Otherwise, though, I'm guessing Mrs Edgeworth is dead. Maybe she died during childbirth.

According to the the wiki:
Quote:
Sahwit was convicted of the murder of Cindy Stone and imprisoned, although he received a comparatively light sentence since the murder wasn't premeditated.

So, Premeditated murder = death penalty, non-premeditated murder = 25 years to life.

Spoiler: Headcanon about Oldbag
Oldbag knows a huge lot of details about Hammer's "accident". What if she was the reporter that took the photo? She's very secretive about how she got the photo, and yes, I know Dee Vasquez tells Nick and Maya that she wrestled it out of the hand of the reporter, but my personal headcanon is that Oldbag was in fact that reporter. Dee found out, and blackmailed Oldbag. Oldbag was probably down on scoops, so Dee offered a position at her studios in return for Oldbag keeping mum about taking the picture.

If Oldbag was that reporter, I'm sure Dee would have said so, instead of "Oldbag wrestled the photo out of the reporter's hands".

That's stupid for the AA-verse, considering they don't seem to CARE if a murder is premeditated or isn't. It was never brought up as an actual necessity (only in 1-5, but I have my issues on calling that proper canon). And considering that they would convinct a then-9-year-old for the accidental murder of his father as MURDER (ie. a planned one and not actually an accidental manslaughter), yeah, makes no sense.

It's also brought up in 2-4, AAI-2, AAI-3, AAI2-3 (I think), AAI2-4, and 4-2 (though I'm not sure about that one)

I'm not entirely sure where I got this from, but I imagine Edgeworth's mother was a foreigner—France? Spain?—and his family travelled back to [insert her home country here] often, which is why he was so cultured as a kid. She died due to some unfortunate disease in Edgeworth's youth, though.

For some reason, I imagine Larry having an enormous extended family, with dozens of (all female) cousins, so part of why he's always taken advantage of is that he's grown up trusting women immensely, and I also imagine him being raised by a single mother.

I don't remember that ever being much of an issue in 2-4 and I recently replayed the case. I-2? What... oh right, the airplane. Wait, weren't the only suspects at first Edgey (who has no reason and is too pweciou and protagonistic to actually kill someone, even by accident) and that annoying blond jerk? I-3 was a stupid case and I also don't remember it being important anywhere...
4-2... nah. Maybe the bullet thing was talked about, but actual premeditation... don't remember... then again it is 1 AM.

Gumshoe's first testimony in 2-4 was about Engarde purchasing a knife and that's how he knew the murder was premeditated. You prove that's not true because the knife was from the hotel but then Edgeworth says it was premeditated because the knife came from the Engarde's room

One of Franziska's testimonies in I-2 involved premeditation I think. That, or it was briefly mentioned that Edgeworth or Rhoda planned killing Akbey but then it was disproven somehow. I don't really remember. I'll see if I can find it later

Aw. I actually love I-3. There was a lot of talking about whether or not the kidnapping of Lance was premeditated by Lolli and Colin (which is stupid because people don't kidnap others on a whim). Instead of proving it wasn't premeditated, you prove there was no kidnapping

You're probably right about 4-2...

Ah... no wonder I completely blocked that out. Cause the knife wasn't the fucking murder weapon! I mean, come on the AUTOPSY report says death by strangulation. Why the hell should I then care why there's a damn knife in the body, that's not what killed him! And even IF they had the "premeditated or not" discussion about the strangulation, they couldn't prove anything with that since the "weapon" was his bandana. No premeditation "required" since it was in the room.
Urgh now I'm remembering the annoyance of them talking about that fucking knife like it IS the murder weapon for an entire TRIAL DAY AND A HALF before they stop and realize the knife isn't what killed him. I dunno, GENIUS, read the damn Autopsy Report! Oh My God, they were such MORONS about that...!

*inhale* .............. *exhale* ........... okay, I'm good. I'm calm. Sorry. That idiocy in the game just got to me...

Kind of a jokey-headcanon thing, but I'm still going for it.
Considering Franziska got shot in her right shoulder just like her father, I say it was Edgeworth who shot her.
The pistol looks the same as the 1-4 one, and Edgeworth might have learned his lesson in touching a gun with bare hands, so maybe he wore gloves this time. Also...

It's my headcanon that, whenever someone is "dazed" in the AA-verse, they are at risk of picking up a gun. Edgeworth is living proof that he has a tendency to pick up guns when he's dazed. Once during DL-6 and during 1-4. I am seriously turning this into a running gag in my AA LPs.

I came up with two reasons why Edgeworth is such a fan of the Steel Samurai series and both are kind of sad, if you think about it...

#1 - Watching it reminds him of his childhood prior to DL-6, maybe of other children's shows that he might have watched together with his father, and then stopped when Karma started to raise him.

#2 - It's something simple he can watch and give his brain a rest, given his job is tiring and demands a lot of activity and thinking from him. This is a simple black-and-white world, so there is no need to somehow figure out why the bad guy is doing things.

That reminds me of what someone said somewhere (yeah, very specific); that maybe Edgeworth likes it so much because he didn't have like... the possibility to really be a child... in his childhood. Something like that only they put it better than I just did so that it actually made sense. Personally though I'm more into the thought that, as you said, it's a relaxing break from hard work and reality for him, if there's a reasonable reason at all.

