You're expecting someone to be rational about emotions, which by nature are irrational.

Yes but this is post-emotion. Emotions are heated and brief. It also doesn't excuse what is said while in a heated passion. If someone is overcome with fury and strikes their partner it doesn't really make a sufficient defence to say "I lost control."

I mean you literally just reflected on it and acknowledged you were being irrational. If we can reflect and recognise something we can try and control it.

I suppose that's as close as I'll get to "Sorry, I just lost my head for a moment," so I should probably just cut my losses and be happy with that.

Yes, this can be discussed, if you want to, as this is a pretty serious topic and is worth discussing. I am venting, but you can talk about this, if you want to.

America's solution to the most recent event of civilians killing other people with guns? BUY MORE GUNS. How fucking stupid are you people? No, having a gun doesn't automatically mean you are 100% protected from being killed - what, are you all going to get a carry permit and a concealed carry permit? Because that's what you'll need for your little protection. After all, what's the point of having a gun, if you aren't gonna carry it on your person? The Bernadeas people weren't shot in their homes, it was out in the open street.

And small kids? You have small kids? Well, fine, you don't need a fucking gun to protect them. Hey, considering the amount of MORONS we have, who have guns, that's how AMOK happens! There was something fucked up with the amok-runner first and a convenient gun at home was just a quick step to deal with things. Con-fucking-gratulations, it took your 8 year old kid SEVEN YEARS to find your gun. Let's hope your next child manages to make it to age 9.

Oh, and Trump was a nice little comment to. "Hey, France, it's YOUR OWN FAULT for the people killed by those terrorists last month! Yeah, because you are too strict with your gun-laws." WHO THE FUCK EXCHANGED YOUR BRAIN WITH SHIT, YOU TROGLODYTE!? I didn't care much for you to begin with, but THIS? Are you fucking high? Or just criminally stupid? No, a gun (or even a group of people with guns) is not gonna help against A MOTHERFUCKING MACHINE-GUN! Especially not when people around you aren't AWARE that it's being shot!

Those people were at a concert! They didn't know someone with a sub was standing behind them and was shooting for minutes into the crowd. People even said they thought it was just noise from the concert. Fuck you, Trump! What non-existent filter did you let that statement go through, that told you that it's OKAY to say that?

But your signature says not to reply...should I reply? Is it some kinda trap? I DONT WANNA BE BANNED!

I jest but really choose one place or the other for that.

As for your actual matter, do you have a link to it? I've been really busy last two days to look at a newspaper.

Also FYI might not want to say all Americans are morons for being in favour of guns (or more guns as you put it). Those sweeping generalisations are pretty bad.

I'm not in favour of guns myself and the chain of events as you describe them seems pretty dire but I'm just a bit out of the loop. I'm amazed that Trump could get away with that without universal reprimand. Then again a friend said that a neo Nazi group recently came out in support of him publicly, perhaps he's betting on a rather undesirable crowd for his election.

Trump is an idiot. 'Nuff said.

I disagree with the idea that people shouldn't own guns in general. Armed civilians can and have ended shooting sprees much sooner than police could, simply because they were at the right place at the right time. Plus, I believe studies have shown that a good portion of guns used in violent crimes weren't obtained legally anyway.

Do I think everyone should own guns? No, but then, I don't believe everyone should own/drive cars either. Like any tool, a gun in the right hands can be very helpful, but a gun in the wrong hands can be catastrophic.

I would say that people should probably undergo psych evaluations before purchasing guns though. It won't help keep people from obtaining them illegally, but it should help keep them from people who lack common sense, but who wouldn't go so far as to try the black market or something.

Alternate subject: Why do they call it common sense when it seems so few people have it? Is it just that the media only reports about people who lack common sense, so we have the mistaken impression that they're the majority?

Not necessarily, but it'll give me a better chance than if I'm walking around with nothing in my pocket or just my knife. Besides, have to wait till I'm twenty-one anyways.

Trump makes a lot of asshole comments, that this is unsurprising. Why he's so popular is beyond my understanding.

In my opinion, yes. If someone likes collecting guns, not for protection or using it as a weapon but just collecting it like stamps, and thinks they absolutely must have a gun in the house, at least buy it without ammunition. What, owning a gun without ammunition is stupid? So is collecting stuff for no sake other than collecting it, like stamps.

I dunno. It's insane. He's insane. No person would say shit like this and expect to be taken seriously. I know jerks are like by some people (I like jerks in videogames! But not THIS type of jerk.) but he is beyond that. He should not be in any authority position. Heck, if he does get to become president somehow, I hope he gets assassinated pretty dang fast. As an outsider I have to admit that I'm curious what would happen if Trump were to be the next president. It would be the biggest social-economic experiment since Communism was implemented into former Russia.

Experiments are fun until they become dangerous and volatile.

