Would help if you could post what the error actually is, otherwise you're basically saying. "it doesn't work, fix it." and then he has no idea what it is.

Wow, it doesn't even feel like a month since Case 4 was released. It's so crazy.

Hello. Scent here. I've been a fan of Contempt of Court even since the first case was released, and actually waited for the release of the second case, haha. I was even spooked through the entirety of the Haunted Turnabout. xD I also like the latest two entries: Turnabout in the Snow and the Ensnared Turnabout. They're the most enigma-heavy AA turnabouts I've ever experienced. Even when speaking on the grounds of fan-made cases.

As to who I think Hemlock is...
Spoiler:
• I don't think it's Maya, it's too farfetched.

• Maybe it's a character form the first AAI, seeing as how Aculius (?) is the remnant of the Cohdopian smuggling ring.

• It's Vinny. Like another member stated: he seemed too much of an important character to be left behind.

• It could be Detective Smith's other personality. I dunno, just a random guess, seeing as how John, Jack Crane's alter ego, was originally the Split Turnabout's villain. :basil:

• Maybe Snow also has a split personality...?

• I doubt it's the Chief of Police. There's something about him that inclines me to think that he won't be more of an important character than he is right now. :v

• Maybe it's Greisen? Perhaps he was an influential figure in the Cohdopian smuggling ring, and both Vex and Smith know, and he's keeping tabs on 'em to make sure they don't ruin his other life as a stereotypical detective.

Here are some more thoughts;
Spoiler:
• Vex says that the Boogeyman/Hemlock is "anyone, and no one" (or something along those lines). Wright says that the Boogeyman is someone that exists only in the minds of children because they were told he exists. What if Cardi, as the author, wants us to believe that the Boogeyman/Hemlock is a specific individual, when in reality, he isn't? What if the Boogeyman is everyone being paranoic and keeping tabs on one another? Snow keeping tabs on Smith; Smith keeping tabs on Snow; both keeping tabs on Vex; in summation: everyone watching everyone's every movement and, subconsciously, they have created a character that is a figment of their paranoic imagination? Contempt of Court's villain could turn out to be something along the lines of Turnabouts of the Father's Leviathan: it is, and it isn't an existing character.

• I can't remember, but is Redd White still alive in this game? If so, then it's possible he's Hemlock. Maybe he cooperated with the Cohdopian smuggling ring to get more influence outside the city's perimeter. And we know he has a tendency of wiring phones, and has access to information.

• "Sherlock Hemlock" is a Muppets character. Muppets. A show about puppets. Everyone is being played like a puppet. Perhaps this puppet show isn't the production of a single individual, but of everyone...? As in: there isn't a puppeteer pulling the strings: the puppets are each causing an outrage and they themselves are the show.

• Hemlock are also various species of poisonous plants. Everyone thinking that Hemlock exists is actually making an imaginary, poisonous plant grow.

Spoiler:
I actually thought something along the lines of your first theory, but with Vulper being the delusional one. But then in case 4 it is revealed that someone whose surname is Hemlock exists and the police are aware of their existence, so I'm not too sure about that. Besides, that seems sorta anti-climatic, for a game where the main mystery is the identity of the villain. Although it's still an interesting possibility to think about...Sadly, these is all pointless considering how it has been confirmed that Maya is the main villain of the game by a very serious an convincing theory some time ago (I mean, it included small bombs and Maya being a man, how could it possibly NOT be true?).

Spoiler:
What if the Hemlock in the police records is dead, and a "new" Hemlock has taken his name? This "New!Hemlock" could be our fictional character. Or Hemlock could very much be someone. But I doubt it's Vex. Or maybe Vex has a split personality. Vex got his Kaptain Krump from the Boogeyman as a parting gift. Vex is on death row. Maybe that's why the Boogeyman parted way with him: he's gonna die.

Or maybe Smith is the one with a split personality. I mean, he was scared when that elementary school teacher revealed her recording of Smith's voice. But after the trial, Smith seemed indifferent. What if Smith knows that he has a split personality, which is the Boogeyman, and wants to be found guilty in order to protect everyone from suffering more of Hemlock's mischiefs?

The Aculius card could be a clue. The one that planted it on Nick had to be someone close to him. Maybe it was Greysen? Smith? Or what if Greysen isn't an Interpol agent, but a mob from a competing smuggling ring to Aculius? Or what if Aculius is trying to replace the old smuggling ring, but there's resistance form the old smuggling ring?

