Bradley nodded in agreement "Even if the patient was still alive, they'd probably be showing far worse symptoms than any of us right now I'd be willing to bet. It can't be Ghost who is the cancer patient." He said with just the tiniest hint of fear.

“So that’s why…” Albert shakes his head, clearly surprised. “It all makes sense now. Ghost, man (or woman, whatever), I can at least confirm one thing for you now- you are the woman in this video. The very same person who mutilated her own face. I have no fucking idea why, and I’m not sure whether you’re the cancer patient as well, but I can definitely confirm you are that woman.”

Ghost steadfastly ignored Albert, not wanting to know. Instead she focused on the previous topic, and said, "I should add that everything I said was probably only my opinion. I still don't remember enough about myself to know how knowledgeable I really am about this sort of thing: it was only an informed guess. It's probably not my area of expertise."

"Why would...why would you do something l-like that?" Violet grimaced. "If you...d-did that to your face, were you like, trying to hide your identity?"

"Well, putting aside the issue with Ghost for now..." Helios said, "I feel that this has gone on for far too long. I'm not even sure how you all were supposed to identify that patient in the first place, but whatever. We need to get out of here."

Helios let out a long sigh and rested against the wall. "I'm the patient in that X-ray." He said, sounding more irritated than anything. "As you can probably guess, Ghost's hypothesis was incorrect. I'm not dead yet. But I'm sure some of you will be pleased to know that I'll likely be gone in less than a month." His eyes seemed to drift toward Bradley and Midge in particular.

Emma looked down awkwardly. She looked less calm than usual, as if what she was about to do made her uncomfortable.

"...you all have another decision to make. We'll vote, just like last time.

"I acquired Mr. Tesla's medical records. The details of how don't matter. If you all vote to do so...his records will automatically be sent to Governor Fernando's campaign team. Otherwise, they will remain private."

"W-wait, seriously?! Dude, how does that even work? How did you get to run for president with such a terrible illness?!" Albert seems flabbergasted. "What's even on those files, man? What'll happen if we send them to Fernando? Are they going to use that shit to their advantage? That's...this is just all kinds of fucked up, isn't it?"

"We have to vote on that? Why? What's the purpose?" Ghost asked, staring at Helios. "I'm sorry Helios, the last thing you want is a situation like this, when you're suffering already..."

"But... it does make me think of something. Bradley... didn't you say that there was a time where Helios had died in here, but after you escaped, you heard news that he was alive and well? Might that have something to do with the Ghost Protocol? I'm sure someone said that Helios was involved with that."

Bradley nodded slowly recalling "I don't remember much...I was on a lot of sedatives at the time. I might have dreamed it?" Bradley muttered "It sounds weird but if Mr Helios is able to move around with such an advanced stage of cancer and no deficiency maybe this Helios is a homunculus?" He suggested.

"But does this vote even matter?" Bradley asked clearly deeply uninterested in the politics.

“It sounded like Helios is able to make a miraculous comeback in the election... but if the public finds out Helios is gonna drop dead before he even gets sworn it, then it might not happen,” Teddy said. “But in the other timelines it sounded like Helios managed to live longer, and even pop up despite supposedly dying in here, so... something is definitely screwy.”

Helios chuckled dryly at Teddy's response.

"I didn't find out until after the election had already begun." Helios explained, "I didn't want to back out of the race, so I went on chemo. But yeah, I assume Fernando's campaign would use this to his advantage."

Doctor Nanjo wrote:

"I honestly didn't know a thing about homunculi." Helios added, "Tyrell Hodges met with me one day. He just said that if I ran, he could save my life. That's all I ever knew."

"I don't think I'm a homunculus...but I guess I have no way to know. Maybe the me Bradley heard about was a homunculus? Either way, I doubt I would have lived long enough to become a ruthless dictator myself, short of some miracle."

"He's not. We know that. I killed him for a vaccine. Someone probably replaces him the same way someone replaced Adriana," Midge nods.

"I don't know what this means for us. Couldn't the leader replace whoever gets elected as president whether they were about to die or not? I guess it might be more difficult to weasel into Fernando's team."

"Yeah, lets just show the records in case that works."

"Could he have just been the leader's puppet the whole time? What's the point of that?"

"V-Violet, it'd be a pretty big problem", Albert murmurs, trying to take everything in. "I-if word got out that Helios was a cancer patient and yet was running for such an important post, his political career would be over. And that would change a lot of shit...the future Midge, even Sherrington knew will be null and void. Fernando would win in that case."

