Gall bladder instincts are typically more accurate than ones from the spleen. That's all I'll say on that.

Spoiler: explanation
It doesn't really change a whole lot plotwise, but it gives somewhat of a small purpose to the scene, rather than it just being Nick and Maya bantering about cleaning the room. Also, there's a small mention of "five years ago." I was planning to add in some foreshadowing for the Pearl plot, but... couldn't really come up with anything that sounded good, so I went with this.

I think in general it's just better than the original, but I'm looking for feedback.

Personally, I think the alterations are just fine as they are.
Spoiler: Spoilers, maybe?
Phoenix's mention of "five years ago" will leave new players wondering what exactly happened, preparing them for the gut punch in the records room.

Spoiler:
But there were TWO gut punches in the records room!

Though due to accidental spoilers, I don't think my gut was actually punched in too severely for either.

So, in addition to working on T-Unknown, I've also been updating the past cases. I wasn't really expecting it this time, but I actually updated The Rogue Turnabout around as much as I did the last round. If you haven't played that case recently, I'd recommend doing so once the final release comes out, because I've significantly raised the quality of several sections in it. TRT was my first attempt at a fancase and it really shows, but I've managed to slap quite a few Band-aids onto what might've otherwise been a gaping wound. It's still not perfect, but it's certainly better than it used to be. I also made a few changes to A Turnabout Is Worth a Thousand Words and Turnabout on the Web.

For those interested, here are the changes you can look forward to:

Spoiler: space saver
Art changes:
-Changed Winston Payne's sweating sprite so that the animation
is continuous.
-Upgraded Mark Watters' sprites
-Upgraded Obadiah Williamson's sprites
-Upgraded the quality of one background in T-CON

Dialogue changes:
-Added some screen flashes and shakes to dialogue in ATIWATW
-Added a few scattered lines throughout ATIWATW for the
purpose of introducing characters or gameplay elements, in
the nature of a "true" prologue case
-Edited roughly a third of the dialogue in the opening to TRT
-Added some inner thoughts from Nick after Cody's psyche-lock
shows up in TRT, so that the scene serves as the official
introduction of the magatama's power into COI, and not just
as some silly humor.
-Tweaked a few minor lines here and there in TRT to improve
writing quality
-Edited TRT so that you only find one blackmail note. This
involved some extensive changes to the script in the second
trial, including rewriting much of one cross-examination.
-Changed some dialogue near the end of TRT's second trial
-Changed part of one conversation with Obadiah in TRT
-Added some more slight foreshadowing for TITU in TRT
-Added a few lines of dialogue after the killer's reveal in
TRT
-Added some screen flashes and shakes to dialogue in TRT
-Added some screen flashes and shakes to dialogue in TOTW
-Added Nick's nametag after he finds the woman's computer in
TOTW
-Changed the standard "no response" dialogue for presenting
evidence to Edman Books
-Added a few emoticons into conversation with "SumthinSmellz"
-Changed the reported time/date for some events in TITU to
clear up inconsistencies

Interface updates:
-Edited multi-page evidence so that the evidence icon and
Nick's silhouette are visible under all pages in dual screen
mode

Bug/Error fixes:
-Fixed some parts in ATIWATW that would have the dialogue box
show up when there was no actual dialogue (during screen
shakes and shout effects, etc.)
-Fixed some bugs in the second testimony of TRT
-Fixed a bug in TOTW that created the possibility of receiving
two neighborhood maps
-Fixed a bug in TOTW that would briefly switch to Upper Middle
Street upon showing Maya the boombox
-Fixed a major bug in T-Unknown that would cause the game to
crash upon accessing the court record in specific sections
-Fixed a few large bugs in the perceive scenes of T-Unknown
-Prevented the nametag box from very briefly showing up when
psychelocks appear and break

Music changes:
-Replaced every single music track with "Light of the Seven" from
Game of Thrones

Miscellaneous:
-Fixed an incorrect step in the walkthrough for ATIWATW
-Changed the walkthrough and readme files to .pdf format
to enable easier reading for Windows players

Conflict of Interest is officially finished!

Yessir, the final case of Conflict of Interest is officially complete. Here are the download links for both Windows and Mac. As before, you should play the game with the version of Pywright that has been packaged with it, and please remember that COI is intended to be played in dual screen mode. Most other Pywright games should be able to work with this version, but Turnabout Substitution might need some tweaking.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/sgvoeddiebbsmlj/PyWright_0.989_Windows.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wbvzb9ww4c0xwob/Pywright_.989_Mac.zip

If you have already played the first half of the case, I have included an alternate "intro.txt" file to start a game. To use it follow these steps:

1 - Go into the Conflict of Interest game folder, then go into the Turnabout into the Unknown subfolder
2 - Find the files called "intro.txt" and "intro2.txt"
3 - Delete "intro.txt"
4 - Rename "intro2.txt" to "intro.txt"
5 - Start a new game

The new game will start you directly at the beginning of the new section.
(If you find any problems with this intro file, please let me know immediately.)

