Honestly? If I played a game and learned that what I did flat out removed ANY chance for me to get an ending (or something else important), I wouldn't call that an experience. I'd be pissed as fuck and call that a huge, annoying flaw in the game. You shouldn't HAVE to delete your save file and any memory of the game off your computer/console, just so you can actually 100% the game and not be told, "No, no, I remember your face. Not letting you do this."

It's the same as putting a self-imposed challenge into the game, just to get some proper difficulty out of it. The player shouldn't have to restrict themselves in order to be 'allowed' to get everything in the game.

Hahaha its not supposed to vea popular choice, it takes power from the player to give actual consequence to your decision (as actually even deleting and reinstalling the game doesn't fix the issue).

The General is also....exaggerating the extent to how it affects the game. You can still see the ending but a tiny bit is altered rather than cutting it off entirely.

Spoiler: Undertale
Also you have to really go out of you way to get that ending, and the game does everything it can to stop you from getting it and warns you several times to turn back before it's too late.

Tales Of Symphonia. It's my first time playing one of the Tales games, and I absolutely suck at it! I got a game over on the guards in front of the temple at the beginning of the game, then once I beat them, I died to the boss with the mace and hammer! I guess I'm just not good at these types of games.

I hope you didn't try to defeat Vidarr - Hammer Dude - before Kratos joined you. Then again, I think you can only prevent Kratos from automatically arriving during that battle through a glitch only available on NG Plus...

Symphonia takes a bit to get the controls down. Especially since it lacks free run, which most Tales games have had since. I'm decent, but nowhere near where I've seen other players in. Like, Soloing Abyssion? Hehe. No. :ron:

I started Pokémon Y and am doing a Wondertrade-Nuzlocke.

I switched to Collette right before that battle, as I decided to try out the other characters. I forgot to heal, so I died almost immediately and had to wait for my AI controlled partners to beat him for me. :payne:

Finished the first scenario of Roommania #203 (DreamCast). Very interesting game with a much better story than I had expected. You play a spirit or something like that who watches over Negi, a student. It's your task to bring some drama to his life, but you can only 1) move things in his room while he's out or 2) make subconcious suggestions to him while he's in the room. You're given tasks with cryptic descriptions, and it's up to you to fulfill them within the three minutes you usually each day. For example, an early task is "When Nature Calls", and you have to figure out that you need to make Negi drink a lot to make him go to the toilet. But basically, you're just peeking into someone's room the whole game.

There are four different scenarios (it splits early in the game) and as expected from DreamCast-era Sega, these stories can be quite surprising. I got Scenario #1, which was a very touching drama story about the kid next door. But I also got glimpses of another scenario, which appears to be something like a spy thriller.

First of all, get Lloyd down decently, since you do have moments where you have to play as him. Solo. Then you can try out others. Especially since you'll have to, if you want the Arena titles and weapons. Though the weapons don't unlock until pretty much the end of the game.
For another, don't you get, like, 1 Life Bottle in the beginning?

Other than Investigations 2 and Dual Destinies, I'm also playing Professor Layton Miracle a Mask, Mega Man & Bass, Undertale, and Tri Force Heroes. Not to mention a bunch of games I'm in the middle of but haven't played in a while.

I'm also probably going to get more games for Christmas, so I don't know when I'll finish any of this stuff.

-Sm4sh, cuz it is pretty much one of those games you can chug inbetween here and there.
-Samurai Warriors 4-2: It simply is too enjoyable, to fuck up a bunch of lowlife-dudes with the most ridiculous attacks.
-Batman Arkham City: I prefer its way of handling Challenge Maps way more than Knight, tho I play that one occasionally as well.
-Monster Hunter 4U: Mostly for 2-3 random hunts, just 'cause Charge Blade is such an enjoyable weapon.
-Forcing myself to: Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, I got X waiting for me, but my stubborn mind tells me, not to start the new one before finishing the old one

That's all I can think of, also, for Christmas I am gonna get either Just Cause 3 or Fallout 4.

Haha you are in the same situation as me.

I'm working on Xenoblade original and X simultaneously.

