Cast photos for the full cast of the second Ace Attorney play, Ace Attorney 2: Farewell, My Turnabout, have been released! Running from April 29th to May 10th, it serves as an adaptation of the game episode of the same name.

Do they explain the need for 2 Mayas/Pearls/Franzys?
I'm guessing it's because they can't make all the dates this will show :bellboy:

Some look really alike to the actual characters! Nice casting!

Are they planning to make an AA Anime Episode completely based off AA2-4 or something? Or is it some sort of AA Stage Play?

I think that's the reason, yeah. It's not uncommon for roles to be double-casted.

It's a stage play running at the end of this month and into May.

I never understood why they're making those stage plays and live action movies. I mean, for anime-styled games aren't official manga, and finally official anime the most natural step?

I agree with you, Nevaerx. However, I totally want to know if they will record the entire stage play for Foreign AA Fans and put EU Language Translation in it. I mean, it will probably be entirely on Japanese; and non-Japanese speakers can understand any of it without any translation is done.

It honestly seems as if anime is the only thing Ace Attorney hasn't been adapted into.

I don't know about novels, but there is official manga of both Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth with original stories. They were localized too; check out Amazon. I believe there were nine total volumes.

I think there were some other manga things too, but those weren't as good, IIRC, so I didn't get them.

Yeah I knew about the manga,though I have not read much of it,just some of the stuff translated here.

I've never watched the original play,I wonder if I will be able to find it with english subs somewhere...

Besides a novel series, yeah, the most obvious thing it can be adapted to is the only thing it's not adapted to. Capcom is sitting on a treasure here. Think how many more people will learn or finally check out Ace Attorney if there's an anime, which is arguably the biggest and most well-known medium to the franchise's core audience. Like, c'mon.

There have been at least three novels/short stories.

1) KURODA, Kenji: Gyakuten no Kakehashi / Turnabout Bridge (2007). Written by the scriptwriter of the manga, this short story was serialized in two installments in the literary magazine IN-POCKET. Never reprinted AFAIK.
2) NAKAJIMA Hiroyuki: Gyakuten! Saibanin Houtei / Turnabout! Judge Trial (2009). Part of an AA-themed introduction book on the Lay Judge system in Japan. The book opens with the short story where Phoenix first experiences a lay judge trial, after which follows a more in-depth explanation of the Lay Judge system. OOP, but not very good to be honest.
3) OOISHI Naoki: Gyakuten Saiban / Turnabout Trial (2012). Novelization of the 2012 film. Still available.

I think Larry already appeared in the first play, so they probably prefered using his character instead for the sequel,

I believe its due to the child labour laws as such especially with the Pearl Actors. It could be be possible that the actresses are underage but it is also possible schedule clashes play a factor too.
