Hey, it's the first step in totally becoming BFFs with her. Just wait until the time comes where you guys will have sleepovers, stay up late talking about boys, trying on each other's clothes, ya know, like her varia suit, which you can then run with and go around shooting the heck outta whatever you want. I was serious because it sounded like a good time.
On topic, I'm gonna say that if they bring back a Mother character, I'd rather Lucas over Ness to be honest. I liked his control and attack options much better than Ness's. I'm not really upset about making the changing characters two separate characters. For Samus, I didn't like the Smash Ball changing my playstyle. For Sheik, I'd probably be more upset if her character didn't suck in Brawl. I mained Sheik in Melee, got one taste of her in Brawl, and hated how much they nerfed her. Zelda got better, but I never really mained Zelda much so, meh. If Sheik is better in this game, I'll be happy. If not, I'll cross my fingers and hope I can still use Pikachu as my comfort zone until I can find someone I'd love maining. Really hoping I'll like Mega Man.

Yeah but then every time I tried calling her I'd get one of her Toads saying she was in another castle and I'd ask whose and they'd say Bowser's 95% of the time and I'd ask when she was due back and they'd say she's waiting for the plumber to show up and you know how reliable plumbers are, they might not get there for ages if ever
Besides, having to save and protect her all the time would get annoying fast. Looking for a bestie, not a waifu.

I get your point, but their special abilities were more or less the same, which I just find boring. Sure, there were variations, but I really didn't think it justified being THREE of them in the same game. Hell even Ganondorf and Captain Falcon are too similar in my mind, even though one of them is much slower but slightly more powerful than the other. At least Ike and Marth felt different.
Hm, after reading some comments on the latest Nintendo Direct and subsequently losing a lot of faith in humanity, I don't think I'm ever going to whine about a character appearing/not appearing ever again.

Yeah Wolf's abilities are essentially the same just tweaked, but hey my main is Luigi so it's not much different. I like how Wolf's Up B has that extra kick at the end for a nice bit of punch and that the blaster can knock back up close. He's also got a meteor on his Side B unlike Fox and Falco but just like Fox and Falco I feel those Side B dash attacks get me killed more than is useful.
Also...he's just straight up cool and I like his powerful regular moves compared to Fox's which always felt weak. However yeah I imagine Wolf will probably get dropped. I think the most glaring problem is that all their final smashes as practically identical and it's a real let down if you have multiple of them in a match as there's little variety to the Final Smashes.

Yeah...something along those lines, and sadly not exaggerated. While I think my demands are a bit more credible than those of the drooling masses of the youtube comment section (like Lucina due to fanbase popularity and Awakening success, and Fire Emblem characters have had two slots since Brawl, and a remade Ganondorf, who shouldn't be relying this heavily on hand-to-hand combat in the first place), it sort of makes me reluctant to wish for new characters, since I might be mistaken for those mouth-breathers.
Oh sure, I agree, I occasionally play Falco, for instance, but I wouldn't mind it if Fox was the only one from the Star Fox game this time around. It sure does look like they're trying to balance things out and make each character more distinct, which I wholeheartedly approve of.

The Link/Toon Link situation is different, however. Character specs and physics aside, they represent two different directions from the same series, while the Star Fox characters don't have such a distinction.

Oh, how the Earthbound fanbase would revolt if that ever happened. I remember there actually being outrage at Ness and Lucas using PK Starstorm, so I could just imagine what would happen if they just made one a palette swap of the other. Cries of "Ness/Lucas doesn't use that move/weapon!" abound. Not that I think it will come to that, though. I believe we'll probably just get one or the other, not both. I agree with this. (Although has Snake been on any Nintendo consoles? I know there's the 3DS version of MGS3, but that's Naked Snake, not Solid Snake, so...)
So if there was going to be a Tales character, it'd probably be Lloyd, the new MC from Tales of Symphonia 2, or possibly Luke, since TotA got that 3DS port. I think there were also a couple of Japanese-only DS Tales games, so I guess it could be someone from there, but I don't find that as likely.

