Just to make it "Odoroki's story". Some people *coughHolyHellcough* don't want Odo to go to Minuki's hometown (So Odoroki gets character development, but Minuki doesn't? Eh?) because it will make it too much like GS1-3, people don't want any other characters from GS1-3 to appear (Because a few cameos will automatically make it Phoenix's story and not Odoroki's), and basically want Gyakuten Saiban 4 to avoid GS1-3 like it was the plague.

Anyone else find this sad?

There is a difference between cameos and starring roles...

Good idea to bring back Ema, and to use Phoenix in the first case, for some sense of transition between the two arcs. And since this is the same game world, it's only logical that older characters will make guest appearances.

But generally, I hope they keep the two game arcs separate. After GS 1-3, we have a good handle on the main characters; there's little left to surprise. New blood is good, so is mystery.

Consider it this way: how long would the series last if the same cast was brought back again and again?

Only thing I'm finding sad is that you had to single out an individual while discussing the beliefs of many.

Honestly, there isn't anything wrong with not wanting more of the same in a new story. It's a fresh start, and it's only expected that fresh plot developments and characters be used at first before fitting the old and new together.

I find it sad that some people find it sad. Is that sad?

I like the GS games for their originality and innovativness. (Is that a word? well it is now.) If they ever started following a formula it would probably wouldn't be as much fun.

Resident Evil 4 did change the formula alot but still kept quite a few of the old characters.

GS4 is probably going in that direction. I'm sure there will be more cameos by older characters. With some new innovative gameplay.

Capcom seems to be doing this with most of their "4th" games.

Mega Man 4 > Rest of series

It's that simple.

Although it is rather hard to generallise:

- Breath of Fire 4:
Not too many changes to the formula, those were handled in BoF3. Good game, albeit a bit weaker than BoF3.

- Mega Man 4:
<3

- Ace Attorney 4:
An apperent large change in formula. Hope it is for the best.

- Mega Man X4:
Not so much change in formula, but I feel X4 is the best of the 4 first games. So that is clearly a notch up.

- Mega Man: Battle Network 4:
Capcom screwed up on this one, along with MM:BN3. The 'holding a contest' storyline wasn't really a good idea, and the dark chips even worse....

- Mega Man Zero 4
Extreme game that works perfectly. Absolutely wonderful, and a slight change to the formula, yeah.

I think it's sad that you assume the only way for Minuki to have character development is to visit her hometown.

What if Minuki grew up normallyin L.A like any other character? She doesn't have to be a mystic living in the mountains to be a magician. We don't even know what KIND of magician she is (is she a stage magician? Is her magic even "real"?). We don't know anything about her let alone her "home town" and how visiting it might affect her character.

And I agree that they shouldn't take too many things from the original trilogy. It might be cute to have a mention of "Grandson of Steel Samurai" or something (since it didn't appear at all in GS3) but we don't need all the characters to come back. That DOES defeat the point of it being a new game with a new protagonist.

Oh, and next time, don't be singling out other board members because you don't agree with them. There's no need to be a dick to make a point.

Oh yeah, one more thing.

If you DON'T change the formula even the slightest, then people will become bored some day, because then you would simply be re-releasing the same game. So there needs to be a diffrence, and the request for low change in formula is usually mostly done out of nostalgia and likeness for the original style.

I do find some marit in re-releasing all the old games with modern grafics, but they won't really be diffrent games (unless you go in and change the formula in other areas - like happened in that Mega Man 1 remake).

While this is undoubtebly true, it didn't change all too much, aside from "Oh mai gaa Wily's not the bad guy oh wait."

Sorry 'bout the off topic-y.

Eh,

Odoroki =/= Phoenix
Minuki =/= Maya
Garyuu =/= Mia
Kyouya =/= Edgeworth

There will be a whole new story, and there isn't a "winning formula" because the first formula was just one single story Gant

I think Minuki is a stage magician as she says in the trailer "Being on stage is about holding your audience". A less FABULOUS version of Max Galactica.

This is Capcom we're talking about. Do you really expect for them to change the formula that much?

Objection

Look what they did with Resident Evil 4. They could break the tradition with any game.

Magicians call anywhere they're performing their "stage", whether they're on a real stage, a street corner, or even some kid's backyard birthday party, it's all a stage to them. Still, just because she mentions a stage doesn't necessarily mean she's a stage magician.

I did say "THINK" Orca, after all. It's just an opinion. Then again, the similiarity in her name to the new system of pointing out a weakness (the Minuku System, i think... to Minuki) suggests her involvement with this.

I know, I was just pointing that out is all. Sorry if I came off as mean-spirited or something.

Whether it does or not, the system seems to be in the bracelet itself, which would mean she doesn't give him anything to make it work (as Phoenix was given the Megatama, then taught how it works). Her "involvement" would then be minimal, if that makes any sense.

Yes it does make sense. She'd only really be the distributor in that case. Could be some artifact she found or somethin or a heirloom. You don't know with these people. Nick

Still, it would have you to believe she's not a psychic or a wizard or something, wouldn't it? As you said, anywhere is a stage; but that still means she's a performing artist. It's like if Max Galactica flew to work (Okay, it's not, but I just wanted an excuse to say that).

I THINK I LOVE YOU. *Ahem*. Seriously, thank you for saying that. I don't see how someone can find patterns when there's only been one example thus far. It's like asking you to state the next number in this pattern: 2, ___.

I never said that wasn't the case, just that she isn't necessarily a stage magician rather than just a street performer or something. Whether or not her magic is real is an entirely different story, though in a world where sprit mediums have actual powers and channeling itself is real, I wouldn't be surprised if her magic was actually magic. It probably isn't, though.

.....probably...maybe we can always...look as Phoenix's appearance in GS4 as being a supportive character... Hobohodo ...being a supportive character...is not being a main character....so I believe cameo roles in this...game....can also be supportive roles....I mean they...always add new...characters to the mix...just think of this...as an all new game...with old things....