And while I'm in this thread... I'm sorry, I just have to share this thought because I can't unthink it. Don't ask why I even got there in the first place.
Spoiler: It's about Klavier and sex
I think he - secretly - loves being dominated and submissive in the bedroom. I just... ugh. I just really think that's the case.

And even though there doesn't have to be some reason behind sexual preferences it would kind of fit him, I mean, with his perfectionism and also keeping up with both being a prosecutor and leader of a band. He's in charge a lot, so maybe he enjoys having someone else taking charge and just giving in and totally do what someone else says for a change. That and the way he's, to some people's complaint, pretty stoic about what he goes through. A lot of people has said he doesn't give much emotion and stuff. And then, of course, in rough times, these... moments would be like an excuse for him; the only time and place where he allows himself to be weak. ... ... ... :yogi: Sorry.

Valant thinks Zak killed Thalassa. That's why he was willing to frame his partner for murder. That, or Valant feels like Zak wasn't affected by her death and just laughed about it (and Valant did (canon) love her) so he felt like he deserved what was coming to him

Out of curiosity, how old are you? You don't have to answer it if you don't want to.

Ahm, to keep on topic, I guess I'll share this one.

I've always imagined what our favorite judge was like in his younger days. Apparently, he's gained some fame over the years as the "Finickiest Judge Ever" or the "Demon of Due Process" even...

Then I pictured Phoenix as an old man, and suddenly everything seems to come together. ("Turnabout Terror" is a good one.)

So I figure that Udgey back in the day was rather like Phoenix, but as a judge. Likewise, I can see when Phoenix ever becomes that old, he'll be just as senile.

The world is a small place sometimes.

Dual Destinies spoilers:
Spoiler:
After her mother died, Athena first went to live with one uncle and his family in Spain. However, they felt she wasn't happy there so she went to live with her other uncle in Switzerland and that's where she met Phoenix and studied analytical psychology.

AAI2 spoilers:
Spoiler:
Raymond Shields became a big 'brother' of sorts to Edgeworth after the game ended. He made several attempts to get him a girlfriend by introducing him to several bunches of girls. When that didn't work, he eventually decided to try and get him a boyfriend instead.

Except that didn't work either. It took a while for Edgeworth to work out what Ray was trying to do when it came to the boyfriend part and just got annoyed. I headcanon Miles as asexual So Ray finally gave up.

Edgeworth doesn't put cravats on his dog. However, Pess once stole one of his cravats and used it as a comfort chew toy. Edgeworth at first was angry but couldn't be angry at his baby for long so he let her keep it.

Phoenix is half-Japanese.

Ramen noodles are Maya's second favourite food.

DD spoilers again:

Spoiler:
Maya found out about Edgeworth's Steel Samurai fanboyism and made him write essays too. The difference between Edgeworth's and Phoenix's essays is that Edgeworth's are actually good and well-thought out. Being the troll that he is, Phoenix always put non-serious answers in his essays: "The Steel Samurai is in love with the Evil Magistrate. This was shown when Monica from Friends put a chicken over her head..."

Maya was all, "Niiiiiick. X("

It wasn't. Pess is something that was mentioned by the creators but never mentioned in the game.

I don't really have highly-thought-out headcanons. (That's a lie. I just prefer explaining them through the medium of fanfiction.)

So, random headcanons:
- Phoenix and Athena met in Germany
- Edgeworth speaks fluent German
- Klavier speaks, like, high-school-level German, and has a horrible American accent
- Klavier and Kristoph have the same hairstyle because it's a traditional Gavin hairstyle
- Larry's mom is Sister Bikini
- thanks to channelling, it's totally possible to get a dead woman pregnant, it's just considered really unethical
- pregnant channellers can't channel (and especially can't channel men) until after the baby is born
- von Karma's granddaughter (the one who owns a dog named Phoenix) actually exists, but her parent (I usually think father) is estranged from the von Karma family, which is why Franziska never mentions an older sibling

Spoiler: 5-4, also Ghost Trick
Also, Clay got ghost tricks, because the moon rock was similar to Temsik. Apollo actually died in the courthouse explosion, but Clay saved him.

This is actually a good point to consider. I would imagine channeling puts a lot of stress on the body in general, and could potentially endanger pregnancies. Also, Maya mentions the medium's spirit "disappears" during a channeling, but if the medium is with child, what would happen to the second life?

Quote:

It was confirmed that Franziska has an older sister. But I like the idea of the sibling being estranged.

It was confirmed that Franziska has an older sister. But I like the idea of the sibling being estranged.

Spoiler: 5-4, also Ghost Trick
Also, Clay got ghost tricks, because the moon rock was similar to Temsik. Apollo actually died in the courthouse explosion, but Clay saved him.

This is my new favorite one and I'm accepting it as canon (with Kristoph's inferiority complex following closely behind)

Also, some Trucy headcanons.

- gets kicked out of a lot of schools for racking up absences, so during AJ she was actually (well, technically) homeschooled
- can't get her driver's lisence because see above
- has really bad taste in animé, as in she likes dumb fanservice reverse harem stuff
- probably runs a blog about really, really messed up crap, as in she's probably Admin T of Socially Unacceptable Art 15
- most likely has already figured out she's related to Apollo
- sees no issue with blackmail, it just hasn't come up yet
- has never dated because Phoenix automatically hates any boy she expresses interest in
- calls Phoenix's friends "Aunt" or "Uncle" like she did with Valant; if I remember correctly, she's never once referred to one of Phoenix's friends by name in-series, so it could still be a thing
