"Dear me... This is quite puzzling." Hazel said, clearly puzzled by the hints regarding the keykeeper.

"Zero certainly seems to be trying hard to make it appear otherwise," Jason commented drily. "But yes, I'd tell you if I had the key anyway. I don't really see any point in anyone keeping it hidden, unless Zero promised the keykeeper something.

"I suppose Anna fits the new hint. Otherwise, well, perhaps someone is still keeping something to themselves, even now?" he then suggested. "Perhaps someone here is really Forrest," he continued, not-so-subtly eyeing Maximillion.

"Hmm well it's definitely plausible for someone here to be 'Forrest' and by virtue of being the last seemingly male person here that could be me but I still feel Luka is worth considering." Maximillion said. "As an additional thing, you might consider that if Luka AND Anna are both drones operated by someone somewhere else then they have effectively been using a fake identity as well. After all we've never met the 'real' Anna. Only heard a synthethised voice and silent messages on a screen."

Maximillion's eyes lit up as he realised something else "Or! Jason did introduce himself as 'The Emissary' then 'Wesley' and he was a previous resident of this house!"

"You're not just the 'last seemingly male person here'. We still, even now, know very little about you," Jason pointed out. "I said this to you before, but, everyone else here I can place. Everyone else has ties, to people, places and events. But not you. We're this close to the end and I still have no idea why Zero brought you into this game."

“Who here knew Forrest?” Astrid asked the group. “I did, but unless two others come forward, there isn’t much point in pursuing that route.

“Disregarding our color codenames, Luka initially introduced himself as Azazel, so he is a valid candidate.

“Jason, you said you knew Luka, Stella, and—Iris from before the game.” There was a tinge of confusion in that last name. “But what about Vivienne? Was today really your first time meeting her?”

Despite the fact that she had basically given up, it seemed Astrid still couldn’t help but get involved in this little puzzle.

Jason nodded a little unhappily. "I never really met any of Iris's family. She became somewhat cut off from them after meeting me.

"In any case, I suppose I was also acquainted with Hazel, to some degree," he then added. "I didn't really know her back then, but it might count."

Hazel seems to be thinking about something before she realized something.

"If I may add onto the discussion regarding Forrest Carroll... His name is vaguely familiar. Like we have met for some reason. I get the feeling that he live nearby." Hazel said, hoping that her statement will be useful.

The players discuss what to do next and who the keykeeper could be for a little while when the group finds a small white rectangle on the ground. Attached is a sticky note with the words:

"Consider it a gift!"

It probably has some sort of magnet in it to open electronic locks.

The group wonder for a while what to do with this. It must be the key from the Keykeeper. Did they just leave it here?

They go upstairs into the upper hallway, the one with the CHURCH room coming off of it.

At the end of the hallway is a pristine white door. The electronic key beeps in front of it, and they can hear the door unlatch.

Inside is a modern bedroom. There's hexagonal shelving units against the walls containing various puzzles and books. There's a harp standing in the corner with several sheets of handwritten music next to it. The entire room is lit with dim, recessed lighting. On one side of the bedroom is a large window overlooking the property, which is now shrouded in darkness.

Nearby the window is a chess set facing a screen, as if games could be played over the screen there.

The bed itself is rather plain. It's just a single bed as well.

Hazel looks at the modern room, looking very confused.

"This room... It's different from the rooms we have been to... But I don't understand any of this. Why modern?" Hazel asked as she tilted her head to one side, clearly confused.

Maximillion stood by the window hands on his hips as he beheld the darkness before him. “Hmm quite a cosy set up here and what a lovely view! I bet the sun comes up lovely over there!” He pointed out as he admired the landscape.

Turning back from the others “I wonder what happens now? Did the Keykeeper want us kept in the dark? Did they just give up?” His face grimaced slightly “Does this mean we can’t win the bigger prize?” He looked eagerly around the corners of the room as if expecting Zero to clarify any of this before sighing and moving off to examine the hexagonal shelving units.

“Well no matter. There cannot be much more of this accursed challenge left to us. Let us settle this, and then we can go about the rest of our lives.”

"I'm sure the $370,000 prize is still on the table," Jason said, looking around as well. "Otherwise the keykeeper could have just done what they did from the start, if their goal was to trick us and make us end up with the $70,000 prize. I think this means Pink wasn't the keykeeper, at least. Speaking of, can she contact us here? Is that what the screen is for?" He went over to the chess board to check.

"What if the keykeeper was desperate to win the game? They probably gave up the key in order to ensure the upcoming game will be $370,000. Some of us were close to a million dollars." Hazel theorized. "It may have to do with the hints about the keykeeper's identity. Perhaps, we should think about the hints carefully."

With that being said, Hazel made her way over to the harp. She examined the harp before she glance down at the music sheets that were next to the harp.

The pages by the harp are apparently original compositions. One of the sheets of music is "Birdsong" and it seems to be a transcription of Cousteau's birdsong.

Another is "Theme from The Emissary" which seems to be the theme song from the movie of the same name.

Additional compositions also exist but they're older and less relevant.

...

The shelves are full of books. Romances, technological textbooks, joke books, and so on. There are some on the morphogenetic field theory as well. One book which catches the eye of the others is "Pagan Rituals in the Fox Harbor Area: How the Fox Harbor Commune Supposedly Brought the Symphonic Warbler Back From the Dead".

...

The screen in front of the chess set turns on. It seems to be the view of another chessboard similar to the one in front of the screen. It seems this would allow someone to play chess against another player remotely. Two people move in the background, out of focus.