Bradley nodded understanding Albert's explanation "Well then in that case...we should definitely reveal the information." He decided "This way we would stop all the unpleasant future stuff that would happen if Helios becomes president and we would not need to kill him like Midge planned."

"We still don't have the bigger picture here. How did Helios win in the first place? He was predicted only 20% of the votes," Ghost said, still slumped on the floor by the wall. "We heard there was a time where he won thanks to his rescue of Violet, but that's not likely to happen now anyway."

"I... want to avoid publicly shaming you, Helios. I still don't think any of what happened in the future was really your fault. If anything Tyrell seemed more to blame."

"If this comes out, it will be in newspapers everywhere," Ghost said sadly. "The press won't hesitate to drill deep into a story like that. I know I'd rather have some peace if I was in the same boat."

"If all this is really about saving the future, I trust that Emma already knows what she's doing. I don't think this decision here will have any impact on that, otherwise why risk giving us the choice? And in any case, the people we're dealing with - 'Leader' and homunculi and Tyrell Hodges - won't be stopped by a mere political scandal."

"Before it was about revealing the truth of a crime. Now it's about personal matters. They're incompatible," Ghost chided Teddy. "But I do agree it wouldn't feel right to let the public be mislead when it might be in their best interests to know... Helios, what are your plans? Do you still intend to run, even after all this?"

Helios sighed at Teddy and said, "Mr. Bianchi, I know you're disappointed that we probably won't be spending any quality time together in prison, but please try to remain civil."

At Ghost's question, he sighed and ran a hand through his hair, leaning against the wall. "Look, I don't know... I don't want the last days of my life to be spent getting incessantly mocked by the entire population of America. But I don't know what I plan to do next. I can't just back out a week before the election either. B-But if I win the election, apparently everyone's gonna die?"

"...I think I have to keep trying. I can't just give up hope on my life. Th-There's gotta be some other way!" He looked pleadingly at the others. "S-Some way that the nation can be preserved without me having to die. We can do something, right?" It's clear from his tone that even he has doubts.

"You're already mocked," Midge says. "It's not going to get worse because you have cancer."

She looks at Helios, a little sad. "Tyrell used you as his puppet, literally. We can't let that happen again."

Albert grits his teeth. “Yeah, well…for all we know, if Helios loses the election, maybe things will go to shit even more. Maybe the lack of homunculi will just lead to the extinction of the entirety of the human population. Who knows? Helios here might be the butterfly… Though I suppose, there’s no knowing what’ll actually happen, so I might be off. Hard to even tell, honestly.”

Bradley rolled his eyes at Albert "That's pretty silly Mr Albert, we can't read the future about all those other things that might happen. All we know is that if Mr Helios stands a chance of becoming president than that's one of the elements that leads to the end of the world. We should do everything we can to stop it then."

He gave Mr Helios a sympathetic look "It's not about shaming you, and I doubt people would be really cruel to someone who is dying so much but you definitely aren't fit for the job as it is."

Bradley nodded "I vote we release the documents"

"I've already been receiving treatment from Adriana, and I think you're being excessively optimistic. It's because I'm already a laughingstock that people would just double down if this got out," Helios said, sighing glumly. "But if that's your decision, there's not much I can do about it."

"We don't need to publicly humiliate Helios to get him treatment!" Ghost exclaimed, forgetting about the recording in her agitation for the new situation. "Vote for release if you feel it's necessary to avert the worst future, but don't act like you're doing Helios a favour by causing a public outcry! If you're doing this, do it knowing what the outcome will really mean."

"I vote we don't leak the documents. I'm confident it will have no bearing either way on the larger conspiracy, and it's a terrible thing to do to a person, invading their privacy for something so sensitive."

Bradley gave Ghost a worried look clearly sad to disagree with her again "I do want to avert whatever the horrible future is. I don't think the public would be so cruel to him but somehow Helios becoming president leads to the awful future so we should try and prevent that however we can."

"To be clear I don't want to shame you but it is irresponsible of you to continue running like this knowing what can happen in the future. If you promise to withdraw from the election then I'd be fine keeping the documents secret and protecting your privacy."

Helios shook his head. "The elections in a week. I can't back out. The outrage if I tried would be insane."

"Besides, the way I see it, if I was elected I could directly take steps to prevent this bad future from happening. What if Fernando got roped into everything after he was elected, and things became just as bad? I'm not taking that risk, so no matter what you all choose, I'm going all the way. I doubt I'm likely to win anymore anyway."

