Always nice to see Ace Attorney mentioned in unexpected places!
Who? Wright? Yeah, I remember him, I hear he's busy lately. You know, not to ring my own bell, but I sort of taught him everything he knows. I'm sure he's grateful.

That's cool! It's nice to see that Ace Attorney (and Maya) got the recognition they deserved

That list was kind of crappy, though...

IGN doesn't seem to know what a WINGMAN is actually supposed to do...
Wingman =/= Sidekick

Before I clicked on the article, (before this topic was made) I wondered if Maya would be in the list.

I thought "Nah, this is a list of best wingMEN".

Surprised I was wrong. :maya:

:objection:
Wingman definition:a man who helps or supports another man; a friend or close associate
I feel like Maya fits the bill there.

Wingman is generally more associated in making the other person look GOOD, mostly in cases to make the other look more attractive to the opposite sex. You know, they look better in comparison to the wingman. That's the definition that I learned.

Wingman actually sets up the ideal situation for the "pilot" so to speak

That's just a common connotation. The actual definition of "wingman" is someone who provides support and/or protection for the pilot or primary individual.

Coming from a site that praises games that never change and complain about there being too much texts in visual novels, this is a bit hard to take seriously.

I overall don't take anything serious that any larger game-reviewing thing says. Mostly cause... I dunno, the way they talk about games, it feels like... it's legal talk. Or how you write a reference for someone. No matter how bad that employee was, in the reference, you can't ACTUALLY say that they did anything badly... but you can... write it in a way that, to other employers, it can say that the employee had difficulty fulfilling this or that task. Same here, they make everything sound good, when actually something is just made to sound good.

I think what he was going for was that they praise games that have very little change from each iteration (like Call of Duty) to high heaven, and clearly don't understand the fundamental qualities of a visual novel. If your reviewer doesn't even get what the genre of game is that they're reviewing, then you have problems.

I never really take anything IGN says seriously though, either. It's clear they get paid off, and some of the scores and comments in the reviews for smaller titles are evidence of this.

In their PLvsPWAA review they called the plot "disappointing" because the reviewer didn't want the main plot to be in Labyrinthia, but rather in regular London so Phoenix could interact with Chelmey and Layton with Gumshore etc.

I like the product I got MUCH more than what that reviewer wanted, and worst of all, she was just blatantly biased about it.

I'll never ever go to IGN for reviews again. Okay, that's not even the worst example, Greg Miller praised Dead Space 2 for having the "best protagonist in a video game" because the game dealt with him trying to let go of his dead girlfriend who haunts him in his mind... which was the exact same thing that happened in DS1, but in the second game Isaac could talk or scream and swear, so of course that deserved more recognition than the first game which was all-round better because it didn't have an awful story.

I haven't trusted an IGN review ever since they gave God Hand a 3/10.
