Hmm I would like to see Maxwell from Scribblenauts. It would pretty pretty interesting to see what his moves would be.

I'm still holding out for Isaac though to be honest I think we might be done with 'new' reveals.

Sonic wasn't that broke and Ike's recovery is just a double-edged sword.

Anyway I was referring to the stupid ability to summon EVERYTHING.

Sonic was so broke he was banned from tournaments and Ike was just broke for the sake of being broke >.>

Well they could limit his moves to having certain summons. :grey think:

What are you talking about? Both Sonic and Ike weren't anywhere near broken. Sonic was never banned from tourney play. Nor was Ike. In fact, both of them are in the "D" tier, so they're pretty much near trash tier.

Anywho, as for a character I'd like to see? A non-sword wielding Fire Emblem character, like Tiki. Playing as a Manakete would be pretty awesome.

Ike is broken but I never said he was banned from tourney's but Sonic has been. I heard about it but then again its been a long time since I heard about it so I guess the times have changed.

No. The only character to have ever been banned from tourney play is Meta Knight. That's it.

Look up a video on YouTube of any halfway decent Meta Knight player and you'll see why he's banned.

I can't speak for Sonic since I played him maybe twice ever, but Ike has a lot of power and...that's it. He's slow as hell and has terrible recovery.

I saw some Meta Knight players back when I had this argument with someone on this thread and I understood how broken he was but I still say Ike is a broken character and so is Mr Game and Watch with his quick recoveries

Today we have one of DK's alternate special moves, Storm Punch:

Image

Sakurai specifies that when using the customization options, every character will have twelve different special moves. They will automatically be disabled when playing online in "With Anyone" mode, for game balance purposes, but you can use them when playing with friends either online or locally.

And before anyone asks, yes, there is a slider in the options menu that let you turn custom movesets off when playing with friends. It was spotted during the E3 Digital Event montage about the 3DS version.

Not to mention that Scribblenauts is from 5th Cell, and Sakurai has gone on record that he doesn't want too many third party characters in the game, so definitely not happening this time around, cool moveset potential or not.

Also, even if we don't get new reveals before the game comes out, we're still bound to have at least some new characters as secret fighters in the game, so there's still some hope in that regard. And if Little Mac can make the jump from AT to fighter, Isaac can too. Unless he was already revealed as an AT again and I just forgot... Don't think so, though.

Sonic's final smash was way overpowered, but since tournaments don't use items Sonic has always been fair game. Ike has terrible recovery so a he's easy to use for low level play, but you won't get far with him against the pro's. Game and Watch has quick recovery, but has a slow start-up on his activation frames so he also balances out.

Looks cool that DK has something a little more tech than I'd have thought, though I wouldn't replace his awesome basic *BOOM* punch with that.

I've not seen him as an assist trophy but are you even certain we'll get secret fighters? I'm pretty sure the entire roster (unlockable or no) was revealed in advance last time around on the Smash Dojo.

Manakete's might be too sizable for it to work. However a mage like Soren has plenty of potential for fancy moves from his magic.

Nope, anyone listed here under Secret Fighters wasn't revealed before the game came out in Japan. Some (most?) were revealed before it was released in the U.S. and Europe because the game came out in Japan a few months before those regions, but in Japan they were definitely revealed after release.

Not to ruin your parade here, but doesn't the link give information about Brawl instead of the new one? Since it shows the old character art and stages from brawl.

Which is what Pierre was referring to, unless I'm mistaken. The Dojo was the name for Brawl's website after all.

If I were to guess, you heard about Sonic being banned from an "unofficial" tournament which used items, seeing as his Final Smash is pretty much the most powerful one. However, Meta Knight being banned has only to do with his character's strengths and (lack of) weaknesses and moveset.

On the subject of customizable moves: while I welcome it and think it's going to be a hilarious addition, it really seems like balancing it all out is going to be impossible, and I hope it doesn't take time from balancing the real movesets; I really don't want another Meta Knight on the loose.

I suppose that's why they are scrapping it entirely from online matches (excepting Friends who probably are using their own customised ones) so they don't have to go through arduous balancing processes.

Though yes Orca i was referring to the Dojo of Brawl thanks for that. I guess it's a little to ease my worries...I guess perhaps I just spoiled myself by looking at all the secret characters as they came out back then and forgot they were actually serious. :sadshoe:

Dear lord, it was bad enough how devastating that punch was in brawl combined with his headbutt to the ground move. :grey:

Link gets an alternate costume, based on his Skyward Sword look:

Image

This essentially confirms two things. First, that at least some returning characters will be getting alternate outfits, not just the new ones. Second, it also proves that the alternate colors seen in the E3 demos weren't all the options available.

Personally, I hope Mario gets Dr. Mario as an alternate outfit. It'd be an easy way to include the Melee character without having to separate them again.

SHSL Ultimate Hope wrote:

This isn't quite as bad as it looks, really. I'll see if I can explain as simply as possible.

From what I've seen analyzed of the alternate movesets, each version has three variants:

- The standard version of the move, which is usually somewhat stong and average speed
- A light version which is faster but weaker
- A heavy version that's stronger but slower.

The version shown here is likely the faster/weaker variety, as while it looks like it hits hard, you can see that both Luigi and Sheik aren't being interrupted in their attacks and/or animations. That means they're probably just being pushed backwards, a similar effect to Mario's F.L.U.D.D. move.

Which sucked utterly.

I kinda hope they've got the cool blue scarf look from Hyrule Warriors as a costume but I doubt it seeing as it ain't out yet.

One song I'd like to see is a bitchin' remix of the "Punch-Out!!" theme. Some hard rock kinda stuff that will really get you in the mood to KO some dudes.

One thing I'd like to inquire about is the overall opinion on the possible Gematsu leak that is steadily gaining legitimacy. The reason I'm getting interested about it is because of these guys.

Image

They were included in the leak, and they're causing havoc over on the Smash boards on Gamefaqs. It's Phoenix Wright in UMVC3 all over again. They haven't even been confirmed, and people are flipping their shit. The only reason Rhythm Heaven fans are starting to believe the leak is because it's gotten characters such as the Wii Fit Trainer, the Villager from Animal Crossing, Pac-Man, etc. And because people have seen Rhythm Heaven characters in the Smash Run mode (specifically, a Sneaky Spirit). I'm a big fan of Rhythm Heaven, so I'm gonna sit back and see how it goes. I won't be upset if they won't get it (although I really want them to be a secret character to spite the assholes that insult the series despite knowing nothing about it simply because they want a character from a unique franchise in). I would have been fine with an assist trophy, but we'll see how this turns out. Rhythm Heaven's been acknowledged by Sakurai and the team in Smash, so I'm pleased. :phoenix:

Thoughts?

See when it's characters like Isaac, that have been like Little Mac (stuck in assist trophy hell), I can agree. I knew that feel :sadshoe:
