I think I used Mara ONCE in P3P... I think against the Reaper. And then not again. Wasn't all that great.

It learns a unique very powerful Fire Move but yeah you'll want to pass that on if you can.

Plus it makes Elizabeth giggle in the Velvet Room :kristoph:

She makes a comment about "How manly" it is if you walk in with it equipped.

And yeah Maralagion is a unique spell to Mara. High Fire damage to all.

So...I just finished JaydenCats' LP of Persona 3, 3 Portable and 4. Yay me, I've officially crushed any reason I actually have to play these games.

Damn.

I don't know about that, builderkid. I actually got Persona 4 Golden after watching a good-sized chunk of SuperJeenius's LP of it (his LP is ongoing, but by the time I got the game in question, Jeenius was already fighting his way through Heaven).

Not bad, actually. It's just everything is spoiled for me. In fact, I fucking love these games.

Also, nice avatar. Isn't it from the Dangan Ronpa anime?

Yeah, someday, SOMEDAY when I get a Vita, I'll play through Golden, which apparently adds a metric shit-ton more stuff.

Usually, I only watch an LP of a game if the game in question is one I don't expect to ever play myself--Conker's Bad Fur Day, for example--or one I have already beaten--such as The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Every now and then, though, an LP is what gets me interested in a game. That's how I wound up giving Plants vs. Zombies and Persona 4 Golden a try.

For moments like that I see nothing wrong with watching LP videos or like what I usually do is I pretty much only watch LP's when im stuck in one moment in the game that I need help.

When I first got into the Ace Attorney series when I was 14 or so, due to not being able to go to local game stores and get the other games in the series (I started with JFA), I actually watched the final cases in PW and (I THINK, though I'm not certain) T&T through LP. I enjoyed it at the time, but regretted it when I bought it eventually and played through those cases myself :sadshoe: The cases were still brilliant to play through, but the twists weren't as impactful since I already knew what was coming :sadshoe: In the case of Persona 4, I also got spoiled by LP and the anime, because at the time I thought I wasn't even GOING to be able to play it on a PS2 or the Vita as I had neither at the time, so when I finally DID get a Vita and the game later I regretted knowing certain twists were coming. :sadshoe: After those two unfortunate incidents, I have sworn off LP videos and anime adaptations of games (at least until I've played them first) entirely to save myself from the spoilers :phoenix:

I can quite honestly say, Persona 4's plot twists... were... not... very difficult to figure out. *Coughcontrollervibrationcough* Although they were still easy to figure out, with the controller vibration being turned off, as it was for me unless I am trying to catch that stupid Guardian.

Yeah but you are particularly good at figuring out plot twists it seems.

I didn't clock the plot twists in Persona 4 except for one really obvious one where the game sets up the 'true' culprit when you don't even have a full party yet.

See? It's not quite as clear as Cat makes out.

Spoiler: Persona 4
The controller vibrates slightly when you shake the Garage attendant's hand to hint that Izanami is passing power over to you or that there's more to the handshake than meets the eye.

I didn't especially notice it either the first time I played through the game.

See things like that I wouldn't have noticed the first time around, nor the twist regarding the true killer, though most everything else is, when you take a moment to think about them, is pretty predictable. :ron: No less enjoyable to 'officially' discover within the game though, but predictable nonetheless :phoenix:

Well, I guess that part isn't as easy to figure out in Golden considering the Vita has no built-in controller vibrations. But yeah, that was the big give away from the beginning. Even when the story kept on progressing, my mind kept wondering when that vibration was going to come back into play.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

Spoiler: Persona 4 Golden
No such hint in Golden unless you maximize Marie's Social Link. I only figured it out in my first playthrough because I happened to maximize the right Social Links by the end of the game. As a result, the question of "How did I get this power in the first place?" came up when I was chatting with one of them (I forget which one, though). From there, it was pretty easy to pick up on the hints the game dropped.

For the record, I failed to maximize Marie's Social Link on my first playthrough.

When I first played the game, I had Controller Vibration set to Off, because I hate a vibrating controller. It disgusts me and makes me want to throw that thing through a window if it does that. But even so, it was... you know, kinda obvious that it meant something.

Spoiler:
Come on. You shake hands. And immediately afterwards, you start feeling ill. Even without controller vibrations, it's like a giant sign saying "THIS TOTALLY MEANT SOMETHING!!!!!" in large neon letters.

Perhaps but the hours of gameplay between that and the eventual pay off sort of dull the memory of it.

Not really. After all, even the game asks you.... I forget exactly what it asks you, but it does make mention of this important thing that happened at the start of the game. Or... well, as Hii'mdaisy's comicstrip says. "Could that creepy gas station attendant be of any reason for this? NOPE! You're just tired. Now stop thinking about things!"
Or the ever sweet pick-up line: "Can I touch your haaaannnnd~?"

:/ Argument is : "I forget what it asks you" "Did something happen when you got to Inaba?" "This comic strip that spoils the game tells you"

It wasn't obvious for everyone Cat. The event was only one scene out of hundreds it's easy to forget that "Oh that seemingly insignificant thing happened."

Also Cat, spoiler tags, use em. The comic is pretty heavy on spoilers if you are going to just quote it.

Here.
The game asks you if you were exhausted from the long trip after "Nanako is looking at you."
Plus, not everyone read the comic strip before playing the game.

I didn't even know about the comic strips until after I finished playing Persona 4. Pierre knows that, he was the one who gave me a link to them. Well, their fandubs, but still. And it was still obvious.

It was little things like that that, after rewatching the anime after finishing the game, that made me smile :phoenix: For example, for some reason the personality status screen that popped up between each half of the episode amused me if for no other reason but the nostalgia :phoenix:

almost forgot there was a new persona talk show in japan last week and funny thing is...i guess were not the only ones burning our bread xD...

first off link to the page with the video.
http://www.siliconera.com/2014/02/28/heres-happened-episode-1-new-persona-talk-show/

they had pictures to help show what they mean (just copying whats in the link)
Image
in the Persona 4 opening song, ‘Pursuing My True Self,’ a part of the song says “Reaching Maximum Capacity,” which is heard by Isomura as “リッチな朝抜きパセリ/ricchi na asanuki paseri (rich morning-less parsley)”. Kajita shrugs at how it doesn’t make sense, but couldn’t hold back his laughter after hearing it a second time.

Image
from Persona 3 Portable’s ‘Wiping All Out,’ where it says “It’s coalition,” which ends up sounding like “イス壊れちゃう~!/Isu kowarechau (the chair’s going to break!)”

Image
sora-mimi from P4U's opening theme. "Thought I knew you" -> "Sora Nyuugyuu!" (Air, dairy cow)

I'm probably getting a biased answer asking you this buuuuuut...

Is Marie a good character? I ain't played the Golden to know why she's significant or what she adds.

Frankly? She is filler material in Golden. She doesn't really add much to the actual story of P4.
She's just there to give us an Aeon Arcana Link.

Yeah, she's a pretty cool character. A really nice addition to Golden! I love her character and character design. I dunno, but Naoto and Marie can really pull off that hat.

BTW, I haven't played Golden either.
