Basil sighed with relief as it was confirmed that more cheese was on its way and then laughted bashfully as Gloria confirmed that Billy was indeed a Moonview. "Well I did tell you that we Moonviews certainly had interesting gatherings Wynnie-poo." He glanced at the other members of his family and his children.

"It's been a while I'd forgotten quite how lovely they could get." He sighed placing the nearly untouched glass of Chardonnay down on a table.

"I'm going to take our suitcases off to our room. Violet and Ashen seem to be doing ok so feel free to have some fun." He gave Wyn a broad hug. "And remember you are just as much a Moonview as the rest of us dear." He assured her as he broke the embrace beaming.

Releasing her Basil went over to the two heavy suitcases and with some difficulty hefted them before preparing to leave.

"Cousin William...? Can't say that I'd heard of him." Vincent replied as he let out a sigh once his aunt confirmed who this Billy fellow was. Then he picks up the suitcase that he just put down some time ago. "Guess I better get settled in before I can mingle with the rest of the family some more."

Oh, that interesting question. Not easy to answer,” Uncle Billy muttered, “But since you are nice lady, I try my hardest.”

Billy looked around the room thoughtfully. He eventually saw Briggs offering him a towel for some reason and ruffled his hair.

“Ah, I am dear old papa of this dude right here. So I must be part of family, yes? Can’t you see resemblance?”

She gave a small nod as he spoke, followed by an understanding smile. This man sure was quite odd, but she'd never judge a book by it's cover. Though she had to remain cautious in case anything were to happen.

"Oh, darling, do take your time. Needn't to worry." She'd chuckle brightly to the small compliment, a toothy grin on her face. "How very sweet of you, dearest."

She blinked in a bit of surprise, trying her best to see any fort of resemblance. But no matter how hard her brain tried to piece the puzzle together, she was left with something unsolved. "Ah, I am afraid I do not. But I believe you!" For the most part.

As Gloria explained who the man was, the breath that Jacqueline had so unconsciously held in soon came out into a relieved sigh. My, how disrespectful she was being. To have thought such thing. She needed to get herself in order.

"O-oh my, I'm so terribly sorry. Please except my utmost apologies for my behavior. I do hope you find it at your pleasure to be here." She gave a small curtsy before dusting off her dress. She truly did feel shame for doubting someone who was family even for a second. But she had to stay positive. That wasn't what was important.

Violet almost stayed behind until the sight of a hippie was blasted upon her probably innocent eyes. Thus, she decides to follow behind Asher and Robin as they go get something to drink.

She then proceeds to stroll around the house, gliding her fingers along the expensive walls and furniture.

"Ah! Cousin Bertie!" Vincent exclaims cheerfully, upon seeing Bertram joins the ever-growing party. "Seems like I'm pretty popular right now."

"So, how's life at the mansion holding up since I left?" Vincent asked Bertram.

"Must be a nice change. I hear the music business isn't turning out so well for you," Bertram replied rather rudely, before shaking his head and collecting himself. "Life here is good. My business is booming, Lucine is the perfect daughter, and Jackie... Well, you can see for yourself. Still loves travelling, she always has such wonderful stories to tell whenever she drops by for a visit. She's just as energetic as when we got married all those years ago!"

Pierre wrote:
Shaking his head he nodded curtly to Bertram as he joined them, smiling slightly to hear him called “Bertie”.

“Yes...Bertie, the place is looking wonderful. It’s too to see mum looking so healthy too. See Archer has his hands full too as well.” He chuckled looking over at the adorable tiny butler that had just arrived.

"We've been over this, Basil," Bertram predictably replied. He was as predictable as clockwork, a complete contrast to his adventurous wife. "Only mother and Jackie call me Bertie. You too, Vincent, if you would, call me Bertram please.

"In any case, yes, mother is fit as a fiddle as ever. She organised this whole thing, you know! With the help of our hard-working staff, of course. Archer has a good head on his shoulders, I'm sure Allister will be a great butler when he's older. Perhaps he can pick up the slack..." He glanced sidelong at Briggs then. His distaste was obvious, but he apparently couldn't say anything given Gloria was the one who hired him.

