There are other things to consider, too. Aside from the prices of the consoles (and the games, if you're picky), seeing which system has a more interesting line-up to you might be a good idea, though if there aren't more than a couple out at the moment, I'd recommend waiting to see how things go, at least until the end of the year.
I'm not going to tell you what you should or shouldn't buy, but make sure to know what's coming down the line before making a decision.

If you don't really enjoy nintendo franchises enough to base your whole library around them, don't get a Wii. If you don't own a lot of PS/PS2 games and the games scheduled for the PS3 don't excite you, don't get that.
Personally, I chose to get a 360 at launch and the thing basically sits on my shelf gathering dust. Well, the second one, anyway, since my first one melted it's motherboard and I had to get it replaced. Aside from Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon, and a few random games I rented here or there, 360 was probably the most 'uninformed' buy I made since it was on impulse. I chose the PS3 last year for potential, and because my gaming library consists mostly of RPGs and many of those are PS2, so I get plenty of use out of my PS3 now.
360 has an 'alright' online system, but I honestly don't know what I'm paying 50 dollars for. Downloading demos is fun, but I've never really bothered to buy anything on Xbox Live; I'm considering getting Symphony of the Night on the PS Network, but even then I'm not really all that interested--I already own it for the PS1.
Your best bet is to just go with what you want out of your system--the people you're asking here aren't the ones who have to live with the purchase afterwards if you regret it.

I'd say make a list of the types of games you like to play and go by that--for instance if you were to say 'JRPGs' I'd say PS3, since you can pick up the backlog of PS2 rpgs and also forthcoming RPGs.
After that I'd say go look at Gamestop or something and see what games come out and etc. and make your decision that way--while, for instance, I find Smash Bros. Brawl to be interesting, I have zero interest in other Wii titles so for now I'm not getting one. Go by your tastes in gaming, I'd say.

The PLAYSTATION 3...arrgh, the price is ridiculously expensive. (For a total of over $500, this is so worse than SNK's Neo Geo System which had the same expensive price)
If I had a Wii, I want to try out their VIRTUAL CONSOLE download service. They have lots of obscure titles...like Namco's Bravoman.

Yes but if you also look back, the cheapest/weaker systems have almost always won the console wars
Personally right now the 360 has the best games, but because you already own one, I'd say get a Wii, PS3 does have some great titles coming out soon, but most don't come till 2008 (that or they are now on multiple systems such as DMC4, GTA4, etc.). Wii atleast gets some AAA exclusives soon (MP3:C this month, SMG and SSBB in the winter, etc.).
The only 3 PS3 big exclusives are MGS4 and the FFXIII titles, and who knows if they will stay exclusives, Hideo Kojima wants MGS4 to be an exclusive...but he also said there would be no MGS3:S

Also, you can't really see it without HD, but the PS3 will smooth PS2 games, making them look much better than the do. I noticed it a lot when playing Tales of the Abyss.
I should also mention though that PS3's sold outside of the US, like in Europe, do not have the same backwards computability as the PS3s sold in the US--the US PS3s have chipsets, while EU PS3s use emulation, so there are higher chances of errors. Unfortunate, but true.

Hence, why I chose the Wii. I'm not ready to upgrade to "High Class Gaming" just yet. I like my games simple; with a little WiFi/OLMP (On-Line Multiplayer, lolz spontaneous acronym) on the side.

The N64 was more expensive then the PS, it was also graphically stronger, it just couldn't do FMV's without taking alot of space on the single cart. Also the PS2 was weaker then the Gamecube and Xbox, I never said 2nd and 3rd place followed this rule, just that the winner was usually the weaker/cheaper system.
Atari 2600 beat a crap load of systems, including the Atari 5200
NES beat Sega Master System
SNES arguably beat the Genesis
PSX beat the N64
PS2 beat the Xbox and Gcube
So yes, I can base that argument on past. Also the argument of MGS4 being crap on the 360 fails, its already been proven before with RE4 that a company can port a game from a stronger console (Gcube) to a weaker one (PS2) and still make a great looking game without losing much.

RE4 and MGS4 are completely different situations--Kojima has stated multiple times that the game requires the storage capacity of Blu-Ray, or at least something bigger than what is currently used on the market today. System power =/= storage capabilities, which is why the 360 'version' of MGS4 would have to be either downgraded considerably, or appear on at least 4 DVDs. Hell if anything RE4 is a worse comparison since it went from being a 2 disc game on the Cube to a 1 disc game (with more features) on the PS2, and looked arguably better despite the PS2 being 'weaker.'

Obviously not everything is going to be compatible--but most games are, and they continually try to update the firmware to play those games correctly. It's a nice step, unlike Xbox's 'You got enough games now shut up about it' stance.
