AOE's are only good with a wide range (like Sheik's special attack) or if the AOE can be moved in this game. Staying static when enemies just tend to sit there make things... problematic. BARELY cleared the Ruto stage, though part of the problem probably was due to being in the low 20's.

I just want to clear the story. I'll do extra stuff afterwords. Though I'm waiting on it for another reason: I'm waiting on my dad to return home. He's my P2 for the game, and it makes things so much easier when I can split the work.

Haha I guess what with being effectively in two places at once, can get difficult to manage I suppose. Though that's always part of the fun and tension for me.

Though I dunno, I found Darunia's AOE's had plenty wide range, could drop fools with them like it was a special attack. Most mooks won't bother you much anyway, they love standing around paralysed in fear and if you aren't focusing on the actual 'health bar' enemies then well it's your folly I guess. They seem to be the only ones capable of posing a threat.

I am. Each battle with a health bar was a massive time-drain. Again, most of it is the fact that he was underleveled, and he could've had a better weapon. Darunia is just too slow. But then again, it's probably playstyles.

I like Link's mobile approach, as well as Sheik's quicker attacks. I'm guessing you're also great with Lana's weapons.

Great with Lana's weapons? Eh I wouldn't know I've only tried her book and it's....alright. I suppose the fact that so far 2 out of 3 charge attack combos (ignoring neutral charge) just shoot lightning over the place is kind of boring to me. There's not much to differentiate them other than one's long distance and the other is in a fan.

I do love her run animation though and detonating the walls is pretty fun an satisfying when it works.

I'll agree, the detonating is fun.

I haven't really tried Midna yet. But I'd want to level her up quite a bit before I start going into her adventure mode missions.

I find the Dojo is enough to get someone to an acceptable level before I run with them. Still you've played more than me, perhaps the difficulty wall is still to hit me.

The dojo gets expensive. I've got no one under level twenty, Link is level 38. Getting everyone up through that experience disparity is going to be difficult without EXP+ weapons on everyone. I'm going to be doing a bunch of grinding to get there. But it's helping fill the gaps. Luckily, I don't use the apothecary much; the smithy is cheap, as is the badge crafter's.

Just tried the spear, it's weird and I don't get it's mechanic very well. Two of her moves leaf her floating airborne on a deku leaf where you swoop at foes from but it doesn't feel satisfying (which some of the other aerial attacks do).

Eh maybe it'll take time to grow on me but I'll pass for now.

Though how important are these 'elements'?
I've occasionally seen enemies with bubbles on their heads for water elements but I can't think how important they actually are in the other levels. When I see "recommended element" does it really matter?

Edit:

For Geno

Spoiler: (Minor) Spoilers for the main quest
What you talking about Ganondorf's not playable in any scenarios? I just unlocked him in story mode and the next plot quest is playing as him.

Yeah, I just did so as well. Then who the crap is in the upper left corner of the Adventure mode? That's weird. Maybe it's Zant? It's hard to tell from the 8-bit pixel.

Speaking of, a certain hero of the multiverse just got a wooden sword. Haven't tried it out yet, but it has 280 strength- but no stars. Unsure how stars effect the game, but yeah... excited!

Just hit what I'm guessing is the second or third act of the story mode.

I was gonna make a rush to finish it tonight but eh duty calls.

Playing as Ganondorf is hella fun though, his charge attacks are basically musou attacks for all the damage they do.

Yeah, Ganondorf is severely broken. If there were a multiplayer, I'd wager it'd be something along the lines of "Ganondorf only". The only downside to him, if there is any, is that his charging during strong attacks can be interrupted. Still, his full-bar strong attack is uninterruptable, but it does leave him vulnerable.

I do not look forward to inevitably fighting him.

Yeah but his full bar strong attack most often wipes foes.

Plus if you get any kinda respite then you are fine to just start charging in the wilderness, you'll probably only need one blast.

Even without his super charge bomb you have the ABSURDLY GIANT ARM OF DARKNESS ATTACK on his 5-attack charge. Honestly it looks better than his special attack if you asked me.

Though I'm surprised you like him so much, he seems more immobile than Darunia for his attacks.