The game is designed to be played in dual screen mode. You will encounter several bugs in GBA mode.

I did a quick speed run of the case and the total time came to just over seven hours, with this second half being a little over half of that. That is, of course, assuming that you know exactly what you're doing and don't waste any time to search for flavor text. I would estimate that for most players the actual time would come out to closer to 10-12 hours. Fuandon's LP on Youtube appears to so far be on track with this estimate. For comparison, I did a speedrun of The Rogue Turnabout a few years back and it was *only* about five and a half hours. Needless to say, this case is absolutely gigantic, but you should've expected that from me by now.

One of my testers reported an odd bug that can cause all of the sprites in the game to disappear. From what I can tell, the issue seems to be with a line of code marked "skip text." This line of code appears nowhere in Conflict of Interest's script and it is something that you would have to add yourself. However, I do not recommend doing so, as it appears to have the potential to cause the aforementioned bug.

Another tester reported annoyingly long pauses between sentences in perceive. Nobody else has reported this and I have thus far been unable to figure out why this one person has experienced it. If this happens to you, please let me know so that I can compare your settings and see if that has anything to do with it.

As this is the last case in Conflict of Interest, I would like to finish here by thanking all the players for sticking with me and being patient. And also all the people who have helped me make this possible. If you've helped with the case and I've forgotten to mention you in the credits, just send me a message and I'll edit it. I hope to give everyone the credit they deserve for their work and I promise you it's not my intention to leave anyone out.

I couldn't possibly list everybody who's helped me in this thread, but here's a list for the ones warranting special mention:
Saluk and E.D.Revolution - For making and updating Pywright to its current state.
Nexuapex - For getting me started on learning Pywright and fixing bugs that were too complicated for me to handle myself.
OmegaVitaminC - Various help and advice, beta-testing, and for sticking with me on the project from the very beginning.
Cardiovore - Inspiration from Contempt of Court, background art (hire him if you've got the money), beta-testing, motivation to keep going.
DudeWithAMask - For being brutally honest during beta-testing and not letting me get away with nuthin'.
Darth Wiader - For various help and advice, beta-testing, and always going above and beyond what I expected of him.
Fuandon - Truth be told, I don't think COI would be as solid as it is today if it hadn't been for his harsh criticism of The Rogue Turnabout. The quality of my cases has improved greatly over the years and I think this played a large role in it.

Thank you all. As always, please leave your comments and thoughts.

Spoiler: Bug, maybe?
I got to the MN-6 flashback (Part 2), hit the Court Record button, and...it's back. I'll try again, but the game crashed when I clicked it.

EDIT: I got around it by doing the Page 1 of evidence thing, but the fact that it's possible still exists.

OK thanks... everything looks fine in the folder except no .exe file... there's a PyWright_run.app folder but I don't know how I would run that.

Here's a link for working Windows version with an executable PyWright:

https://mega.nz/#!XwZywBZK!gloehIZEj8Y8 ... ZAIqLOt6M4

It should contain the whole final version of game from Ropfa's link along with a fixed core.py file, so the court-record bug should not appear again (please report if you encounter it). I included also all those altered c-r graphics that I posted earlier, so please ignore my post above.

(I'm currently not planning to upload it somewhere else than MEGA, sorry. Maybe Ropfa will add it to his MediaFire account.)

Holy shit, while I can believe it, it's been a long, amazing goddamn ride. There's nothing I could say that wouldn't be an understatement, so I'll just say "Kudos, Ropfa!" :gant-clap:

I'm still on the first trial right now, so it might be a while before I finish it. Which means I should probably stay out of this thread for a while.

Congratulations on finishing the game!

Spoiler: Part 2
Quite the ending there. I was starting to have suspicions of Yossarian being Mendirez, but the letter and the general lack of a big villain stopped me from assuming it was him. Having Luciano be the big bad though was genius (And I guess I get some points for guessing correctly, even though I assumed Mendirez was the big bad.) Very solid way to end out the game.

Is anybody else having this? I used the same core file of Pywright that I used in the .zip that I gave to all of my beta-testers, so this really should not be happening.

What I did was copy the files of the new download over to the old version. I never updated it, so maybe it carried over from the old version? It did replace most of the files, but not all of them.
