"Thanks..." Vincent said as Archer helped him up onto his feet. "I'm still dazed. Some way to start the day, isn't it?"

“Yo, people are still trying to sleep!” ‘Mickey’ yelled up at Zachary and the others making a commotion as he made his breakfast, blissfully unaware that anything was wrong.

"The hell is this...?" Asher murmured aloud as he crouched down near the puddle too examine it.

"... Looks like someone did some late night drinking and spilled it, if I had to guess. But apparently, they couldn't have at least cleaned it up."

Zachary ran around for several minutes like a chicken with its head cut off, looking for any sign of where his missing beloved might be. He finally arrived in the kitchen to find a small congregation of people.

"H-Hey! Hey! Have any one of you seen Robin? I can't-"

He was interrupted by Vincent slipping on a puddle of water.

"Vincent! Ohmygodohmygodohmygod, are you okay!? Oh . . . dear, I don't feel so well." He weakly leaned against a wall, every fiber of his being quivering.

Before he left his room, James hid the will in his suitcase. The document he had just read had apparently made him very happy as he was struggling to stop himself from smiling and laughing. However, he managed to compose himself and went over to greet the family. "Good morning... I still can't believe Auntie Gloria is no longer with us."

"R-Right!" Allister exclaimed, setting down the plate he was cleaning. He grabbed a small cloth and wrapped some ice in it, then quickly rushed over to Vincent and Archer.

"Here you are, Sir Vincent!"

Figuring the situation was taken care of, the thirteen year old girl took advantage of all the responsible adults being focused on Vincent and went to check out the cellar.

Curious as to what this clear liquid was, Asher decided to follow the droplets to the cellar as well, brusquely brushing past James on the way there but otherwise ignoring him.

Zachary's eyes, however, were still flitting about the room, and he spotted Lucine and Asher moving away from the group, following a trail of water droplets. Where were they going? He made to follow them.

"Holy shit." He laughed to himself as he continued to make breakfast. "Sun hasn't even risen and they already gotta make a crisis about something. Fuckin' tight-asses."

He opened the refrigerator and frowned. This quickly turned to anger as he ripped the drawers out onto the floor. "Where the FUCK are the HARD-BOILED EGGS?!"

[THEME MUSIC]

Asher examines the puddle. It smells faintly of alcohol. Late night drinking is right.

Walking past him, Lucine goes over first to the door of the cellar and descends.

The others follow close behind.

At the bottom of the stairs is nothing but darkness. The light switch is away from the bottom, so she has to wander into the darkness quite a ways, bumping past shelves, and various things which have been stacked and put into storage.

She pulls a string, and the lights flicker on...

The First Twilight

[SCENE MUSIC]

Between the shelves of bottles is a wooden table. Typically the table is filled with various world artifacts that don't belong upstairs. This time though, it's something different that's there to greet Lucine.

Five smiling faces stair back at her from atop the table, leaning back against an empty metal cage.

Lucine meets the eyes of her grandmother first, her face is so lifelike for a second, but that illusion fades, and her eyes drift away to the others...

Aunt Robin...

Uncle Billy...

Violet...

Briggs...

They stare at her with piercing eyes, all dressed in their night clothes. Their faces are unmoving. They are unbreathing.

They are dead.

As the lights flicker on, the next few seconds happen in an instant. Four bodies . . . the hippie's obviously the one catching Zach's eyes first. Flash to Violet, flash to Briggs, and then to-

Time stops.

An icy feeling overtakes Zach's heart, spreading through his entire body.

It feels like an eternity for Zach, but to everyone else present, it only took a second. Zach collapses straight backward, threatening to hit the floor with a hard *THUD*.

Archer, who followed closely behind Lucine, winces at the sight. "No way..."

Acting quickly, he covers Lucine's eyes. "Please do not look, Milady. Perhaps we should head back upstairs and get you some candy...?" Archer tugs on his collar with his free hand, and glances around to see if there are any other adults to help him.

As soon as he saw the bodies, James quietly laughed making sure no one would hear him, "Just one more then..." He then began his act, "No... how could this happen? First Auntie Gloria... and now this. Do you guys... maybe think that... this whole witch thing might be real?"

"Wh-What..."

Asher looked around at the smiling corpses of the various members of the family (plus one servant), mouth slightly agape in horror. Briggs, Billy, Robin, Gloria... and Violet.

He hesitantly stepped forward, muttering something incomprehensible under his breath, but it sounded a lot like he was murmuring "no" over and over again.