Glad to see you back and hunting on 4U again though :D

Also with the PS4 coming and being followed up with fallout 4 my time is going to be sparse.

Eh? It's been my go-to-game ever since it released. After reaching HR 999 and pretty much got 90% of the weapons, there ain't really that much to do. If you ever wanna play, though, you can hit me up.

After a quick look in a walkthrough for Xeno, I learned that I got like 5 more chapters, so I am somewhat more motivated to continue.

I assume they meant Xenoblade Chronicles X as that game is chapter based.

Roommania #203 got my DreamCast in a good mood or something, because it finally managed to read a certain section of my Shenmue II disc 1 (it refused to load the South Carmain Quarter during the Four Wude quest several times), so now I'm playing Shenmue II. Still one of the best games I've ever played. This is the first time I play through the Japanese version though: I have played the European DreamCast version (Japanese voices, English subtitles) and the XBox version (English dub + subtitles) before.

Moderarately. It's a game I've been wanting to play for years, and we know that Suzuki has planned all the chapters of the complete Shenmue saga already, and that a lot of necessary research/writing was already done back in the days, so the project itself is not built from scratch and it can be seen as a continuation of the previous games. On the other hand: both Shenmue and Shenmue II were really fantastic games because of the enormous scale accompanied by a rarely seen eye for details (picking up all the objects in the first game!), and I doubt that can be recreated in this time and age for the budget they have. Also, I think Suzuki already stated that Shenmue III will not complete the story, so that's a bit worrying, considering the time between II and III :P

Both Shenmue games were really amazingly designed games for the time. And I only just realized, but consider: these games were printed on GD-roms (1GB)! That's just about 1/3 larger than a normal CD, like the PlayStation used. Yet the difference in scale in basically everything (graphics, audio, size of the game) is immense.

Oh, but one problem I know have with Shenmue II: because I imported my Shenmue I save file, I arrived quite early in Hong Kong (Shenmue II). Which means I'll have to wait more than a month of game time to do the Fangmei sidequest (takes place on a certain day). But if I didn't import my file, I would have very little time to do the Fangmei quest, as the default start date is just a few days before the deadline, and you need to get a lot of things done in that time...

Currently playing freemium the Pokémon Picross game. Unfortunately, I blew through the picrites too quickly and will have to depend on daily training for a while. Either that or take the $11.50 that's been sitting in my eShop account since I purchased DD's DLC and get a few hundred picrites. I can get my picross fix on the internet for free, so I don't think I'll be doing the latter.

I have been eyeing the Xenoblade 3DS port for a while now, too, so that's probably next on the list.

I've been playing Xenoblade Chronicles X lately. I've completed Chapter 4, but now need to do sidequests and level up some more before the game will let me continue to Chapter 5. Just as well; I could use some more levels. I just wish the collection missions weren't around (or I had a guide that told me where I could find everything). One of the few things I hated about Xenoblade Chronicles was having to run around in search of collectibles (I could have sworn it was supposed to be spelled with an "a," not an "i") that always had an X% chance of spawning at particular locations.

Yeah, from my experience, the collectible sidequests are garbage. I keep them around, but I don't go actively do them. If I happen to complete them, good, but I don't go out of my way for them. They're just there in case I happen to complete while doing other things.

At least XC had the trade system so you could always get what you needed provided you had the valuable collectible. This one just has the squad tickets which let you buy monster parts.

Then again I did complete a quest for an NPC which discussed a machine to put Miranium in and get materials out so maybe that's it? Eh time will tell I wasn't tutorialised on anything about that.

Finished Sakura Wars 2 (DreamCast). A port of one of the Saturn's biggest hits (and one of SEGA's best selling franchises that isn't called Sonic). In the west, only Sakura Wars 5 was released, but that game features a completely different cast from the first 4 games. It's been years since I played the original SW, but SW2 is a decent, if a bit uninspired sequel. Like always, gameplay consists of both a dating sim/adventure part and a SRPG part. Girls with higher affinity get stat boosts in the SRPG mode, so you usually try to be as nice as possible to every girl in the adventure mode (though eventually, you'll have to make a choice for one person). The SRPG part is pretty simple (grid-based with limited choices), but the maps were a bit more challenging this time compared to the first game, if I remember correctly. At least, I can't remember the first game having many special conditions like having to protect designated targets or only allowing you one action per turn (so no walking and attacking in the same turn).

