With it in Japanese, plus the name of the country in English... I've realize that I, and many others probably, have said Kurain wrong..

Khura'in/Kurain = Koo-rah-in

... I've been saying Koo-rain for so long, so learning this was an experience.

I suspect that's why it was respelled, although it's pretty much a given that one of the characters will say it in a voiced cutscene.
Actually, in the trilogy, if you examine a scroll in either 2-2 or 3-2, Phoenix will read the Japanese as "Ku... ra... in." So that clues you in on how to pronounce it.

I know in Japanese, both the village and the country spell "Kurain" differently, but yeah, this new spelling in English is trying to be more phonetic.
I still say "Koorain village" though.

That, and I say "May-a" instead of "My-ah" like her name's actually pronounced. I can't say "My-ah", That's the name of an Australian shopping chain "Myer" LMAO plus I know a "May-a".

This is actually interesting just how different people interpret how things are pronounced XD
Do you say "Grossberg" as "Gross" like "ew, that's gross!", or like "Cross", just starting with a "G". For some reason I'd read it as the latter. When I started playing (I was 14 when I first played AA) I would think "he's not gross" (But now I know it's in reference to his weight LOL)

I've probably completely botched the entirety of this game's names XD And now they just stick

LOL I think "gross" also means large (Like gross domestic product and such). But yeah, that's interesting. So I was saying it the right way all along? (Cross with a G?)

I pronounce Grossberg like Stephen Grossberg. No Cross.

Is it really "Gross" like "cross"? I never even though of pronouncing it that way!

Mind blown.

I used to pronounce it like the German words "groß" (big) and "Berg" (mountain) for quite a time, but that simply sounds stupid. Also he doesn't really look like a "big mountain" to me, or at least just a little.

I've pronounced literally every Ace Attorney word wrong, instead of "Psych-ee" locks, I say "Psych Locks" I say "Gramarye" as "Grammar-ee", "Meh-tis" instead of "Mee-tis" and so many others, Ace Attorney needs a pronunciation chart.

Those are correct. Gramarye can be debatable, but it's without a doubt, 100% Psyche Locks

Have always pronounced it "Gram-ear" in the few times I have said the words aloud.

Let's hope the anime English dub doesn't take long! Will clear all of this up.

Personally, I've always said Kurain as 'Cure-Ein'. On the Gramarye subject, I say it as 'Gram-Air'. I also ended up saying 'Psych' when talking about the Psyche-Locks, but noticed my error when Phoenix said something like, "I can see the locks on your Psyche.", though I personally usually say Pyscho-Locks, since I think it sounds cooler. I also once made the 'May-a' mistake, but my dad told me it was 'My-ah', so that fixed it. I also at first said :athena: 's last name as 'Cakes', which was pretty silly.

Athena Cakes.

That is what she is called from this point on.

Any objections? :athena:

New words I didn't know had alternate pronunciations!
Athena Cakes is definitely happening now! :thena-hair:
And I always said Gramarye as "Grammar-yay" (And I'd say "Atroquinine" and "Gavinners" as "Atroquine" and "Gavin-eers" for the longest time XD)

I'm not alone in this pronunciation! I met someone named "Maya" pronounced "May-a",so I've stuck to that XD

After listening to the stream, Hsu pronounced Khura'in as "Koo-Ryne" rather than "Koo-Rah-In". I wonder if it'll actually be pronounced like this in the main game :yogi:

I'd trust Janet's pronunciation as she made up all the English names XD

I'm really confused now. Is Kurain pronounced Koo-Ryne, or is it Koo-Rah-In? Or Koo-Rain? Cure-Ain?

TBH if you want to know, maybe re-watch the livestream and copy how Janet says it. I don't think it matters how you pronounce it though, it shouldn't affect your understanding of the game (Unless there's another "Hugh O'Connor" -> "You're a goner" moment XD)
