Maribelle nodded. "I do think that Cain had to have gotten through the secret passage on his own, I agree. I think he might've been helped by the killer visitin' the storage room before Cain, and proppin' the door open to help him along to where he was eventually killed."

I mean, not only must the victim be alone, but the killer must also have an opportunity to kill without alerting others, correct? The breakup of their group would help then."

Maribelle held up a finger. "Consider this-- the killer had ta, at a minimum, have the scream box remote on 'em at the time it was triggered, 'n' then had to, at some point after it was triggered, get it to the arcade. Also, at a minimum, the killer had to've see Cain enter the storage room, otherwise they'd have no idea when to trigger the scream box. That leaves Yuma, from the hallway, 'n' Damien, Aria, 'n' Simon in the cafeteria. No others could've, at least in my estimation, seen Cain enter the storage room, so the killer's gotta be one of those four."

She held up a second finger. "Now, at the time of the body-discovery announcement, the killer would've also had no way to get past Raymond to get the remote to the arcade. At that point, everyone begins to move. The cafeteria crew were together, and only a few steps behind Yuma. If any of those four would've hidden the remote in the arcade at that time, it's plum unlikely that it would've gone unnoticed. That means that between the time of the crime, and our discovery of the body, the killer couldn't have ditched the remote in the arcade. That means that the killer had to have had the remote on 'em at the time we all discovered Cain on the fourth floor."

She held up a third finger. "That leads to the inevitable conclusion that the killer had to've gotten rid of the remote while we were all investigatin'. But think o' where Damien, Aria, Simon, 'n' Yuma actually investigated. Simon 'n' Yuma were in the teacher's lounge-- there's no reason either of 'em would've gone to the second floor, 'n' certainly not without Damien 'r Veronica noticin'. Aria stuck with Ohishi to look at Cain's body. Only Damien 'n' Veronica, Raymond 'n me could've possibly passed by the arcade to get rid o' the remote. But I was outside the school at the time of the crime-- Ohishi can confirm that, and Raymond was on the second floor-- Yuma 'n' Aria can confirm that. We know Veronica didn't kill Cain, 'cause her discovery of the body triggerin' the announcement proves she wasn't the killer. That leaves Damien-- the only person who could've both seen Cain enter the storage room, AND ditch the remote in the arcade without arousin' suspicion."

Maribelle put her hand on her forehead.

"This is how it must'a happened.Way back before the second trial, Monokuma offered the would be victim a deal. They became his spy in exchange for becoming the fourth killer. They were granted RNG immunity and also had a secret passage in the store room grantin' them access to the fourth floor.

The third trial ends, and they need to spring into action. We split into groups to protect each other. The killer worked on breakin' us up first. They used some of that red potion and wrote a threatenin' message in Aria and Ohishi's showers. They stole mah ruby ring and hid it in their sock drawer, pretending like they were framed. Me and him had an argument, which he made sure Simon was around to record, like he did everything. Later that night, we all heard Ohishi and Aria screamin' at somethin', the red potion message. They said it was but a cockroach. The truth would've gotten them killed I imagine.

When Simon goes into the shower, the traitor sneaks out and steals his camera. The next mornin', they go into the store room to set things up. They gone ahead and used Simon's camera on the scream box, registering my scream. They take the remote activator, and place the box by the headmaster's office. They set the camera to replay our fight. right by the entrance of the secret passage. They leave it open a tad with a doorstop. Inaudible for anyone on the first floor, unless they had super hearin', like poor ole Cain did.

The killer then exited with tea, making Yuma an' everyone else think he just went to get some. He stationed in the cafeteria, allowing him full view of the store room. Aria an' Simon soon joined. Cain came later to fetch tea for Ohishi, something the killer predicted. Blind he may be, but he was still a gentlemen. With no Aria, he would eventually come to get Ohishi some tea. The killer had a view of the store room, and saw Cain enter.

Cain heard something through the walls, like fighting. The concerned Cain headed in that direction, feelin' his way around. He accidentally activated the passage. He went up the stairs right to the recording. The killer then activated the scream box. Cain panicked and rushed over to the sound. He placed his hand on the head master's room door handle and...

After we'd all seen the body, the killer set off to investigate like the rest of us. He went to the arcade and pretended to discover the remote there. But alas, we saw right through that.

To be able to calculate exactly how long it would take Cain to reach the top of those stairs and to find the secret passage. It could only be someone with an impeccable sense of timing. The Ultimate Horologist, you, Damien Treynor!"

Why does it matter why it was Cain, how can anything matter at this point?" Like it had only a few times before now, his peaceful facade had fallen and was replaced unrestrained anger. "It could have been Cain, it could have been anyone, it's all the same! One of your worthless lives for mine, that's the way this game is played, and that's how I played it."

"I was planning to escape as soon as Chisami did Bud in, as soon as it became clear we really were in this nightmare situation. The bear offered me the chance to kill later instead of dying back then, so I took it! But now... but now!" He smacked the top of his podium with his hand. "All of that time, all of that planning, wasted! I put so many hours into pretending I got along with you all, and it was all! for! nothing!" The last words were each punctuated by more beatings on the poor podium.