I ended up with Maria by the way, who was also the heroine in my play of the first game. I also have Sakura Wars 3 somewhere, but I think I'll wait a bit before I play that (playing games in the same series one after another often makes them less enjoyable)

Played the first chapter of Sakura Wars 3 (2001, DreamCast). The opening is absolutely fantastic (animated by Production I.G). The new setting of Paris is also surprisingly fun. Funnily enough, this game reminds me of Dai Gyakuten Saiban, as SW3 also has a Japanese protagonist going to study abroad in a metropolis in Europe in the early 1900s. I'll need some time to get used to the new battle system though: the first two SWs were grid-based SRPGs, but SW3 has a system similar to Valkyria Chronicles (or to be exact: Sega used elements from SW in VC), with an action gauge. Button configuration changed a lot too compared to SW2, so every other turn I accidently heal team mates who don't need healing or charge up my special attack even though all I wanted to do was just open a menu or cancel an action...

And knew which NPC had the collectible in question and had a high enough affinity with their area and sought them out during the right time of day.

Which is worlds better than hunting for a particular enemy, defeating it, praying to the Random Number God that it will drop the item you're after, and then repeating the process until you had enough of the item (though my memory is that some monster items could be bartered for).

I'm now done with Chapter 6. Right now, I'm mainly seeking out recruitable party members and knocking out some sidequests. I recently completed a mission called "My Dream."

Spoiler: "My Dream" mission
I really wish the game allowed me to turn the Murderess in. Seriously, what the fluorine uranium carbon potassium were the developers thinking, forcing the player character to let an attempted murder go unreported!?

Messing around in Street fighter 4 3DS in trying to find a character that works for me, so far i like using Sakura quite a bit.

Autocorrect doesn't seem to like you. I presume you meant "Skell?"

I completed the test for it fairly recently. I'm still partial to fighting on foot, but that's probably because I haven't had much time to equip my Skell with high-quality gear. I also read something about "Skell insurance." I'll have to read up on that, considering how much those things cost.

Yeah, the Skell missions were fairly easy and quick to complete. I haven't gotten to do anything with the Skell yet, and I only just obtained it and quit. Yet another thing to learn, but bright side, at least I feel now that I've mastered how to do Ground combat and what all the menu stuff means. XD My gosh did this game feel way too overwhelming at the beginning.

Yeah I meant Skells xP

Though I'm pretty sure skell insurance is the number of times you can salvage your skell. After that I think its destroyed and you need a new one.

Should check out Steamworld Heist if you can it's another great e-shop title with some cool turn-based strategy ricochet gameplay.

Finished Sakura Wars 3 ~Is Paris Burning?~ (DreamCast). Great entry in the SW series, which does a very good job at introducing a new cast, while keeping the cast of the original two games also revelant. The SRPG-part of the game is similar to Codename S.T.E.A.M. (from what I understand from the demo), but the bosses are all very weak, so you'll only get in trouble because of the occassional special field conditions, rather than because of enemy fire (Sakura Wars is basically half dating sim, half SRPG, but neither part is really difficult. The emphasis lies on its characters and the story).

Now to find a copy of Sakura Wars 4 for the DreamCast, the last of the games with Ogami as the protagonist (with the only Sakura Wars released in the West, Sakura Wars V, featuring a new protagonist).

Playing through Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon right now. The last Mystery Dungeon game I'd played before was Explorers of Time, and Super Mystery Dungeon is certainly reminding me why I enjoy the series so much. The guild members are certainly a bunch of fun personalities, and talking to random townspeople is funny as well (my favorite bit of townsperson dialogue was when I walked up to an Unown Y and it said, "I'm Y. Don't ask why. I don't know why."). The only thing I miss is the way to recruit team members - I get that the Connection Orb is much more streamlined than previous games' way of handling it, but I wish there was some way I could recruit the Pokemon I run into in dungeons. I dunno, maybe I'm just a stick-in-the-mud who can't handle change from previous games. :gymshoe:
