Is anybody else a bit irked that Moffat turned episode 12 into a filler? I mean, now we'll only have a one-part finale. I feel ripped-off. If he screws this up again, he might put me off watching it until he steps down... D-:

Except Moffat didn't write it (for once)... but I do agree with you about feeling ripped off and that this episode being nothing but filler.

Also, I was disappointed that the Cybermen barely featured in the episode despite them being the villains. All in all, it was hardly the episode I was hoping for...

I understand what you mean. In 2006, they had a chilling two-parter. And it was pretty awesome. But this..? He blows them up with his love? How many times have they used that one now? I get the feeling that Moffat wants the Cybermen to have minor roles. That said, I enjoyed the stealth excerpt they used of the Cybermen theme from 2006.

And yeah, this episode was written by someone else, but Moffat sorts out the order of the episodes and the outline of the series. Seriously, there better be a damn fantastic surprise at the end of episode 13 or I'm suing! xD

In all honesty, I'm getting tired of 2 part finales. None of them got the pacing correct, leaving 1 episode slow paced and kinda meh and the other episode rushed. Let's see how a single part finale works out.

Well, yeah, you've got a point there. RTD fixed that problem with Utopia in 2007, but it's getting old again, now. It would be better, I think, if they made a standalone finale but made it a bit longer. Not 'Journey's End long' but an extra ten minutes would be great.

What I don't want is a finale that breaks all the rules already put in place. One that solves all it's problems with an anti-climax. I don't want another The Big Bang.

The first 44 minutes get a 7/10. They were alright.

The last minute gets a 9/10. It was GENIUS. I love how the Doctor who died was actually the midget people.

Spoiler:
I have to say that I was really surprised that AU!Rory didn't get killed. I mean, as soon as I saw him I thought that he would get killed off at some point, but apparently not.

Anyway, I have to say that that it was better than last series' finale, although I found the Doctorbot ending a bit cheap.

I thought they kind of gave away the whole Doctor-inside-a-Doctor thing by having the midget people in the opening preview. D:

I didn't get the question though. XD

But the episode was good. "She thinks you're a hottie ... Ness ... And wants to go out for texting and ... Scones."
I thought the issue with time was that the Doctor was still alive... how then was it fixed when the teselector got hit? Sure, the others may think he's dead, but the universe will know otherwise and time should still be broken? It was a fixed point after all...

Unless the fixed point wasn't him dying, the fixed point was the teselctor getting hit all along and he was never going to die? So confused...

Either way, bring on the sneaky Doctor.
Episode 12 was disappointing, as Cybermen should have a bigger part. The Cybermat from the old Doctor Who returned. I lul'd at Stormageddon. Episode 13 was cool due to the jacked-up England and the giant pyramid lair. The Question, was to me, a cheesy plot device, yet it still made some sense.

I love it so much. My first (and favorite!) is the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston). The last episode he was in - the one where, at the end, he regenerated into the 10th Doctor - made me cry. It was fantastic. :will:

*dragging back thread that has been dead for almost a month*

Hmmm, I do think Episode 12 wasn't that great. I mean, the bad guys feature for all of 5 minutes and the plot device of the week was cheesier than a pile of Cheddar. That said, I did like it for the closure provided. And that's it. :T

Episode 13,
...
Was episode 13. I wasn't thrilled by it, and it wasn't the strongest ending ever.
I'll say this about Matt Smith, he has excellent stand-alone episodes, but the series finales he's given are sorta been there, done that. >:U 'Kill it/pwn it/point karma at it with the power of love and friendship' was the Tennant-era all over. Why can't we go a little darker here, and this time set it up so that it's not a deus ex machina that saves the day, but a method that is possible within some set rules for the universe.

Oh wait. This is Doctor Who. How time works changes every episode. Silly me. :larry:

Spoiler: So it's been confirmed that...
Every Dalek that they could get a hold of will be in the series opener this year. And when I say all; I mean ALL. Ones from the 60's, 70's, 80's (including Special Weapons Dalek), 2000's and 2010's. As many as they could get.

This could be good or bad depending on how it's done. If the episode is still only 45 mins long, then it'll be done badly and seemed rushed *cough*VictoryoftheDaleks*cough*. But if they make it longer, it has the potential to be good.

If I get any more news, I'll post it here ASAP.

A Doctor Who topic! I'm honestly shocked I've missed it for so long. I must be blind.

I really enjoy the show. Got into the modern version first, but I've watched a lot of classic Doctor stories and I do like them, too. It's really hard to nail down a favorite; there's really no bad Doctor, even the 8th in the awful movie. I hear the audio stories are really good, though (and canon now).

I have four different replica sonic screwdrivers to date, as well as a TARDIS and a Vortex Manipulator I picked up at Comic-Con. I wouldn't say I'm a diehard Whovian, but I'm steadily getting there. I'm definitely excited for the 50th anniversary special, of course, so there's that to look forward to. And the Christmas special, even if it'll be hard to say goodbye to Matt Smith. Then again, it was hard to see David Tennant go, but that went pretty well, so I'm interested to see how things go.

I went digging through the topics to see if it was there before starting one on my own. ^_^;;

That's how I went into the show, as well. I find it hard to like some of the older episodes that I've seen: they tend to flounder a bit on unnecessary bits of the plot, staying on shots for too long (a common film school problem apparently), and sound quality issues that compound obstructions of accent- I can't understand most of what Ian and the human female say in the show. I have to put on freakin' subtitles. Also, apparently the episodes with Ace in them don't really showcase how awesome she is.

Still, I very much enjoyed The Three Doctors, as any time the Doctor interacts with his selves is fantastic.

As for Doctor Who paraphenalia, I have two versions of Eleven's sonic screwdriver: one in wiimote form, and two in DS stylus form. However, the wiimote one doesn't do that open-y thing, and while the DS styli do, neither version lights up or makes that sonic noise.

Wait, Smith is leaving at the Christmas special? Understandable to trade off at a climactic place (end of the season), but part of me is quite excited to see Dozen, as I shall currently call him as I forget the actor's name and I am currently too lethargic to look it up.

The Day of The Doctor. So excited for it, but somewhat... cautious. Some of the episodes recently felt a bit... rushed. I'm looking at you, "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship".

Must... start... watching... Seriously, one day I must watch this show. I've heard so much about it from everyone and already know a lot of things from it. So is it best to start straight from season one?

Season one of the 2005 revival, yes. I don't recommend starting at the very beginning back when the show first started in the 60's, otherwise you're in for a very long haul. 2005 is one of the best places to jump in, and you can always jump back to earlier episodes if you just want to see what the earlier Doctors were like.
