I found that strange, too. Barnham said there was no sign of a struggle at the scene, but couldn't Phoenix have said that he spilled the powder during the struggle? I just guessed that in the end...

My least favorite however is Espella, I felt as if they were all talking to cardboard most of the time, and while Espella is key to driving the plot, I don't feel as if she gets emotions other than sadness, guilt, and happiness.

I feel like that's a huge problem a lot of the time since she's so important to the story. Surely I feel sorry for the gal but it's pretty hard to be emotionally invested when you don't know who you're being invested in...

Exactly my point. She's so important but her character is about as interesting as a rock. Sure she had some moments, but most of the time it was "Thank you all so much" "Oh my god someone's in trouble NO TAKE ME." Not really an intensive to help her.
If the game wanted me to be invested in helping her, I would've liked to see some more depth, heck maybe give us more reason to suspect she's innocent other than "I believe in her."

Gonna have to agree with you there. Espella certainly is kind (And you raise an interesting point if they decided to run that route.)

I can agree with you on the first one, she wasn't even introduced until after the...first trial wasn't it? Then we see her again when Maya and Luke are roaming around, then absolutely nothing until the end of the game.
Although granted considering Manfred that seems to be a running theme with AA.

My favourite character introduced in this game is probably Inquisitor Barnham.
My least favourite character was Espella Cantabella.
Also to add, I adore Darklaw and the two blonde twins who are always fighting, aha. So cute!