Yeah, but he makes up for it with a wider AOE, ability to used ranged attacks in his normal combos, and higher power (as he has one of the highest DMG caps in the game, so I've read). I've also leveled Ganondorf up considerably, his story missions providing about three of the twenty-something levels he is now. He's amazingly cheap to raise up, given that he starts at Lv. 1.

I have a feeling- from what I've seen- Agitha and Zant will also provide me with a lot of fun. Though I'd have to say, in terms of how I handle them?

1. Ganondorf
2. Link/Sword-shield
3. Sheik

Though the giant arm is hard to time for me with Ganondorf, but I tend to try to pull that one off, as it has the widest close-range, and I also try to use his spirit bomb as well.

Haha...the spirit bomb...

I hope to see that as a meme somewhere in the next month internet. Do not disappoint me.

Also lets be honest, it'd be disappointing if Ganondorf WASN'T absurdly powerful.

Maybe. I hope I'm able to use Cia as brokenly. Cia is one of my favorite characters of the game, and I honestly really liked Volga and Wizzro. I hope I get to see them again in the story mode, at least.

And yeah, totally thought Goku when I saw that. Next thing you know, Link'll start using Kamehameha waves, and Impa will start with the Dodon Ray.

Wish there was some sort of in-game hints as to where the Heart Containers were; I've found a few pieces but only one full Container. That's the biggest problem that comes to mind for this game; if you miss something you have to play the whole map over again to get it instead of just going back and collecting it like in other Zelda games. Of course I'm not used to this genre so maybe that sort of thing is the norm?

Didn't realize how much girl power there was on Team Link; so far I have him and Darunia, along with Impa, Shiek, Lana, Midna, Fi, and I imagine I'll be getting Agitha and Ruto soon too.

Everyone I've used so far has been enjoyable. I haven't used Darunia, Midna, or the delightfully semi-creepy Fi yet.

Fi: *drops down directly in Link's face* I will be accompanying you until the mission is complete. Understand?
Link: *nervously nods*

There's just something vaguely unsettling and alien about Fi, especially as far as the Zelda universe goes. Don't get me wrong, I like that about her, it makes her feel unique.

Dunno what Geno was saying about the last battle being anticlimactic.

Beat it with a quarter heart left after deciding to burn my magic to topple the sucker instantly because I wouldn't last another round.

Honestly, that's the stuff anime is made of.

Browsing TVTropes and I see an Entry for Hyrule Warriors under "Literal Split Personality" that was spoiler tagged appropriately (nothing shown past the title unless I highlight it, which I didn't) which just made me go, "Oh great! Now I have a theory! This could ruin part of my experience of the game"... Then again, the theory is also coined by a comment I read on a fanart where someone said something about Lana and looking at Link = (something bad)

It's just, how do you justify an established fantasy character riding a vehicle when you have the mushroom kingdom (in which the karts very much might run off toad piss for all me know) where many things do go. I mean, they have organized sports like we do. What do you expect? I just want to see the look on Link's face when he first saw his bike. It probably blew his mind.

Remember Mario kart is held in like the Hollywood of Nintendo. Where all the characters are filthy rich and spend the money from their games on lavish race courses and battlegrounds.

Link is probably cool with it.

Actually thinking back to that Steampunk Link cat posted...a loz game set in a slightly more modern steampunky time would be pretty cool.

Right. Right. I only skimmed the article. I should have been the Zelda purist and gone with carrot power. I know I'd give my hopes up, but having Link use that particular vehicle and replacing the mushrooms with carrots would make my day.

Okay, I'd really like to know how the difficulty level is determined in some of these Adventure Mode missions.

"Defeat 800 enemies in 10 minutes!" Seems easy enou- "Oh and by the way, you'll have between four and six enemy main characters hounding you and at least two giant bosses on your ass the entire time, have fun!"

...how the hell is this difficulty level 2?

Announced yesterday during their Direct presentation, Nintendo revealed Majora's Mask 3D. It's coming out sometime in Spring 2015.

Also, for anyone that purchases the amiibo figures, they're compatible with Hyrule Warriors. Most of them will just give you free rupees and crafting materials, but the Link figure unlocks the Spinner weapon for use in the game.

I've never been the biggest Zelda fan. I've played and completed the first, and Twilight Princess. But I do like me some dark adventure, so I promised I'd play Majora's Mask if it ever got released for 3DS. I've seen and heard great things about it, so let's. Go.