And then Billy arrived.

Bertram was so appalled by his behaviour that he couldn't even manage a response, everything he wanted to say bottling up inside him as his face grew red. Thankfully Robin saved the day by questioning Gloria: if 'William' was family, and Gloria invited him, then Bertram had to accept it. He grabbed a nearby glass of champagne and downed it in one to try and mask his feelings, coughed politely, then said, "Welcome to the party, Billy. Do... make yourself at home. I suppose I needn't tell you that, though."

Vincent shrugs as he wave off the rude remark that Bertram said about his career as a musician.

"Trust me, Bertie. I have a good feeling about the next album!" Vincent replied as he smiles at Bertram. Oh dear, it seems like he will still address Bertram as Bertie. "I just need to find some inspiration for my next album. Which you can already tell that's what I'm doing now."

And then Bertram mentioned about how things have been going lately. "Hmmm... You say that Lucine is the perfect child, huh? I see." Vincent said as he looks in the direction of Lucine before looking back to Bertram. "Anyway, it's nice to hear that life have been going well in the mansion."

"If you don't mind me, Bertie, I'll be off to look around the place before dropping my luggage off in my room." Vincent said before he went off to the counter, where he grabs a apple from the fruits section and began munching on it. While munching on his apple, Vincent walk around the foyer to look at the decorations.

Bertram narrowed his eyes. "Quite. Feel free to get one of the servants to carry your luggage for you. Briggs would be up to the task, I'm sure."

"Ahem. Excuse me, please?"

The rather haughty sounding clearing of the throat seemed to be coming from the entrance.

"Is this the house of one Gloria Moonview, please? Or did the boatman ferry me over to the local circus instead?"

A figure stepped into the manor. It had been 15 years since he had last been there, but his figure, pose, old-fashioned clothing, well combed red hair, his snobby manner of speaking... It was unmistakably Maurice Moonview, the third son of Gloria. To those who recognised him, anyway.

He pushed up his glasses quite nonchalantly, a little smile on his thin face. "I will say, it seems quite difficult to tell at the moment. Quite the number of unfamiliar faces here." He tilted his head towards Briggs, then Allister, then James, then Billy. "Curious, quite curious... I shall admit, I was not expecting such a rowdy bunch here." He put his hand on his chin, seemingly contemplating something. "I must ask, who let all the riff-raff out? I had been under the impression that the Moonview family was more... sophisticated than this."

He shook his head in a condescending manner, clearly unimpressed. It seemed that little had changed with regards to his personality in the fifteen years he had disappeared for.

James spotted Bertram and like a dog coming over to its owner he ran over to him.
"Hey! Bertie boy how are you doing? I've been trying to contact for a while now buddy but all my calls have been sent to voice mail for some reason," James chuckled, "I don't know maybe there's some sort of issue with your phone but anyway if you have any free time come and talk to me. There's something very important I need to tell you."

"My patience is wearing thin," Bertram sighed as yet another nuisance came to bother him. "Is today really the best time for this? Mother hasn't seen all her children together in years, let's just enjoy the occasion," he said, trying to brush James off.

"Maurice, you seem to be doing well! How's business?" he then called over to the last sibling to arrive. He didn't seem to mind the man's rudeness, likely sharing his feelings on the matter.

"Aha! Bertram!" Maurice seemed to brighten up instantly noticing the man, coming over to him. "It has been quite a while, hasn't it? I'm doing quite well for myself. As I told everybody when I first left, I had bigger plans in this world, great things to achieve. I've been working as an accountant this past decade or so, and I'd say it's quite the sustainable job." He remarked quite cheerily. "I've managed to acquire my own fair share of cash, and on my own merit. Like I told mother ages ago, I didn't need her help to go places in this world. The same can't be said of everybody, I suppose..." He shook his head. "I've heard that you've been making a name for yourself as well! As expected of you, yes? Even without keeping in touch with everybody I could just tell you were going places, hahaha." He gave a polite laugh. "Truly, you are the breadwinner of this family."

