"

The harder you try to go to sleep, the longer it will take.

I'm terrible at disciplining myself to go to sleep earlier. I always think, 'I'll just stay up five more minutes.' Never works that way, though. -_-

This is exactly how I am most nights. I'm working on writing a novel and the majority of my ideas come to me right when I'm trying to sleep. Sometimes I write notes before bed, but the ideas stay with me till the early hours.

My mind seems to be jackass, too. Whenever I want to stay up late for something, that's when I end up feeling too tired. Generally on New Year's Eve.

Also, my best ideas always seem to be the ones I forget. I guess that's my bad for not writing them down soon as I think of them. :dahlia:

Hah, isn't that always the way? I know what you mean.

If it's any comfort, the ideas you forget may be better because they're mostly forgotten. If you'd written them down, they might not seem so brilliant anymore. Besides, I'm sure you have plenty of good ideas that do see the light of day!

What sort of novel are you writing, if you don't mind my asking?

A novel? That's nice. I don't think I have the patience to write a novel... I only write poems and short stories sometimes, but I never thought they are good enough to show to someone.

So I went out to the Riem Arcaden mall, like practically the other side of the city, I think, to go to Desigual. A clothes shop cause the shop in the mall close to my home said that a dress I wanted to buy there for months was sent there.
I went there and saw they currently do not have any discount going on - compared to the other mall's one, where they currently have up to 50% off - which is bad. They had the dress, even in my size, but without a discount it costs 124€.

Triple digits. The only thing I remember buying that cost triple digits, as far as clothes go, is my black winter coat and that is actually a men's coat. I'm not gonna pay triple digits for a fucking long summer dress! What really annoyed me was their little slogan thing around the shop.

"Do you dare... to hang these clothes into your wardrobe?"

You know, I do dare if I could pay for one of these things! My god, even a sweater costs, like, almost 80€ there! I love their designs, I love the clothes because that's the type of stuff I design - you know, dresses with neat patterns on them that have an empire waistline and such - but it's so freaking expensive.

I never thought of it that way. :udgey: But usually it's speech in my book that I end up forgetting, so some of it's to do with the great length of it all.

It's really quite hard to define my novel by genre. I'd probably end up calling it a thriller/sci-fi/slice of life/mystery/romance/comedy/bildungsroman. :meekins:

But generally, the plot is about several very different people living in a quarantined city. (Nothing to do with zombies, though :hobolaugh: )

I'd tried writing novels before a couple of times, and either I didn't plan at all and got stuck, or I planned for ages and got bored. This time however, I've really stuck with it. I think it's about finding an idea you really love and characters you really care about and just writing it for yourself.

I write short stories and poems sometimes, too. It doesn't really matter if they're not perfect. You can just keep improving with each one. I like to write all kinds of things, sometimes with set themes and characters, others really vague and focusing on feelings and thoughts rather than events. Some of them haven't been very good, but I never discard them, because they can always be improved or developed later.

You know, I THINK I'm at the last chapters of Life and I have this feeling like I've seen it before... maybe it was a preview thing in another manga I read. And that must've been months, if not years ago.

And goddamit, Ayumu, why do you care why she bullies?

And how dare the students feel bad for the bully? As I vented in the Grinding Gears thread, why make us suddenly feel sorry for the bad guy, if the bad guy has been a total bitch the entire time? "Whaaa, it's our fault that we left the bully alone and she tried to commit suicide! OmG, I feel so sorry for her, whaaa" I know this sounds tough, but if she was trying to commit suicide, she already had something wrong with her head!

I have to say that I also dislike it when they do that. Who cares why she bullied? The point is, she bullied! It's not going to be any less wrong if she has a tragic past--she was still a bully. Which means, she needs to face the consequences no matter what her reasons are.

Well, what happened from what I read up to now - and this is up to the 19th out of 20 Volumes - is the following... well, aside from various chapters where the class reacts and realizes "Wow, Anzai is such a bitch! She did all this." and I am serious, they get these muttering-crowd conversation and two chapters later it happens again.

