I got the impression that the main point was because it had very little to do with "Alice in Wonderland" and was more about "Grown-up Alice returns to Underland". It was a little weird. I mean, granted it was a Tim Burton movie which are always weird, and I like 'em that way. It was just a different kind of weird that was not entertaining, which is what usually happens when he remakes something.

Speaking of Alice, the Critic complained that she was boring... um, did he ever read the book? Alice wasn't very interesting in that, either, she was quite boring. The only "interesting" part about her was that she was rather sane in a world full of insanity. That's a difference, but not something that makes a character interesting.
Plus, people definitely saw the poster - that alone should already point out to them "This isn't like that Disney version".

I just think people only have themselves to blame, if they expected something from that movie that it obviously wasn't. I mean, just one look at the poster told you, "Alice is not a kid here".

I've also been watching True Detective. Two episodes left. Really good stuff so far.
On a related note, my Internet provider Comcast finally caught me torrenting after all these years. It was for said series, True Detective. Not really worried though. I don't normally download mainstream media and from now on, it'll only be through direct downloads in my browser or with VPN connections. I've been torrenting for years and don't plan on stopping.