He then gave a glance to Lucine. "And who is this young lady, if I may ask?"

I've been thinking about bringing my old man's company back and I'd you like to invest 10,000,000 dollars for 25% of the company. I know it went bankrupt but that wasn't my fault. The last recession was what killed it. That's why with a small cash injection and our combined expertise I think we can really create something special."
He then noticed Maurice, "Hi I don't think we've met before I'm James, Gloria's nephew. You seem rich if you'd also like to invest you're more than welcome."

Vincent was still checking out the decorations, making minor comments on them. As he continues to look at the decorations, Vincent hums a tune to himself.

At this point, he is completely unaware of Maurice arriving at the gathering. However, what Vincent doesn't know is that the sticker-decorated guitar case on his back would be a dead giveaway to his presence at the gathering.

"James, is it?" Maurice nodded. "I see. Well then, James, I'd just like to say I have zero interest in investing in your ridiculous scheme, and I believe that my brother will be on the same page as well. 10 million dollars? Are you quite daft? Do you think I have so much cash to throw away at your pathetic dreams?" He shook his head, turning away from the man. "No, I believe we could do without leeches like you in our esteemed family, good sir."

Hearing the tune, Maurice flinched. "Good grief, Bertram, what is that incessant humming?" He commented to his brother. "I've heard mosquitoes buzz better than this." He looked behind, noticing Vincent thanks to his sparkly guitar case. "Excuse me, could you please stop your wretched tune, please?" He shouted at the man, a bit irritated. "I believe it would benefit everyone's ears here."

Jacqueline's eyes soon scanned over everyone once more, trying to find something else to do other than stand here and think. Her mind was like a maze and if she ventured through it too long, she'd get terribly lost. She shook her head gently before inhaling and exhaling with a smile. Right! No need for such useless pondering! There are other things to attend to!!

Upon seeing the man walk in, she seemed to stare with a puzzled look on her face. He was . . . so terribly rude. She found it quite horrendous. Clapping her hands loudly two times to get the man's attention, she gave a big warm smile. "Now now, dearest one. Needn't to speak in such a foul manner. Saying no is perfectly fine, but could you perhaps consider saying it in a much more gentle form." She'd let out a small chuckle, trying to lighten up the slightly tense atmosphere. "He is no leech. I believe he is doing quite splendidly. Again, dearest, do try to speak your thoughts more gently." She couldn't quite hide the very slight irritation in her voice.

Her smile twitched but continued to stay curled upon her face. "His humming is quite delightful, dear. He is simply trying to have a good time. As everyone should, yes?" She folded her hands neatly behind her back. "Maybe it would benifit your ears, darling, but no one besides you seems to be quite disturbed by it." She let out a small sigh before her eyes traveled over to Bertram. She seemed to give a small pleading look before looking back at Maurice.

His praise was cut short by James's persistence, however. "$10,000,000? Are you out of your mind?" he said, raising his voice. Come back to me with a full report on how you plan to use the money and what you intend to do with the company, and then we'll talk."

Catching the look, Bertram sighed and tried to calm down. "Maurice, this is Vincent, our cousin. You met when you were much younger. He's a musician by trade... even if not a particularly successful one. So, perhaps we should forgive him his... musical tendencies," he concluded reluctantly. "Jackie's right. As I've been trying to say for a while now, this should be a happy occasion! Even when Basil got married a few years back we weren't all together like this. Today is a very special day indeed!"

"Lucine? I see..." Maurice nodded. He didn't comment on the "eldest" part. Either he didn't deem it worth commenting on or he had simply forgotten of Mickey's existence. "She seems quite well-mannered. You've done a splendid job of raising her, Bertram", he commented coolly. "As expected, of course."