“Astrid, I was...” Maximillion starts as she snatched the book right out of his hands “Oh never mind, you just enjoy your studies,” he giggled plucking a joke book and starting to read that.

Stifling a snicker Maximillion said.

“Hey Jason, an actor friend of mine fell through the floor recently.”

He barely could hold in his laughter.

“I think it was just a...STAGE...he was going through!”

Maximillion beamed at Jason and wiggled his eyebrows.

Astrid leafs through the book:

The Fox Harbor Commune was known for performing taxidermy on many woodland creatures after they died, as a way of providing a vessel for the soul of the animals should they ever return to earth. In their eyes, each stuffed animal is a vessel for the soul of a dead creature.

Interestingly enough, and something this book wishes to pursue further is that there were some times when souls supposedly returned to their bodies. These cases were during rituals. The Fox Harbor Commune would have rituals to bring certain creatures back to life, and one such creature was the Symphonic Warbler.

The interesting thing about Symphonic Warblers is that each one has a call which is about ten billion times as unique as a human fingerprint. This means that each one has a completely unique song.

It is said that the warblers can always feel when their song is sung, since it is so closely associated with them. As such, the Commune would sing songs to stuffed birds in hopes of rousing them. In some cases, it is said to have worked. The dead bird, hearing it's song, would return to it's corpse and somehow control the body without muscle.

It is unknown how long they can live under this condition. It is exceedingly hard to test since recording devices cannot yet completely capture the sounds of the warbler. The Commune was able to replicate it more closely by using a massive choir with many instruments.

It is perhaps possible that some Symphonic Warblers are secretly stuffed and nobody knows.

A woman in her mid-to-late thirties approaches the screen. Her hair color is different, and she's older, but looking at her face, she's unmistakable:

She is Iris DuGrande.

"Hello?" she asks, looking down at the screen.

On the other side you can see a woman with blonde hair, tied into one braid over her right shoulder, held together with a red ribbon. A yellow sweatsuit embroided with a black star pattern is also in view. There are a few age marks on her face, and she looks older than most would remember. It's unmistakeably Iris DuGrande, however.

In the video, the person in the background comes forward as well.

It's Hazel, exactly the same as ever, nearly the same as the one with everyone. She hobbles closer with her cane.

She smiles and waves, "Hello everyone!"

Every drop of color immediately drained from Ember's face. Whatever explanations she had before were excuses she hardly believed to begin with, but having them smashed just from looking at Iris' face was still shocking.

She just stood there frozen, staring at someone she knew had to be dead and couldn't disregard as easily as Luka.

Vivienne started at the screen, an expression of shock frozen on her face.

“N-No...This can’t be real. This must be a...recording, or something, right? I-I mean, surely there aren’t two Hazels?”

“I-Iris...” she trailed off and seemed to tremble unnaturally.

"No! Please, stop suggesting that!" Iris shakes her head. "Look, I know it must be weird -- but I'm real. I was Pink in the game. Probably still am. I don't remember much about myself, but I... slowly, I'm piecing it together. Jason- we lived together. I remember that much, now. I was... really lonely, a lot of the time. And I got a lot of hate mail. I don't know how, or why. It's just there, for now. So, please, trust me."

Maximillion looked on with more amusement than amazement “It is truly fascinating the lengths they’ll go to in order to torture you Jason my poor friend.” He said tentatively touching the screen. “Considering the lengths gone to set up personal torments so far, there is a perfectly rational explanation for this. One that you yourself are well acquainted with.”

Maximillion tilted his head back and clicked his tongue “Plastic surgery and actors. A simple but delightfully effective deception. Though it does make me strongly suspect Pink is Zero after all this.” He flipped open his joke book again and went back to giggling at it.

"Simple plastic surgery can't achieve results like this," Jason muttered, staring at the screen. "My own surgery didn't make me look like Wesley, I simply stopped looking like myself. Looking identical to an existing person though, that's no 'simple' feat.

"But even still... How? How can this...?" So fixated was he on 'Iris' that a pro wrestler might struggle to wrench his gaze away. Max's comments certainly weren't going to match up.

"So... You're saying that we're twins, Stella?" Hazel asked as she raised an eyebrow. "If I did have a twin sister, she probably died a long time ago as a result of the family curse. Dear me... I can't remember."

"I wish I knew what was going on." Hazel 2 said, looking confused. "Why did Zero feel the need for there to be two of me? Was it for me to link to the other me as part of the Morphogenetic Field?"

“Right well!” Maximillion snapped his joke book shut “I think that’s enough theatrical tricks for today. How about we focus on getting out a little more hmm?” He said patting the thing that was Luka on the shoulder gently for fear it would malfunction.

He sat down by the harp, cracked his fingers and plucked the “Birdsong” composition from the selection “A professional gamer comes prepared for ANYTHING!” He declared before attempting to play the harp.

“Well...in any case,” Vivienne brushed a few errant strands of hair to the side and let out a shaky breath, clearly not sure what to think anymore. “It doesn’t seem like we’re making any progress. We may have to vote for the keykeeper before the next round can truly begin. Mr. Church still seems like the most obvious pick to me, but perhaps we should think it over.”

Hazel seems to be thinking about something before she turns to Max.

"Hmm, now that I thought about a few things deeply, I seem... to remember something." Hazel said, as she tapped her cheek with one finger. "I think Max is married, because... well... I attended his wedding. And we have spoken mostly in a way that's not super close."

"Though, why did I attend your wedding, Max?" Hazel asked. "Dear me, if only I can remember the reason why..."