Spoiler: Life spoilers
When Anzai tries to beat Ayumu up for the xth time, the entire class and practically the whole school chased her down, forcing her to kneel on the floor and apologize for all the shit she pulled. After being cornered, Anzai fully cracks and yells at the whole school that they 'do not know anything about her life' and somebody takes a picture of her freak out, resulting in everybody taking pictures and laughing at her.
Due to an accidental fire alarm, Anzai escapes and runs to her boyfriend's house.

Ayumu who 'did not want things to end this way' with Anzai, she didn't actually want revenge or get Anzai humiliated, figures out where Anzai may have run off to. She goes to Katsumi's house and Anzai lets her. Anzai cracks some more and tries to strangle Ayumu and almost stab her with a kitchen knife.

Then she finds the album Katsumi created - an album of his previous girlfriends who gladly induldged in his bondage fetish, with the words "(Number) Slave - Date" under it. The latest pictures are Ayumu's, the ones that Katsumi forced her to make way early in the manga.

Katsumi comes home and Anzai cracks, again, and attacks Katsumi with the kitchen knife. First he mocks her, saying he'll go outside and tell the police, ruining her entire future, but slips on his own blood and realizes he's still rather trapped. Quickly switching sides, saying he loves Anzai, Anzai attacks... and stabs herself in the stomach.

All three are in the hospital, with Katsumi standing up to his abusive father and Anzai recuperating.

And as I pointed out, one of the bitches Anzai was hanging out with is all sad cause she blames herself, of course, and everybody else for Anzai's suicide attempt because... fuck, I don't understand the reason. Anzai cracks so many times in the manga, I feel like she is suffering from shizophrenia, but we all know her bullying did not start from that.
Heck, she hidden-bullied Ayumu before this whole fiasco started!

And yes, I don't care why someone bullies. They either give me a sappy story that's supposed to make me feel sorry for them, when I am the one who has mental and physical scars from it or just piss me off even more, telling me how much fun it is to bully me. And in such a case, I would be the one to grab a knife~

Brotherhood or just FMA?
Cause I heard FMA deviates from the manga a little too much, but I've seen Brotherhood and thought it was pretty fucking awesome.

Way I heard it was, that the manga wasn't fast enough to keep up with the actual show as things usually turn out. So rather than cranking out filler while they waited, the show-writers just went off on their own plot. So it's probably better looked at as 2 separate stories rather than one true story and one inferior story. Nothing wrong with non-brotherhood FMA.

If your not watching the brotherhood one definitely watch it. I find it much better than the normal one plus better animation.

I'd say watch the 2003 anime to the end, then watch Brotherhood. Yes, Brotherhood was more epic, but I felt the first anime gave us more time to know the characters better.
Spoiler: For both animes
Plus, I actually felt sad when that one character died in the first anime as compared to his death in Brotherhood.

100% with this, especially the spoiler. 2003 is better as a standalone, in my opinion; Brotherhood has the better story, but it won't impact you as much if you don't know the characters well. The manga is probably the best for both, but... every version of FMA is fantastic, in my book.

Glad you're liking it though, builderkid!

@Mirii - Oh, that sounds neat! I think most of the best stories have aspects of a ton of genres anyway, even when they get classified as one particular one. Do you hope to get it published, or is this just practice/a personal project for you?

Best of luck, in any case!

Ugh... It's summer and a 41ºC day today. I wanted to go out, but it's just too hot. I would've liked to have gone to the pool (Where's a Sol Starbuck smiley when you need one!?)

I'm listening to Christmas music, and it made your line of pleading Bikinis look like enthusiastic carolers instead. Probably wouldn't be half so funny if I weren't half so tired, but it's amusing me right now.

...

I second the motion, though. 41ºC is manageable for me; as soon as it gets below about 5º I'm not going outside unless I have to. Winter should be illegal.

We have the air con on now, so it's nice and cool inside, although the crickets are really loud outside! :maggey:

Apparently, Justin Bieber is "retiring" which I guess means he's gonna stop being a singer and what not.
Here's my reaction.

Got a source for that? I'd quite like to see it.

It's a shame he couldn't turn his music into something y'know...good, he was still young enough to evolve musically.

Wouldn't get too excited Cat, seems sources across the board be indicating it's a joke. I guess he's just desperate for some big attention?
