Definitely. I still was able to enjoy the game, but it's rather annoying how many tragedies could have been averted in games by a simple "why are you doing this?" conversation between adversaries. Then again, that problem is far from exclusive to games.

Happens in TV Series, movies and books all the time. I don't get it, especially if the setting is done in a realistic world similar to ours and the characters overall are human. Humans don't ACT that way, we ask questions, we don't just hear a tiny fraction of something and jump to major conclussions that end up being wrong, anyway.

Plus, it's pretty dumb since it's done for drama. But I can't believe that type of drama cause it's so unnecessarily easy to avoid. It disgusts me when that type of fake drama is done. (Sure I may begin a chapter in a story with a misunderstanding, but I always have an explanation conversation that, I hope, sounds like people would try to talk to avoid more misunderstandings and clearing things up)

Psst, Pierre. I want a certain monster's tail in Monster Hunter, but it seems like to do that, I need a weapon that does "cutting" damage... So which weapon type should I switch to for this?

EDIT: Apparently gunlance is already a "cutting" weapon... Hrnnnnngh....
The gunlance's pitiful mobility makes getting to the tail a pain, though. Got any other suggestions anyway?

About the puzzles, it's just something that needs to click in your mind Cat. Like math: do similar problems long enough and you'll start knowing how to find the right answer.

CatMuto wrote:
It doesn't. I was never good at puzzles, especially block puzzles or the 3D-Environment-Thinking required to do it. I may see that there's this tiny part that is a repeat of "Grab 2 Blocks, grab 1 Block above, push 1 Block to side, go down and press the 2 Blocks to the side" and do that again, in the other direction. But only in the Rapunzel stages. I can't work very well if something is chasing me like the bosses or the damn thing will fall if I take too long.

Hey! I managed to get Gold on the last Stage of Catherine on my own. Probably helped cause I had to do the last stretch so many times, I kinda know it now... now if I manage that on Normal/Hard, it'd be better. Still gotta do the last few stages once more for Freedom ending and then I can do a Catherine run.

I don't know if I'm interpreting this wrong, but this does sound like my earlier remark was right on the money. Although 'playing the game more makes you better at it' is kind of a given.

Got through Metroid Other M (Wii) which had been lying here for a while. It definitely has some problems with the story (mostly in script and presentation of it), but as an action game, it's pretty decent.

All they needed to do was make the cutscenes skippable on a first playthough and maybe the fan backlash wouldn't have been so... intense. Samus is delivering a monotonous soliloquy again? Skip!

True. Although I think with the last Stages it helps cause I had just played them, so I remembered the general layout and what I could or had to do from the videoguide. Though replaying the game on Normal now, now that I know what I can do in terms of "techniques" which you either have to figure out on your own (which can be difficult if you feel pressured from the floor caving under your feet) or learn from the other sheep (which you don't get to until partway through), some of the early stages are easier. I did need help on Immoral Beast and The Child. (Fuck the Child! From its noise to its speed!)

Btw in Pokemon White I am in *mumblewumble* Town and am increasing my levels to fight the second Gym Leader. I accidently killed a Jitotsu or whatever when I wanted to catch it. Also, surprised Ottaro didn't evolve until Lvl 17 when I recall others doing that at Level 16.

Finally up to the 2nd dungeon in Skyward Swords and luckily the game still hasn't messed up even though the CD has a ton of scratches on it. Did enjoy whipping some Ghirahim ass in the 1st dungeon :basil:

The level the starters evolve at tend to vary (because... reasons). Totodile and Cyndaquill from Generation 2 evolve at 18 and 14, respectively.

Speaking of which, I still haven't finished Pokemon White myself. Might as well get on that while I have the time.

I don't remember which one is which, but IIRC in gen 2, the starter that has its first evolution soonest has its second evolution last, and the one that has its first evolution last has its second evolution soonest. Honestly I kinda like having small tradeoffs and variations in the starters like that.

Hooray, got my new Monster Hunter gear together today! Got a new slash axe, a set of armor to accommodate it, and then some decorations to complement the armor. Ended up semi-randomly getting the skill that automatically marks monsters, which seems like it'll actually be really convenient.

I'm going to have to practice using the slash axe on some earlier quests, and then it's STRAIGHT FOR GORE MAGARA'S BUTT

(I'm also not really sure why they didn't call it a "swordaxe"... especially considering in some weapon names, they refer to it literally by a combination of the kanji for sword and axe.)

I got the demo just the other week, got my eye on the new 3DS XL Monster Hunter edition. Excited about getting it :kristoph:

Why?! WHY!? Why is it so difficult to get someone to trade me an Amethyst in A New Beginning? I swear, guys, it's NOT that difficult of a gem to obtain! Jades, yes, those can be difficult. But not Amethysts. And damn time difference, all these American players don't seem to be on when I am, always around 3 or 4 AM.
Doesn't anyone in Germany play this game? Fuck it, maybe I'll keep trading early in my mornings (9 AMish) with Japanese players and hope to get lucky. I got lucky at times, getting Yam Seeds or Silkie Eggs.

Urgh I just noticed that I seemed to have missed a conversation for Todd and Archie in Catherine. So, once again, I cannot save Todd, meaning I can't save Archie, either... well, I have to do a third run for the True Freedom ending, anyway.

In PKMN White I am in Stratos City and feel like I can't get my pokemon decently leveled.

And in Fire Red I THANKFULLY got out of the seafoam islands and managed to get to the next Gym. A hotheaded guy, I think I need to go into the Pokemon Mansion.

You idiot, 9.8 m/s^2 is the standard acceleration of Earth's gravity, which isn't a constant; it slightly varies depending on elevation. The gravitational constant is 6.67*10^-11 m^3/(kg*s^2). How are you even passing Physics?

Yes, I started playing Tales of Symphonia, though it's too early to give any opinions.

Acceleration due to gravity does not work that way. Yes I know it's a fantasy world, and this line of dialog really doesn't affect anything, but come on, anyone who's even payed attention in Physics class would know the difference.

Ah I could never get the hang of the Switch Axe. I felt that both forms were too slow and with no capacity to guard there was no way to balance that. Seriously every other weapon that makes you move that slow gives you a block to balance it out. I just couldn't get into the swing of things with it.

In any case me and my friend wiped against Gore Magara today on the demo...

Yeah I felt bad, two of the continues were my lives but hey I was trying a new thing as a gunner and on both occasions my friend had left the area leaving me the sole target. That's problematic. When he died he was also one-on-oneing it with the Insect Glaive and I was trying to return to the area from my death so....

Practice is necessary.
