Anyways, I have a completely neutral opinion of the Final Fantasy XIII series, as I've never played it. However, from what I've seen, it seems like Cat is one of the only people on the internet who actually likes those games. Everyone else I've seen talking about them had nothing but bad things to say about them. The only Final Fantasy games I've played are 1, 4, 6, and 7. If the later games in the series are like those, I don't think I'd be very into them. I prefer more action oriented games, rather than just choosing moves from a list and waiting to see what happens. This is why the Mario RPGs are some of the only RPGs I actually enjoy, since they have a more engaging type of gameplay for me, with the action commands for the different moves. The only RPG I've ever beaten that doesn't have any sort of action aspect to it is Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness, which I beat using only my Espeon and Teddiursa.

That's one outfit. One outfit out of 71 in-game gotten garbs. Out of 73, with the XIII and XIII-2 savefile garbs. Almost 80, with the DLC and pre-order garbs like Yuna, Cloud and Aerith. And aside from that pose, I looked and none of them were anything like that one. And even then, that outfit is shit! It's so useless, neither of the locked abilities do much, since you can just as easily get a full on resilience to physical attacks, which makes Miqo'te's Mediguard pointless. I make more physical damage with Artemis' Arrow and more magical damage with spells than Miqo'te's Magic Slash.
And I'll say it again. Nobody ever forces the player to use those outfits.

If you went onto the XIII Gamefaqs board, you'd find LewdDolphin and a few others who also enjoy the game a ton.

And if you like action oriented battle more than picking stuff, you'd love Lightning Returns' battle system.
I mean... just look at what this guy can do in LR.
I don't know his parameters or equipment, I can't recognize the equipment that fast, but that's pretty cool.

It is a poster being used as promotional art for the game though no? Hence the big logo at the bottom.

It still ties back into the sex-appeal to support an uninteresting character...

Bah well we've done this argument round in circles anyway.

Off to see Peabody and Sherman tomorrow, can't say I've ever SEEN the original cartoon (I think it was either before my time or an American one) but my friend wants to see it and I've no real objections. He's got an empty this weekend so we're going round for some good ol' gaming weekend should be great.

I actually have two questions

1: Is there a thread for the villain music in AA?
and 2: Where would it be most appropriate to put it?

I remember when the trailer first came out it brought back some wonderful memories of the good ol cartoons back in the day. You should post a review of the movie once you watch it.

Sure I'll drop by the thread once I've seen it though I'm not sure how well I can judge it, I don't know much of what it originally was except for that one cameo in the Treehouse of Horrors Simpsons episode I've never seen them before XD.

I'd love to see her as a judge in the next Ace Attorney game, if only because it would probably be both amusing and adorable to see her presiding over one of Apollo's cases.

I was thinking more so along the lines of the two of them being teased by the prosecution. You just know Klavier would capitalize on that kind of thing. I wouldn't put it past Simon, either.

Whats so appealing about the games to you?

Juniper as a judge would be cute but I fear the case would have to be pretty severe to involve her as the judge...something horrible like her getting murdered halfway through because the mob didn't like how she handled the case or something. Then regular old Udgey is too afraid to judge fairly :sadshoe:

LR is either on a 360 or on PS3. I'm pretty sure that a 360 is on the cheap side these days - I bought my Arcade one about 5 years ago, used, and it cost me 90€ in total. Another... what was it... I think 30€ for the external harddrive I got for DLC and to install games onto the system itself. And it is better to install the game onto the console cause otherwise the stupid console makes too much noise. (Also, Japanese Audio DLC is still free for a while~)
A PS3 might cost a little more than that these days, but the upside is, it's big enough to not require an external for installing games onto it. Also, I think the PS3 version is a little better, since I noticed more lag on the 360 version...

Actually, I'm pretty sure that Herr is a male only thing. Fraueline judge would be more accurate. Of course, I'm not an expert in German, I think I need Cat to verify that.

Yes, Fräulein is used for women... although quite honestly, it isn't used very often these days. Mostly by older men and women. And even then, I think Fräulein is mostly used in a way to talk to someone while scolding them. Like, "You are in big trouble, missy!"

So anyway, VGR brings the latest AA Recap out and it's finishing off 1-5. I encountered this screenshot and I'm not sure... was this typo in the DS version as well?

Nope.

And since you were talking about it earlier, what was so interesting about FFXIII? I've seen it all, and the plot and everyone's character development was almost entirely predictable. Until the big ball of WTF at the end.

I liked the characters - except Snow, his loud optimism when he's so obviously in the wrong got pretty annoying, I cheer every time Light punches him - since they were relateable and realistic. Hope acts the way you'd think a 14 year old would react in the situation he's in. Sazh is simply a single father worried about his son and Vanilla tries to hide her suicidal tendency with overly cheerful behavior, although she did bug me a bit that she continued to run away from her responsibilities... until pretty much the end of the game. I also love the battle system. The story I liked, it was a typical Defy Your Fate story, but I liked the twist at the end...

Spoiler:
I still think they did exactly what their focus told them to do, which means become Ragnarok and create the crystal pillar.

That WTF part at the end, Eh, even if they try to explain it in-universe in XIII-2, I just saw it as a part to make the ending happy, but retain the bittersweet part in its ending. XIII-2, overall, I didn't like... the battle system was pointless since the game was too easy, you didn't need to use the Sab or Syn role or even the Med role at all. The characters, new and old, made boring. Forgettable villain. Monster system was pointless and boring after fifteen minutes.

LR I like cause we have Light back, it doesn't bore me fast since I can chose my role and abilities when I feel like trying new things out. The story was so-so: but coming from XIII-2, what kind of story could they make. LR is better than XIII-2 for me, but not as good as XIII.

PS: Chalk up one more mistake in the HD versions, haha.

"Frau" is correct. "Fräulein" is very outdated and, as catmuto said, I can't think of anyone using it in a non-condescending way.
It is still in use in Austria, though.

Anyways, I'm getting ready to go out to the store and get Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. I'll leave in a couple hours. I loved the first Donkey Kong Country Returns game, so hopefully I'll like this one. I hope that eventually Retro Studios will make Metroid Prime 4, but unlike most people, I'm not going to harass them.

Oh, one thing just occured to me, though: When adressing someone, as in "excuse me, ma'am/miss", in German you don't just say "Entschuldigen Sie, Frau". For some reason, it doesn't sound right. You usually say "junge Frau" (literally "young woman") or "gute Frau" (literally "good woman"), and for men you would say "mein Herr", "junger Mann", "guter Mann", etc.

To answer all the questions about why I want to play the FFXIII:

Well, it looks like fun, the story may not make a whole lot of sense in parts, but it overall looks fun.

Fun? Isn't that the point of games to begin with?

Besides, Lightning is kinda hot...

Where does it not make sense? I think it does in everything - except the one thing in the Ending, which as I said, I feel was done to give us a happy-but-still-bittersweet taste to the game's ending.