As the conversation turned to Vincent and Jacqueline butted in, Maurice raised his eyebrow. Noticing the tension between the two, something clicked in place for him. "Ah, so is this your wife, Bertram?" He asked. If the two had met previously before this, he didn't seem to register that. "Forgive me, my good lady", he apologised, bowing down a bit. "My ears are quite sensitive, and I do not approve of my family manor being made into a carnival quite like this... Regardless, if the matter bothers you, then I shall drop it. I'm Maurice, by the way." He gave his hand for her to shake. "Bertram's younger brother. Don't know if we've been introduced yet." He didn't comment on the situation with James, probably because Bertram had only echoed his problems with the man.

"Still, Vincent, hmm... Have we truly met before?" He asked. "I don't believe that name rings a bell at all. Perhaps I might have been gone for too long... And what's this about Basil marrying a few years ago? I thought that happened decades back. Are you telling me he remarried? Goodness me, what have I missed here...?" He mused.

"Oh, sorry. I was just humming this tune that I know well as someone taught me how to hum it." Vincent said as he turns around and found himself face-to-face with none other than one of his cousins, Maurice. Vincent's eyes widen briefly before they narrows as he frowns at Maurice.

"Oh, great... You're here." Vincent said between gritted teeth. "It's good to see you, cousin Maurice..."

She placed a hand on her chest, her brows furrowing ever so slightly. Eldest? She felt as thought a spear shot right through her heart. Despite what Bertram may have thought of Mickey, he was still their child. To pretend as if he hadn't even existed was simply repulsive. But she decided to not speak of the matter and simply keep her mouth closed. Not the time, not the place.

Force them to conceal, and they'll never be able to show their true colors. Carnival or not, people are still people!" She clasped her hands together with a grin. "Maurice, hm? I do not believe we have, darling!"

Noticing her father, Lucine made use of that convenient excuse to put more distance between her and Billy by approaching her family (plus another uncle she never met).

"Good day, Uncle Maurice. It is a pleasure to meet you." she said, with a curtsy as usual. "I dearly hope you will enjoy your return to Eventide Island."

Then when everyone was beginning to get focused on the tension between Maurice and Vincent and he was sure no one would hear him he muttered,"What is it with family? They don't even want to help out their own cousin."

"A pleasure to meet you both." Maurice nodded to Jacqueline and Lucine. "It is a pity we've taken so long to finally meet. I've been away from this place for quite a while now... My memory of things here has grown foggy, mostly. It used to be a much... quieter place, you could say", he commented. "Still, it had been long enough, so it only made sense that I had to come back tonight. Hopefully all goes well here... Though I am quite worried about Mother."

Before Maurice showed up, Billy replied, “Oh, good to have that figured out. Though I call myself e-unique rather than e-strange, and I haven’t gone by William in tens of years. But it is my name! Thank you Gloria and other Moonview members for being so welcoming! Maybe this be start of beautiful relationship!”

“Is shame my parents not here though. Was hoping to meet them. But at least I have secret witch hunting skills!”

After Maurice’s arrival, Billy suddenly appeared behind him, attempting to mingle with him and Bertram.

“Hello, Morris!” He shouted, “You seem like bit of butt boy, but I love your fashion sense. Hat especially! Must be all very expensive. You look like successful person!”

Maurice appeared scared for his life. "W-who exactly are you? Can somebody explain what's going on here?"

"I wish I could. Maurice, this is apparently William, another cousin. Or, 'Billy' as he likes to be known. Mother can vouch for him... but I find it hard to believe myself that he's a Moonview," Bertram elucidated. "I've never seen him before in my life, in any case. I like to think I know our family well: as oldest, it is my duty. Yet his identity eludes me."

"Ah, don't beat self up 'bout it, Barty," Billy replied, "Not even government knows about me. Have to carry fake ID in case am arrested. Ha!"

"Anyway, you clearly do good job running family, but sometimes you have to roll with the blows. That real United American States phrase, yes? But sure you know that by now anyway."

"Fake ID...?" Maurice seemed even more concerned after the explanation. "Good grief. Mother, what were you thinking...?"

"Police and criminal. These just group decisions!" Billy explained, "Only difference is circumstances we can not control. If more people realize this, I think world be happier place!"