Bradley tilted his head considering it "It's the same problem with Mr Albert's plan though. It's all 'what ifs?' We can't bet that Fernando won't be replaced by a homunculus or something and start all that evil stuff but we know for sure that all the evil stuff happens if you get to be president." Bradley shook his head sadly "I'm not saying you are 'evil' Mr Helios, but if you aren't the one who does all the bad stuff in the future then whoever that is is clearly counting on you winning the election or has something set aside to ensure you do in future."

Bradley squinted "Maybe I'm misremembering...but wasn't it the NEXT election that you run for and win rather than this one?"

"It's not your information to share." said Adriana simply. "If Helios doesn't want it out there, then I don't think it should be released. If you think that's not acceptable, well, it's not your body being given over for everyone to pick over. I'm actually shocked a doctor would even entertain the notion of handing out someone's medical records to anyone without their consent."

"Anyone who ridicules you for being sick is scum," Teddy said with surprising solemnity. "That being said, if people are angry with you for hiding something like this... That's a consequence you should've been prepared for when you decided to neither reveal your diagnosis or drop out.

"Anyway, I think Bradley's got it right. As long as we don't know exactly what happens with Helios and the presidency, it seems like stopping Helios's presidency is a decent way to stop the holumculus apocalypse. ...And this is something the public should know about a man they're about to vote to lead them."

"Well then...isn't it really suspicious that things would turn around so easily? Maybe that evil leader person has a homunculus of you ready, helps you win the election and then uses your homunculus to replace you after?" And that was that. Helios’ medical records would be… sent to Fernando’s camp. There was no indication that anything had happened, Emma just assured that they’d be sent automatically if the vote was completed.

Helios leaned heavily against the wall and sighed, slowing sliding to the floor. Adriana stood nearby but did nothing. She just quickly glanced over, and then back towards the ground.

“I’m sorry… Helios.” Ghost’s shoulders drooped, clear that she had no real words of reassurance.

“So?” Helios glanced at Emma. “What happens now? Will this stop me from being elected?”

“I can only hope so. And even if it does… there’s no guarantee that’ll save the world either.”

“... thanks for keeping my secret, Adriana.” Helios softly smiled, not looking directly at her.

Adriana sighed, looking at him. “... I’m not the one you should be thanking. I only met ‘you’ today after all.”

“That’s weird actually.” Midge frowned. “Shouldn’t the government already know about Helios’ cancer? The FBI would know.”

Helios chuckled a little. “You’re right. It probably didn’t even matter...”

Ghost looked at Helios and walked a little closer. “Umm...Helios, I don’t know much about how well you knew Nina but… is it perhaps possible that she decided to keep your secret of her own volition?”

Helios looked at Ghost. He didn't say anything for a long time. It was clear he didn’t have an answer for that but the possibility seemed to cheer him up slightly. Slowly, he stood to his feet.

“Honestly, one of my bigger disappointments is that I won. So many times. An overwhelming victory in so many timelines… and yet nobody will ever know. Everybody will continue to say I never stood a chance in the first place.”

Teddy rolled his eyes heavily. “Would you listen to this fucking crybaby?” He laughed. “Tessy, the only reason you ever won is tricks. Because people believed you were someone you weren’t. Nobody would vote for you.”

Helios didn’t seem to react to the words. He just walked past Teddy, brushing his shoulder slightly. “Should we head to the Biolab then?”

He headed to the doorway before speaking again, “And by the way Mr. Bianchi, good luck flipping me in a plea deal to the government. I doubt they’ll care to prosecute me if I’m dead before a trial date can even be set.”

He walked out the door. Grumbling, Teddy quickly followed after with everybody else tailing behind.

While walking over, Midge remembered something. “Oh, Albert? You said you knew it was Ghost in the video for sure, right? Was that cause… Sherrington saw her?”

“Yeah, he unmasked her at one point and saw her face. It was covered in bandages but even with them...I could tell her face was horribly disfigured. Maimed.” He began to whisper more, realizing Ghost was shivering at the conversation.

“Albert...why do you think Sherrington cut off my head?”

“Does he need a reason?” Violet asked. “He was really crazy.”

“... I don’t know why he did it.” Albert said to Ghost. “But somehow, I don’t think he did it for no reason. He didn’t have to and could’ve just left your body in the freezer, so he wouldn’t have wasted that much time unless he thought it was important.”

Teddy snapped at everyone. “Alright, let’s keep our eyes on the prize ok? Trying to rationalize that fucking nut is gonna take way more than 6 hours.”

Eventually, they ended up at the Biolab. While everyone’s eyes were on Emma she...moved to the cryogenic freezing pod. She pressed a button to open it, revealing the empty inside. She placed her palm on the side, looking solemn.