Like say giving a hyper aggressive individual access to America's military? It'd be less intrigued and more fearful of what it'd mean for the future.

Are you implying that Trump is dangerous and volatile then? He needs to be chosen by the American people themselves so maybe it wouldn't be the president they need, but the one they deserve.

Just something to keep in mind: while I don't expect Trump to be popular on this forum, you all need to be prepared to drop the subject if someone complains. Politics is one of those super-sensitive topics that can very easily lead to a nasty shouting match.

Oh, what, did he say "Thanks, Obama!"? Tell your mom that has become a meme and lost all meaning.
Also, how racist it appears of her to be happy that the white man talked smack about the black man. :will:

Dear god, Trump is the real-life, probably-not-into-abuse-that-is-called-bondage version of Christian Grey!
No. No, we do not want to give Christian Grey access to military or anything, except a tiny cell, where he will rot.

Yeah I'd say some of his policies are dangerous and volatile, and some of his phrases could be better chosen. I heard him say something about France being safe if they'd had more guns, except France already guards its places with fully visible armed guards. Granted a metal concert probably wouldn't get that but still its victim blaming on a national scale and that's not ok. Then I hear he has a policy to stop all Muslim's from entering the country, which is pretty cruel and intolerant.

However it's just my opinion, his pro-gun stance might resonate particularly well with Americans as it's a promotion of something deeply ingrained in their culture.

Considering the shit I've seen people trying to convince others that something is racist (when it isn't), a white taking a stab at a black would be seen as racist. Also, hey, if it's between Obama (who may be doing mistakes) and Trump (Asshole Extraordinaire), I'd say stick with Obama.

I highly doubt Trump would ACTUALLY fix some problems in America. Like how waiters and waitresses are paid shit amount of money and NEED tips. How about you change it so you pay them a decent salary and make tipping OPTIONAL, the way it is in Germany?

I heard of this one place that pays the waitstaff either a decent hourly pay, or commissions on how much their customers bought, whichever is higher.

The latter is horrible. That just forces the employees to force more stuff onto the customer - and that makes for angry customers, who refuse to buy more. Which ultimately also gives off a bad reputation.

No it doesn't I actually think that's pretty reasonable. The point is the last part "whichever is higher" the fact its optional allows the employees the ethical choice in the matter.

When you compare it to businesses like Dominos Pizza who do mystery callers to ensure you are up selling to a customer I think that practice actually sounds very good. Plus there will be the occasional shift where you by chance take a large order and get a bonus for it even if you don't upsell.

I can say with no sense of hyperbole that if Trump were to become President of the United States, I'd leave. Hell, I already want to see the world, so why not just live somewhere else where I am more certain that the country wouldn't become some quasi-fascist oligarchy? As many people have already pointed it out, his toxic rhetoric towards Muslims and Mexicans in particular is chillingly similar to Antisemitism in Nazi Germany. With this sort of rhetoric in combination with his idiotic fiscal policies that would plunge the economy into tatters, it's be in the interest of Americans to become more educated on politics, particularly on areas such as campaign financing and its destructiveness. That, however, is easier said than done, especially considering the influence that money has on politics and in mainstream media who wouldn't broach the subject of money in politics with a ten-foot pole.

Alright, so after about two months of trying to get into politics, I'm out again. This is the second time in my life I've tried, and unlike the last time where I allied myself with the left, I went for the right.

What I took away from this the most is that both sides try to rule you with fear. The left wing does this by labeling any opinion that deviates from their ideals as bigoted, racist, sexist, or whatever word ending with -ist or -phobic that they made up that day. They'll threaten to cast you out and lynch you (metaphorically, of course).
The right wing will make you fear people you don't know. Other ethnicities and religions are different from them, and that's scary. While they may be right in some areas (the hot topic this time around is Islam), it sure as hell isn't an excuse to treat them with total disdain. I found myself getting bitter and angry, so I stopped.

Of the two I consider the left to be the worst of the two evils, but that may be influenced by them holding power at this time. For example, in my country of Canada, our Prime Minister has already given away over $3 billion to other countries for climate change (apparently we were supposed to be in a massive deficit from our previous conservative leader), and spent over $80 million on refugees, or as I see it, importing more voters, since they immediately get full citizenship. But hey, it's 2015.

As for the US, I think Cruz or Carson are your best bets. Trump only as a last result to keep Sanders and Clinton out.

Must be gruelling getting into politics like that, but I'm surprised I'll admit.
I thought people going into politics would have a certain 'conviction' for one side. Their beliefs would align and they'd feel comfortable with the policies and practices of that side. Rather than choosing the other side because one just didn't work for them.

Did you not have strong personal feelings yourself on the matter? I have a friend who is trying to get into politics himself and he can't stop talking/complaining about his work and the important effects of it.