Uncle Billy seemed to be distracted by something. He glanced around the room.

"Hmm. Where did mildly plump man go? Wanted to ask him if he was tinkerer like me. But guess no one here share Billy interests..."

Billy became sad. His head hung low, and he began to walk around with purple swirls over his head like an Animal Crossing villager who'd just been brutally battered with a bug catching net.

Robin glanced in Zachary's direction as he whispered his disapproval. He was probably right. Maybe. She didn't know...

Quote:
"Oh, Robin! If only all of my children were as accepting as you are," Gloria beams. She had taken quite a a lot of favor to Robin. Also, what was that? Did she imply Robin was her child just then? It kinda sounded like it.

Robin blinked and looked up at Gloria, eyes wide.

But before she could think of what to say in response to that, several others began to chime in. The tension diffused somewhat and the moment passed.

This was all so... much. She shook her head and tried to ignore how warm her face felt. Water. That's what she needed. Robin muttered a flustered apology to Asher, Zachary, and Violet and hurried over to the refreshment table to pour herself a glass.

Violet just stares at Robin, confused. Weren't they already going to the refreshment table? Either way, she follows behind her, also getting a glass of water. She taps on her shoulder and peers at her face, somewhat concerned. "Are you okay?"

Robin turned to Violet and made an awkward attempt to nod while she was still swallowing water. "Oh - yes, I'm fine! Just, um..." She gestured broadly to the area they had just been standing in. "Got confused, I guess." In an effort to change the topic, she quickly added, "So! Are you still playing music these days?"

Violet decides it's best not to press the issue, taking a small sip of water.

"I don't, no. I mostly did that in a high school club. I'm not in high school anymore, and I did want a violin for a short while after graduating, but I kind of have... other priorities now, I guess. Besides university is sucking up a lot of my time anyway. It's all very tiring, if you ask me." A sigh succeeds the sentence. "I'm guessing if you're asking, you have an interest in it yourself?"

Basil returns back to the room and delicately shuts the door behind him seeing the party in full-swing now.

He waves affectionately to his family who he assumes are having a great time, before spotting Maurice. Despite his better judgement, Basil returns to the snob squad in order to welcome Maurice to the party.

"Maurice, my brother! I didn't know you'd arrived? It's good to see you again. Is your accounting business still as booming as ever?" he greeted the man taking a fresh glass of chardonnay. "And nice to see you too Jacqueline!" he said brightening up as he spotted the glamorous woman and realised he hadn't said hello yet. "No sign of Anton, or Alice today? They couldn't make it?" he asked taking a sip from his glass happy to have a less-snooty conversation companion.

Robin hummed and nodded, and took another sip.

"Oh, well, yes," she replied with a tired smile. "I play the piano. Right now I'm teaching, just picking up part-time work here and there. But there's a symphony not too far away that has an opening in a few months. So I'm going to audition." A small laugh, nervous and excited, escaped Robin. "It'll be competitive, but - I have to try, you know?"

“Did someone say music?” Billy asked, snapping out of his funk and appearing near Violet and Robin. “I love music! Is great way to build togetherness. I’ve even released over ten albums. All available for free in Uncle Billy and Auntie Frank’s Junk Emporium. You should all drop by some time!”

"I've returned with the cheese," Briggs said softly, taking way too long. "...Oh, another face has arrived. This is a thrilling reunion, isn't it?"

As soon as Maurice arrived, Asher immediately tried to subtly distance himself from him. He scowled a bit at his haughty, rather arrogant words and attitude, but quickly changed his face to a more neutral expression before anyone noticed.

Vincent raises an eyebrow at Billy.

"Ten albums? That's..." Vincent stammered, confused by Billy's statement about the albums. "I'm not sure if you're exaggerating or not... But.... Did you even poured your soul into those albums? And your albums being free... That's not how the music business work, dude..."

"And to think that I poured my soul into composing my two albums and making decent sales off them... After all, I needed the money to support my family..." Vincent added on as he cross his arms.