Spoiler: Conflict of Interest Case 5 and CoC Case 4 spoilers
I truly have no idea, the suspect pool is small, and they all have compelling reasons they could be the killer. It's the same with Conflict of Interest, the suspect pool is small, and even though we're a whole DAY further in than CoC, I still have ZERO clue who the killer could be.

Spoiler: Conflict of Interest Full Game Spoilers
I honestly don't think that the Rivales leader is going to be an old character. He was in court during the past case that we saw in Case 5, so surely his face is known by several people. My real question is, how the heck did he manage to kill Cody Hackins? Or if not him, who did it?

And what's gonna happen to my pearls ropfa pls update soon

Spoiler: Contempt of Court Full Game Spoilers
This one's a bit more interesting since no one really seems to know who Hemlock could be, or if they do then they won't tell us. The theory about "the Boogeyman" being made up by everyone keeping tabs on each other is freaking brilliant, no doubt about it. I never thought about that. But it doesn't explain who attacked Brisbane or who was clearly shown to be keeping tabs on Nick in the intro to Case 4 (which was a freaking amazing intro btw, at first I had no idea what was going on but when I started seeing the lines from the intro in the game I freaked out. That was chilling.)

More importantly, we need to place bets on who's gonna come out first. Considering that Ropfa posted that he was almost done with the case not too long ago, I wouldn't be surprised if he's hoping to hand it out to beta testers sometime this or next week. Yet we could get waylaid with a surprise update on this one, it's been quite a while since the OP was updated. My bet's on Ropfa though since it's a bit safer.

Yeah, that theory explains the "he is everyone, and he is no one" line, which doesn't really make sense with any of the other theories, but there are too many instances where Hemlock seems to have done something by himself that makes the theory unlikely. Then again, I remember Cardiovore making a post saying something about the story being reaaaally complicated, so who knows what might be revealed in then next half? There are a lot of mysteries that have not been solved yet, so we can't really be sure.

Well, it's certainly been a long time. I played this for the first time when only Case 1 and 2 were done. I am not sure if you worked on Case 3 then, but I remember that back then it was still one case. I now replayed the first 2 cases and also played the third one. I still think this game could rival the official ones. These 3 cases were so damn good, even though with that HORRIBLE CLIFFHANGER you just notice that it was intended as one case instead of 2. I haven't played the demo of case 4 yet because I want to wait for the full release, so except for a few bugs here and there (like Vick Barrows having his name shown instead of ??? in his very first textbox in case 2) it's a great game and here is hope that you will finally finish this whole game one day soon. :0

One thing, I still think you should use puns for the character names. I vividly remember asking you back then if any of your characters had puns like the original ones and your answer was no. So, yeah. Minor complaint. xD

So, yeah. Minor complaint. xD

I think not having many characters with a pun on their names adds to the dark atmosphere this game seems to have. I actually like that.

I mean, I don't want puns being like "Kil Lerr" is the killer

I would want subtle ones

The best name puns I can think of is the Piper brothers, who happen to be plumbers.
Their names? Walter, Steven and Dwaine.
(Water, Steam, Drain)

However, this is pretty off topic.

In other topics, it looks like the winner of the nonexistent but extremely existent race of "who gets their game finished first?" is gonna be Ropfa. Do look forward to the conclusions of both.

Yep, Ropfa is definitely gonna be the one who releases his finished game first.

But good news! There has been a burst of productivity lately and I'm almost finished with Trial 2. Then there'll be a final investigation and final trial to follow.

As always, loving the theories. Can't elaborate though. :hobohodo:

All those backgrounds I had you draw for me and times I had you beta-test were really an elaborate ruse to delay your progress on your own game. You never saw it coming!

And all the advice I've given for this final case was actually intentionally bad, so that your final product will be of noticeably worse quality than mine. You have fallen into my trap!

Psh, ropfa, you can't take all the credit, I'm the one who hired Shelly de Killer to assassinate him, unfortunately he was a bit busy in a forest at the time...

I know. But I think the colors on this sprite look a bit more vibrant. Must be because of the additional shading in order to reflect the infuriating blaze atop him, lol. :godot: But I like it. And the animation is running smoothly. *insert thumbsup smiley here*

Not quite, still got a lot of sprites left to do.
Not even being sarcastic, end of the year is my absolute "right, you HAVE to finish CoC this year!" deadline. Going at full steam ahead right now.

That's what Tinypic does: it changes a PNG extension to a JPG one for some reason.

Ooooooo yes.