"... Vi?" was all he could stammer before collapsing to his knees, completely ignoring the slight pain it caused him as he stared up at her lifeless body.

"Don't do this..." he shakily whispered, his body beginning to fiercely tremble. "Don't-- Don't do this... I can't lose you, too..."

He felt like the weight of the whole manor crashed down onto him at once. He squeezed his eyes shut and began to breathe in and out. In. Out. In. Out. However, his breaths were rapid and frantic -- he was hyperventilating.

"S-Sis..." was all he could muster out.

Vincent looks in horror at the bodies, still holding the ice to his head.

"Oh god... What the hell is this?" Vincent asked, still in shock.

"I, I..." was all Lucine managed to say to Archer for a few moments. Her breathing got shallower and she kept a vice grip on his hand, keeping it in place.

"... A-archer, we should go check on dad. Father. We should go see if he's fine. Can you take me there?"

She's not letting his hand go.

"Archie!" The man who was once known as Mickey some time ago shouted as he came down the stairs. "You're out of-" He stopped as he finally realized what the commotion was all about. His face dropped, and he looked around at the others with uncertainty, hoping they'd know more than him.

"Oh, fuck. It's... it's the-!" Shockingly he found the restraint to not shout 'witches!' at a time like this. It was unclear whether he was shocked, in awe, or... unfazed? Surprisingly, the first person he approached was Asher.

"Ash, my man." He grabbed his shoulder, trying to get his attention away from Violet's body. "I can't schlep Uncle Zap up the stairs alone. I need your help. Come on, get to it."

"Yes, Milady.... At once." Archer, seemingly ignoring everyone else, begins to walk Lucine out of the cellar.

"Allister! This is important." He calls out. "Please watch over Madame Jacqueline and the others! I am counting on you." he quickly says before leaving the group behind, in search for Bertram.

"Nonononono..." he whispered, his voice hoarse and strained. "M-Mom... now Violet..." he squeaked out, his mind quite clearly racing, along with his heart.

SLAP

Asher was fine. 'Mickey' had just slapped himself quite hard before grabbing Asher's shoulders.

"Listen, cuz. You got all the time in the world to cry. But you need to do that shit upstairs. There's bad energy here--that shit can kill you. It might've killed some of them." He pointed his head towards the corpses. "Slap yourself. Hard. Do that shit or imma slap you, and you do not fucking want me to slap you."

Jacqueline found herself waking up to sudden panic from outside her room, groaning a bit as she slowly sat up. She felt as though she hadn't gotten any sleep at all, wrapping her arms around herself to the cold air hitting her skin. What time was it? She couldn't even begin to comprehend if it was day or night. As far as she knew, this could even be some weird dream.

Upon hearing Zachary's voice call out Robin's name, worry filled her chest. Was Robin okay? Was she in danger? God she hoped she was alive and well. But staring at the door and pondering if someone is alright doesn't do anything. She needs to go see for herself. She quickly stood from her bed and ran out of her room, making her way down a few halls until she caught up with the majority of the others who were awake.

"What on Earth is happening? Is everything alr-" Her voice soon went silent. As if someone had pressed the mute button on her entirely. She was left a shocked and terrified shadow cowering from the light. What she saw before her was a sick twisted nightmare, one that she wouldn't wish in a million years to come true. This wasn't reality, was it? This couldn't be! No way! Robin . . . Biggs . . . Violet . . . even Billy. They were all alive and well. They'd be there, chatting freely when she awoke. Exactly. There's no way IN HELL she'd ever let this be reality. They were family, even not by blood, they were FAMILY. She couldn't bare losing people and knowing she never did a damn thing about it! Damnit! Damnit!! They were all in need. They desperately wished for someone to keep them from this fate. But she was yet again, useless. Absolutely useless.

Her head was spinning like a Faris Wheel, slowly but surely making it's way to nothing. Turning endlessly without halt. Rapidly moving it's way to more and more possibilities and self depreciation. She was at fault. She allowed this to occur. She was a monster.

She reached up and pulled violently on her hair, tears rolling down her cheeks as she found herself slightly pacing within the room. So much grief. So much regret. She couldn't possibly be more saddened than she was now. The terror of imagining their panicked reactions. Seeing a foggy image within her head of them knowing, knowing they were going to die. Knowing it was the end. They were gone. And there was nothing she could do to reverse time. It stayed forever in motion, no matter the mistakes. No matter the trauma. It ignores the darkness and keeps going on. Why. WHY. They didn't deserve to die.

