...Again, for a given definition of "rips". These were taken with my capture card. Unfortunately, PLvsAA doesn't have a full gallery function, so I'm catching these as I go.

I've included stills from the animated scenes as well, since they're so much more frequent than in DD, as well as a few of the puzzle stills. Open to suggestions as to how to put these up on the site (just special 'stills', like all the other games? Stills and puzzle stills? Stills, puzzle stills, and bits of animated scenes?)

Since there's still a lot to go in this replay of mine, and I'm fairly busy with the semester, this will be updated slowly and added to C-R at an unknown point.

I'm also trying (with varied success) to get clean shots of character poses, since we can't exactly rip animations anymore. Is a 'pose gallery' for each character something people would be interested in seeing in lieu of an Animations page? It would be something like this:

Wow, these are really great, thanks!

I'd suggest that when you click on the PLVsPW icon, you are shown 3 sub-sections of stills, animation, and puzzle stills.

Also, I know this is a noob question and all, but would it be possible to take all the animations and make them gifs?

Ostensibly, it'd be possible, but a few issues:

-No way of removing backgrounds means a higher filesize and a lower overall GIF quality. Remember that GIFs are limited to 256 colors; when some of those are taken up by the background, the actual animation is going to look worse. (Not to mention that the actual animations aren't even limited to 256 colors, meaning there'd be loss there even if we could somehow mask out the background.)
--In the interest of all avenues: animated PNGs are a thing. But that'd be an even more titanic filesize.
-As with stills, some animations will have the textbox overlaid on them.
-There's some technical issues with recording the video for making animations. If I want a lossless video, that takes up tons of hard drive space and is tough to work with. If I take a lossy video, that compounds the aforementioned quality issues.

I am pleased to see these rips. Since some of these animations, like with Zach here, are reused several times throughout the game, perhaps someone who also has a capture card could lend a hand with capturing alternate shots?

As expected, the APNG looks better than the GIF, but dang, that file size. IMO, the GIF doesn't look too shabby either, but those X's in the background do stand out a bit. If conserving space is that much a problem, the GIF should be fine, but I'd recommend the APNG otherwise.

Where is the de-synching coming from?

GIFs have less precision with frame timings. The APNG is at 60FPS; the GIF is at slightly slower than that.

You can remove the backgrounds fairly quickly by:
-increasing dpi to 300
-using 'quick select' tool in Photoshop (set quick select to about 14px)
-changing dpi back to 72

this took a minute:

another couple of minutes, and I could have cleaned it better (so that you can't see the background under his armpit.) So it is possible, but takes a little work.

Edit: but yes, unfortunately, changing it to 256 colors makes it look quite ugly :sadshoe:

I just started Chapter 8, and through the power of Miiverse, have snagged some profile images (I won't be able to get too much at once... I don't want to flood Miiverse with random screens of the Court Record.)

It's appreciated, but... I actually have the profiles/most of the evidence from the last trial already, I just haven't uploaded them yet because I still need to get the stills. :oops:

So don't worry too much about it.

(Miiverse also saves images as JPEGs, if I'm not mistaken, which hurts the quality a bit.)

That said, one thing that would be nice to get a screencap of is the diagram of chapter 8's crime scene, since that has actual localized writing on it.

And Yeah, I was worried the quality'd drop using miiverse, but the screenshots are still relatively clear! There's the tower diagram that's also got localised text on it, if you want that capped as well.