I know a lot of people find Luke to be more annoying - pre- and post-haircut - but at least he had some damn good reasons for acting that way. Emil is annoying when he isn't bland as toast. Using Luke has a similar problem. If they use him with long hair, he'll be annoying and people will hate Tales of the Abyss, refusing to play the game because this asshat is the main character. Using him after the haircut, he'll be too depressed, questioning his existence or even flat-out thinking if killing himself will actually repent for his bad deeds. Too depressing and "dark" for a Nintendo Smash game.
Much as I don't want to see Lloyd, he'd be a decent pick. He's an unrealistic idealist. It's perfect for Nintendo. (As long as they make his alternate outfits the actual alternate outfits from Symphonia, including the PS2 one, it's okay)
But I said it before.. we have Tales of VS, which is basically Smash Bros with Tales Of characters. No need to put them into the actual Smash Bros.

Emil can go eat a bag of dirt. I haven't even played the game, and I don't plan on it solely because of the footage I've seen of him. I'd have to rank him lower than Asbel on my list of Tales protagonists.
I wouldn't mind Lloyd. Twin-swords is a pretty cool playstyle, and I think it'd totally work.
Side note: I know he's not even close to being Nintendo related, but I'd want Yuri the most dammit! His smug-ass laid back swordplay is just too good.

It's mainly cause he's such a refreshing protagonist compared to most. He's not a kid, doesn't get depressed, isn't super idealistic, has a dry sense of humor, and isn't afraid to dirty his hands to follow his beliefs. I'm sure you remember that I've said this before, but he's an already developed character that helps the others around him develop. I really liked how he wasn't your average JRPG protagonist. He was just a really cool guy, and if you don't like him then that's still cool. You're just a person who prefers characters to grow over time.

Greninja's side special move is Shadow Sneak. It's like a teleport that lets him get behind opponents quickly to attack them from behind, and it can be charged up to move greater distances. Interestingly, it's one of the few moves you can charge while moving around freely.
So counting this, it looks like Greninja's special moves consist of the following:
B: Water Shuriken
Side B: Shadow Sneak
Up B: Aqua Jet (?)
Down B: Substitute
Ironically not a very good moveset for Greninja in the Pokémon games, but then again that's true for pretty much every playable Pokémon in Smash Bros.

We could take pretty much any RPG protagonist at this point and sarcastically go:
"Oh yeah, cause I've never seen a "archetype X" protagonist ever before".
By this point. Most RPG protagonists have been done so many times now just getting tired of them because they've been done before seems a cheap cop out. It's ok if you just don't like the 'tough guy' archetype (god knows I don't like the 'stoic uncaring' archetype for protagonists) but just because it's been done before isn't really a complaint in itself.

Yeah, but that's the thing... I have nothing against someone saying they like this type of protagonist, they can like it all they want. I just don't really see why they'd open their argument on why they like them with "He's a stoic/cheerful/badass guy" because... well, it's been done so often, I'd immediately point out a different protagonist with the same characteristics that they may not have liked, despite being practically the same person - only with a different name and appearance. (Yes, you probably think how come I say this when I like Light but not Cloud but... well, Light is a woman, she punches people and she has pink hair. 3 things that Cloud is not, so already reasons why I like her more than him)
As Blak said, he says Yuri is an already established character whose purpose is more to cause his party members to evolve as characters and not himself, since he's already "done". Fine. I personally would prefer to know how that development came to be BEFORE being shown his finished form, but whatever.
So... as long as someone can explain to me why they like that type of protagonist ASIDE from saying he's a badass, you know that's just fine. (I like Kratos cause he's cool, I like his appearance, his voice is music to my ears and his outfits are kickass.... except being given Ludger's... I hated Lloyd's suspenders and now they DARE to give Kratos suspenders?!)
