Ok, I don't know if you guys have seen this, but there seems to be a debate over the two animes known as Attack on Titan and Sword Art Online. It has become what One Piece and Fairy Tail was for us a little while back (except it was no debate over which was superior, it all came down to personal taste). So I seeing as things have been slow at Global Studios I thought it would be nice to have a thread dedicated to this topic.

As I have not see all of Attack on Titan yet (only the TFS abridged parody [and rocking out to the main themes{best theme songs in all of anime}]) but have seen most of Sword Art Online, my vote is for SAO right now. As I mentioned, the "love" portion of it feels like a major mood whiplash, but it thought it was sweet and genuine, so it could have been worse. As for AoT, yeah, the whole setting just does not feel like my cup of tea, but I would be willing to watch it, if Funamation would put it on YouTube or make it free on Hulu. (I'M NOT PAYING TO WATCH CRAP ON HULU! THE IDEA WAS THAT IT IS FREE, AND NOW YOUR CHARGING US TO WATCH SPECIFIC SHOWS. BULLCRAP!)

But I digress. My vote (for now) goes to SAO.

If I was forced to pick one, I'd choose SNK/AoT solely because I enjoyed it far more than that travesty called SAO. However, even as the series progressed I found myself feeling pretty bored while watching AoT. I think the fact that both series are overhyped beyond belief makes me dislike both of them even more. #toomainstreamforme

If they picked both, then they're admitting they have shitty taste. Gotta pick the lesser of two evils.

Just listen to the latter portion of this song, and tell me you do not see something like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCE-g8LNhTQ#aid=P9yFFlLMHjA

"Two armies faced off. One fell. But then, over the horizon, a grand wizard uses his powers to revive the whole army and the once defeated army rushes the other army and wins."

Maybe you just have to be in my head to know what I'm talking about. BUT IT IS JUST TOO EPIC!!!

Man you're all dumb. Everyone knows that Dragonball Z is, and forever will be, the best anime that ever existed in like forever and nothing, NOTHING, will ever take that away!

No, I like it. It is just, I beleive that every era should have a good anime, and DBZ in not apart of this era; that was the 90s.

Growing up, I never cared for DBZ and I still can't get into it. I think it had something to do with the whole "grow longer hair, get more powerful" concept.

Attack on Titan suffers from some pacing issues and lack of deeper characters, but has a fantastic plot, music, animation and overall atmosphere. Plus there's little to no fan service, which always helps.

Sword Art Online has an interesting concept, but that's about it. There's plenty of filler, unnecessary and boring characters and copious amounts of fan service. It also drags on for far longer than necessary, much like Naruto. I haven't kept up with it at all, and I highly doubt a series can mess up more than Naruto (it's like the Sonic of manga!), but it really just...ugh.

Also, why is Dragon Ball so popular? I'm not bashing it, I'm just genuinely curious. I read the manga when I was eight, and then sold them all when I was 10 to buy things with more interesting stories.

I watched both animes and also read the mangas.. I honestly like both, but AOT has something that always pulls me away just to repeat watching it over and over. SAO is good as well, but it didn't give me the kick, honestly. As far as I can see, both animes are somehow similar to each other and at the same time, they're not. AOT is a bit scary with all the huge-ass titans while SAO does not have this, but eh.. It just depends on how good the anime really is.

As for the manga, I've only read it once. I like animes more, so that's why I just bascially swooped the pages away and did not really put any thought into it. But since I've been watching AOT 5 times already, it's just clear that my vote always will go to AOT.

The beginning was quite fun, just with all the ups and downs
