He may have changed his username.

when I'm on Mijumaru's sprite thread, I just feel like I'm talking to friends :phoenix:
Guess we should stay more on topic, plus I have a few questions to ask Mij.
Do you plan on making a case/fan game? Have you've made any cases/games? Do you use Ace attorney online?
question blurt! :redd:

Please keep the chats to the actual chat section on the forums please. :viola:

And Yes, yes and yes.
IF you saw my first post on this page, I posted some OC's for my fangame "Turnabout Investigations". I haven't done much on it, but so far it's been a one man job XD So it will take me a long time.

So I'm not the only one whom fixes sprites in Court-Records. You also fix sprites (well, you fixed Wellington's sprites.). But wait a second there... Didn't you said that AA Characters' Hair has 2-4 colors? Then what about Ryunnosuke Naruhodou? His hair has only one color. What about it, then?

About Maya's HD Animations... Well, not to be rude, but it kind of looks exactly like the normal ones on DS. What's the difference between the HD ones and the SD ones? They look both the same, to me. Also, when the characters talk, their mouth actually moves like "A-O-A", but in your Animated HD Maya, her mouth moves like "O-O-A" or "O-A-O".

Also, a good luck on finishing Athena's Defense Sprites! I'm looking forward for the completion! :gant:

- I also did April May and Redd White for someone in the request thread (Forgot to add them here)
- What does fixing sprites have to do with hair colours?
- Ryu's hair has 2 colours, turn up your brightness or open them in your editor to see.
- Maya's HD sprites are downscales of the iOS sprites. If you look at both side by side you'll see the difference.
If you can't see it, look at the colours, particularly her obi (The strap around her waist) and hair, and look at the anti-aliasing (particularly the mouth).
- Also the mouths do move "A-O-A". All mine copy the official sprite movements exactly. (Full open, half open, full open, closed). A being an "Ah" sound (open mouthed), O being the "Ooh" sound (rounded lips)

Look at the HD animation I did versus the DS one (open both in tabs next to eachother)
Image
Can you see they're the same mouth movements?

-Thanks! They'll be done eventually :viola:

Telling you, Mij, if you came out with HD sprites for all the characters, you would see people coming out with HD DS roms for the games.

Although, they do give you not so good HD thumbnails for DS sized screens, as seen below.

Haha, that'd be WAYYYY too much work for me to do alone. When I made the Maya ones, no one showed an interest, in them or making them, so I'm guessing they're not that needed. (The Dual Destinies characters on the other hand, I'm getting requests left right and centre!)

Nothing. I meant about putting the half end of the sprites with no half ends. :viola:

Dunno. Maybe I saw it, maybe I didn't. I use a LED Monitor, Y'see. Which doesn't let me see black colours pretty easily. I need to use even more light sometimes to inspect them. :karate: (Hope my eyes aren't going to get hurt later. :sadshoe: )

Alright, I got the difference. :basil:

Alright. I need to stop you here. The HD Mouth-Moving Animation looks nothing the same on my computer. It practically moves "Oo-Oo-Aa" or "Aa-Oo" sometimes. Is my computer's monitor got wrong or the sprite is? I'll be downloading the sprite to inspect it on the editor. :luke-side:

Haha, You'll see if you open it in your editor and use the colour picker tool.

Haha, they move identically to me. How old is your computer? Maybe it's having trouble playing the gifs properly?
If you open them up and look at them frame by frame, they move Identically (I used the sprites on CR and literally copied their timings, so they're not different! :basil: )

New sprite time!!!
This one's a little different from my usual sprites. This is my first try at drawing a portrait sprite from scratch (I've only fully drawn AAI angled sprites)

Image

Tell me what you think! Are there too many colours? Design errors? This is a style I need to improve on!
EDIT: I should state this character's design is inspired by Espio the Chameleon from the Sonic series.

There's a bit of criticism I'd like to make :
The main thing that bugs me is the shirt : It seems to be larger at the bottom of the sprite and looks kind of weird. I also have a minor problem with the shades used for his skin, I don't think that there's enough contrast between them (but seeing as the style is not quite AA-Like, that's not a big deal).
Anyways, the design is really simple yet effective, and the sprite looks really clean, so you did a great job :redd:

Thanks! I'll get to fixing these!
I wanted to make it look like the shirt was baggy, that's why it's slipping off his shoulder, but I don't think it came out right.
I also want to make it more AA too, so I might need to do more fixing up!

Nice sprite! I think the outline of the strap is a little too dark(or maybe it isnt, idk). And it looks really flat at the end. I don't think it's too much of a problem though! Can't wait to see more portrait sprites from you xD

He kinda reminds me of John Marsh (Shimon Aizawa)
The body is nice, and the face looks squished, and the colors look a little bit boring. I recomend puting more contrast next time.
I myself did some modifications to show my points, hope you don't mind.

Thanks (I really like the face on the far left one!) But I'll make one myself, this way I can see how to get that result myself! :basil:

I gave it a go:

Before -
Image
After -
Image

I took everyone's criticisms, and also decreased colours down to 64 (Which is still higher than AA's 16, but I might lose too much detail the lower I go. I also tried some alternate T-Shirt designs, whic one do you like best?: (That Espio sprite was a trace of an actual in-game one, just simplifying it and using this sprite's palette)
ImageImage

EDIT: (I know it looks dotty around the arms, but that's just a bit of pixel bleeding to make the lines smoother, it's only really visible on this dark background :kristoph: )
EDIT 2: I've decided to name him "Cam Melian" for obvious pun reasons :hotti:

You could do a pose similar to wocky's kung fu type pose since espio is a ninja in sonic :will:

Yeah, I used Cody Hackins as a reference when sketching him, so I was thinking of some of those Ninja-like poses for him! He also looks like he's got a bit of an attitude, so I need to make a "So what? Stuff you!" type pose :hotti:
