Yeah, that's the ticket.

I couldn't figure out how their layering was working. It looked like it was loading them just as standard images (so no crazy scripting involved) but the CSS didn't bear that out so I got lost.

EDIT: Hey, cool, I figured out how it works too using the "Inspect Element" feature of Firefox (I had tried this before to draw out the images but didn't realize you could drill down into the blocks of code to expand them and break the page down further).

On http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/115/1115408/, there's this screen:

I don't think we've actually seen the bottom screen for the water mirror scenes, so that's interesting to see! I wonder what this big space on the bottom screen may be for...

That big space is obviously an area to use to steer a cursor on the top screen using touch controls. It seems silly, but it works remarkably well.

Yeah, but the question is: What would that be used for?

Since one of the buttons says "Present", maybe you move the cursor over one of the 3 expressions then present a piece of evidence that contradicts it?

Or maybe one of the things in the upper screen contradicts the statement in the lower screen and you have to pick which one (you know, like the overload mode of the Mood Matrix).

But couldn't they have just done it like the Mood Matrix if it's overflowing? Doing it like that seems kinda overcomplicated.

Visually, at least. The MM didn't have moments where you presented an argument and actually are in danger of getting penalized for a wrong answer. Almost every time つきつける shows up, it's presenting an argument that will be held accountable. But since it only says つきつける, we can't be sure if it's referring to presenting evidence or is more akin to pointing at the screen and identifying the contradiction.

And speaking of that contradiction, I do wonder... I assume, based on the screenshot alone, that image in the mirror is what Bokto can recall. However, I figure it only shows one part of his story. The rest will need to be cleared up. In that case, would "the boy's voice" refer to his voice or another's?

I can't remember what the button said for the mood matrix... Was it つきとめる?
Jus' looked it up and it was. So if "Present" leads to potential penalties maybe this is what they're doing to adress people saying DD was too easy. I just hope for free roam in investigations. I didn't like being spoon fed and guided to only examine relevant things. I wan't more irrelevant and funny dialogue!

Yeah, that's probably my biggest gripe with the game. That, and them literally telling the answer before making you guess.

I hope they mix the classic and DD style investigations together for this one. I love being able to examine every environment I'm in (it's probably the place where the characters have the more subtle character development) but I also love the point-and-click style "moving around" investigation they did in DD. It wouldn't make sense (from both a development and difficulty perspective) to have the DD-style examinations in every location, but I think it would be great to have the classic GS1-4 examination for non-essential locations and the DD-style examination for crime scenes and other important areas.

It didn't bother me that much, but I do think they need to stop that "telling you the answer" for the next one, as its the number one criticism I hear of the game. While I generally either find cross-examinations in all the games to be DD-easy or extremely hard with no real in-between, I think them giving such strong hints hurts the experience and makes the game feel even more "linear" than it already is. I don't mind basically reading an animated AA book, but they can probably cut out a lot of the hints (or make them optional) and people will appreciate it.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

Well, they say you can turn off hints in this one, and I'm glad because it was pretty ridículos in DD.

I replayed 1-2 the other day and, just to say an example, there was this contradiction when White says that the victim ran to the left, but she ran to the right according to May's testimony.

So, when you press that statement, Maya says something like 'there's something odd here'. Okay. That's a hint.

If it had been DD, Athena would have said before even starting the Cross-examination: 'the victim ran to the left? Tha doesn't sound like what Ms. May tesfied.' That's not a hint. That's saying the answer.

Yeah, I think that's the best solution. Aside from it being too much on development and difficulty, it might also be just cumbersome for the player to be able to see every location from like 4 angles. That's a lot to look at!

After this many games I think we're entitled to have Charley as a playable character. He's a bit green but he his roots stem from the office and I don't think the gameplay would be watered-down at all. But then again if he doesn't do very well he could soil the office's reputation.

It will be a bit difficult convincing the plane staff that Charley doesn't deserve a seat in the luggage department, but nothing is impossible for Phoenix Wright. This is for the future of civil rights for all plantkind.

I want Phoenix to look like Tom Selleck when he's older.

And maybe drive a Ferrari and steal California's water, too.

In all seriousness, I love seeing heroes age. I have no idea why. Indiana Jones, Solid Snake, Han Solo in The Force Awakens; I like seeing these young, fearless characters return for unfinished business as a different person than we knew before. I feel like AJ did a little bit of that with Phoenix, but I'd love to just not get any more Phoenix-centric stories (in regards to plot, not playablilty - for instance I wouldn't call DD a Phoenix-centric story) and then have a game where he's getting too old to do this anymore (which in the AA universe would probably be like 40) and have him do it one last time to wrap things up.
