For me at the very least Gen 3 has that feeling.
It may be because i first played it when i was 6 but i always have a feeling on wonder and adventure whenever i play that generation.

Eh, I still find taking down a mafia while capturing the equivalent of a god in a ball at least somewhat adventurous.

Eh considering how much ancient history, old ruins and caves you explore in Pokemon games I consider them adventure by virtue of exploration. I mean it's basically Indiana Jones a lot of the time.

When you put it that way, Professor Layton would be an adventure game!

Anyways, I've been playing Hyrule Warriors a lot recently, and it's gotten me interested in playing the actual Dynasty Warriors games. The problem is that there's, like, a million of them. You've got 8 main series Dynasty Warriors games, tons of Capcom style updated versions of them, the Samurai Warriors games, Warriors Orochi, the Gundam games, the One Piece games, the list goes on. I have no idea which one to start with! Any suggestions?

The latest versions of course, go with DW8.

Also Professor Layton is arguably plot-driven. You don't really get to explore areas as much as in Pokemon. While it's an adventure for sure it's not what I'd term an adventure game.

Professor Layton as an adventure game...

So, if this were a real thing, he'd actually do his job as an archaeologist, excavating rare things from the past, stumbling into secret adventures, and making loads of money from his finds.

Instead, he decides to take a 10 year old boy, force him on his conquest to dabble in his hobby of solving puzzles, making no monetary gain from this, yet he somehow still has the funds to live in a nice place and travel to obscure places of the world, just so he can come up with another way to find out how to get a ball from Point A to Point B. Thus, we get a puzzle game.

And no, I refuse to believe that hint coins or picarats serves as any kind of currency! Unless this is in some strange parallel universe where London has decided that euros aren't good enough, but we all know that Layton will just uncover that secret too and figure out that this London is just another fake town.

Curse my limited lack of knowledge of London and my inept American attitude of not doing research beforehand. Layton still has no excuse for his usage of "currency" however. I don't see picarats putting food on the table every night.

Picarats are probably just his own mental points he assigns himself rather than any physical currency.

I mean he gets them from making up puzzles in his own head at times so...if you got paid for solving your own puzzles you made up he'd be pretty set.

So... he'll be willing to waste hint coins just so he can solve puzzles that he made up? Where are these hint coins going? Or perhaps the bigger question is how is he able to reach for hint coins all the way up in chimneys in the background when he's down on the streets. Yes, I've thought into this a little too much, but it makes it funny.

Where else would the hints come from? If he's making them up obviously he knows the answers and the pathways to the answers so he can make the hints too.

Sometimes, you have to just accept a gameplay mechanic as a gameplay mechanic. Not everything has to make sense in the context of the story. When I was a kid, I used to give a reason to EVERYTHING in my games. For example, I pretended that the time trial missions in the Sonic Adventure games were you racing against an invisible foe. I pretended that the "collect 100 rings" missions were you trying to get enough money to buy the emblem. I pretended that when you land on a red space in Mario party that Bowser steals your 3 coins. I pretended that the spaces were all teleporters that transported the players to the location of the mini game at the end of each turn. I pretended that you used 100 coins in Mario 64 and Sunshine to buy a star/shine. I had to give a reason to everything in a game, even if it was just a gameplay mechanic.

Oh, I don't ever think about it when I play. It's just fun to speculate sometimes. After all, I think it's where some of the best ideas come from when wanting to make parodies based on games.

Speculating about how something works in a game is interesting, though I tend to derive much more fun from pointing out things in games that strike me as impractical and/or unnecessarily dangerous. For example, considering the shape of her armor, it's rather impressive that Sumia doesn't get badly injured each time she trips. It's similarly remarkable how Sora is able to be a threat to anyone when this piece of crap is his weapon of choice.

Been playing New Leaf quite a bit lately, I want to make my town beautiful but I don't know where to start. My villagers aren't requesting what I want, Lucha's requests in particular are terrible. Then an ugly bull moved in, I want cute villagers like Flora, Ankha, Tia and Stella to move in.

Some peoples towns are gorgeous and it's not fair :yani-fist:

Also I'm trying to get 100% on San Andreas (iOS) and it seems impossible D:

Eh XD Like he said "magic".

Keyblade looks cool anyway, I don't sweat the details, though they actually did the guard-on-one-side-only version of the Keyblade except then they decided to wield it backhanded with the guard on the side facing the body so he'd probably go mad at that as well.

I think Yuki Kaji uses a slightly lower Hope voice in Lightning Returns compared to the one in XIII. Not that I mind. It's fitting and all. Great. Just saying... took me replaying XIII and LR in close succession to notice.

Just so you know, Danganronpa doesn't work on PPSSPP for Macs. It'll run, but you won't be able to examine everything you need to advance the plot.

Isn't that problem fixed by pressing F5 (I think that was the default setting)? I recall doing something like that. (I don't use a mac, though...)

I just checked. No it is not. Pressing F5 changes is supposed to change the rendering option, but the game only thinks that you've selected an object if it's set to Read framebuffers to memory (CPU), and on a Mac, it won't match up the objects with what you've selected. It works fine on Windows, though.

Hm...I had downloaded DR before and got to the first room and remember not being able to examine everything. I assumed it was because PPSSPP wasn't at the newest version, though, so I uninstalled and figured I'd do it another day, bringing me to today

What I do? Different emulator?

Which is how it worked for me... so the Mac doesn't do Read Framebuffer to Memory properly?

This is a rhetorical question right? Off course it is! It's Smash for Pete's sake! Let me give you some numbers if you still aren't convinced.

Hour loan: €10
Price Wii U + Smash = around €300

Hours work needed for purchase: 30
Estimated time spent in smash: 150-210

Ergo the ratio of what need to work compared to the fun you'll get from smash is 1:5 or 1:7. And this includes the Wii U purchase.
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

...even if you cut the price minus Smash to about 250€, considering the price I've seen, I doubt I personally would get a WiiU for Smash. I already have one game, anyway, so I wouldn't need to buy a game to be able to use the console. I'd rather buy a WiiU for a new Zelda or something.

...but... money...... I'm gonna go eat my food now... :sadshoe:

PS: I asked Gamestop a few weeks ago and they had one used WiiU for almost 200€... still too much.