This is why I overall don't care about politics - they lie through their mouth and talk out of their ass. Not to mention, they devil-ize anyone who is against them. I read that a Bernie Sanders would be a good candidate and some of the things listed were things I would like to see (Pro-proper-Gun-Control, ie. no, you will not get a motherfucking bazooka to go hunting; proper wage for anyone working in a retail field - meaning they'd finally pay waiters and waitresses enough that tipping goes back to being optional and not a fucking obligation) but then they mentioned he'd legalize marijuana and he lost me. (I don't care if he puts fucking taxes on it.) Medically needed, only if it's an absolutely painful case, but recreationally? No. Just... no.

But, of course, being in Germany and not being allowed to vote in America, anyway, it doesn't matter.

To the scanning team handling my favorite shojo manga, thank you for all your hard work so far. But if you're gonna be asses about how you release your work then just DROP THE GODDAMN SERIES FOR GOD'S SAKE. I understand why you release chapters the way you do now, but you're antagonizing a lot of people, not to mention making yourselves a loooot unreachable to the innocent readers. Many of the people I've talked to have decided to just stop reading the manga altogether when you made this decision because it's too much of a hassle. Then you're gonna make these ranty pity-effect posts on FB about how scanlating is a hard work effort, and people are not appreciative - which, although true, actually make me hate you more. I, too, clean manga for another group, so I know how hard it is. Yet our group does not make efforts to hide our releases (ie make them difficult to download). Another group I'm friends with put up full releases for two weeks THEN take them down. So no, I don't buy your bullshit excuse for releasing your chapters the way you do now.

You say that you do not owe your readers anything as a scanning group. So if I were you, just stop scanning that series. Dropping the project now will greatly relieve you of your undue stress from your ungrateful backstabbing readers in the long run. Besides, many other groups will be willing to pick it up again for scanning, as the series is a popular one. Personally I'll be sad to see you go, but trust me, it's the better decision in the long run.

.

I feel better after letting that out. Thank God for this thread.

Out of curiosity, which manga are you referring to?

Like I said before, I ended up with the right because the left wasn't working for me. At least the right can argue the left's claims with logic and reason, while the left can only debate with appeals to emotion.

I ended up like your friend for a while. All I did was complain and hardly offered any solutions. That's why I stopped. I suppose when I'm 40 I'll understand, but for now I find politics insufferable.

But I can't ignore what's going on in my own country. As I mentioned before, my country's Prime Minister has been in office for over a month and he's spent billions, not even a cent of which have been to benefit Canadians.

I see what the effect the left/liberals/democrats are having, particularly at universities, with their safe spaces and affirmative action and dislike for free speech, and I feel like I need to stop that.

Universities hate free speech? I thought they were the paradise of free-thinking people. :eh?: Sorry, I just woke up suddenly from a nap, so my brain isn't quite revved up yet.

That's what they were supposed to be, then people started demanding trigger warnings and banning words meant for everyday usage that they deem "offensive" and getting angry over Halloween costumes.

I am offended by the word 'salsa'. Ban it. I might end up running amok at college, because nobody listened to what I - a singular, stupid person - said.

If this has already happened, goes to show how overly sensitive people are being raised today. And on the topic of gun-control (or guns on civilians in general), I do not buy the whole 'for protection of terrorist attacks' excuse. I'm not scared of terrorist attacks. I'd be more scared of knowing I am walking around in public, surrounded by civilians with guns in every purse or pocket.

Hmm I would argue that the "emotion" of the left is largely connected to humanity and that a heavy focus on reason and logic can overlook that at times but I don't know anything about the situation so eh.

Though it is fascinating though how politics can differ from country to country. It seems your left is striving to impede free speech from what I can tell whereas in my country it is the right that are working to reduce human rights for people.

What country is it if you don't mind me asking?

I really hate that my dad keeps lying to my mom.
"We can stay at my mom's house."
"We have until the day after Christmas."
"I've been giving my mom some money to hold for me while I look for places."

- We can't.
- We don't.
- You didn't.

Lately I've been so aggravated with him. Daniel and I are the ones looking for places while he just worries about what his "girlfriend" sees him as. I don't like her. He's never even met her and all she wants is money anyway. He keeps giving her money AND she has his credit card info and she splurges almost every day. I don't eat for days at a time because we don't have money and the little money we DO have has to be put away or used as gas money yet he says nothing when she spends $40 on Dominos. I'm just so done with everything.
We might have to give away all 3 of our dogs if we don't find a place by this weekend and I'm just so stressed out that he's done nothing but complain. He has a friend that can help us and I ask him to text him and he's all "I don't want to bother him." It's not bothering. We need fucking help.
Ugh...

My country is Canada. I don't know how it is in Europe, but in North America, particularly the U.S., political correctness has gone way too far.