She couldn't manage to silence her sobbing. There was whimpering and quiet mumbling under her breath. No matter who was talking, she could only hear herself. She could only hear her thoughts. "It's all my fault it's all my fault it's all my fault . . ." She lowered her head as she continued to pull at her hair, squeezing her eyes closed as she tried to make the image disappear. She'd do anything not to see their lifeless bodies again. She'd do anything. Anything at all. Just to make it wither away.
*coughs awkwardly*

Asher jumped at the sudden slap. Did... Mickey slap himself? Once he grabbed his shoulders, Asher looked up at him with misty gray eyes, tear streaks already staining his face. However, his eyes narrowed.

"... Don't-- Don't touch me again. Ever," he hissed, hiccuping a bit as he dabbed at his eyes, shrugging Mickey's hands off of his shoulders and shakily standing up.

"... I'm not... not slapping myself. F-Fuck..." he murmured as he forcibly tore his gaze away from Violet. His breathing seemed to calm down, though it was still quite raggedy and shaky. His mind raced as memories and trauma crashed into him like violent waves (get it?), but he did his best to swallow them down. He hurriedly limped over to the unconscious Zachary and leaned down to grab one of his arms, swallowing down a bit of bile that had surged up his throat in the process.

He grabbed Zachary's legs and helped Asher carry him up the stairs, talking to him on the way. "That pain you feel now--that ain't never going away. But that's the burden of life. Suffering is the trade we all participate in as living creatures. To accept that we suffer is the first step to being free."

Looks like they made it upstairs, nice.

"Uhm...." Vincent clears his throat. "I'm sorry, but given that I hit my head... I'm not fit to help you guys investigates this.... disturbing scene."

With that being said, Vincent carefully made his way up the cellar stairs. Once back in the kitchen, he took a random seat that was within reach and sit on it.

"Ugh... My head still hurts..." Vincent winced as he continues to hold the ice to his head.

"... I'm well aware of that," Asher replied, lightly sniffling. His eyes were quite red and puffy, and his grip on Zachary was shaky, but he managed to keep hold of him.

Once they were up the stairs, Asher looked around the surrounding area.

"Shit, we need to put him down on something..."

Zachary's weight shifts slightly in Asher's and Mickey's arms as he stirs to very slight consciousness. Unfortunately, all he can do is whimper and weep helplessly, the scene he encountered in the basement replaying over, and over, and over, and over again in his head. Tears probably stained the floor as they fell freely from Zachary's face, the poor soul having no strength to stop them.

He was frustrated as the best spot to lay Zach was a couch a slightly annoying distance away. "Ay!" He shouted behind him at anybody who would listen. "Someone get Ma, she's still down there!" He hadn't noticed Zach had already begun to stir.

Upon hearing Mickey call out loudly, Vincent winced.

"Hey! Don't shout so loudly like that, it made my head hurt..." He protests in a exasperatedly tone. The musician lifts the ice from his head, waited a moment or two before putting the ice back in place.

Zach twitched again and again, resisting more and more in unpredictable ways, his mind probably unaware he was being restrained by people trying to help him.

"Stop," he uttered, "St-Stop it." His voice crescendod as he continued to babble.

"Stop smiling. Stop smiling and tell me what is wrong! Why won't-Why won't you answer me!? I can't help you if I don't know what's wrong! Just tell me! A-Answer me! Please!"

He was nearly flailing in desperation.

Maurice had gotten up with the others and had noticed something wrong, so he went to check the cellar only to discover a horrific scene before him. He squelched, trying not to throw up at the sight. He seemed quite overwhelmed by this gruesome display. "Oh, no... good god. This isn't... This couldn't have possibly been natural..." He grimaced. "Do we... have a murderer in this house? Or... murderers, even?"

Basil heard Zach's wailing as he approached the kitchen "Poor soul, he always was a bit on the sensitive side. I suppose mother's death hit him the worst." He muttered to himself as he turned the corner into the kitchen to be greeted with the peculiar sight of Mickey and Asher carrying his brother up the stairs from the cellar. Across the room Vincent was nursing a sore head, presumably from drowning his sorrows last night.

"What? Asher what's going on here?"

He noticed Asher's face was wet "A-Asher, why are you crying?" The feeling of dread in his stomach weighed heavy as ever. Before hearing Asher's response, Jacqueline's mournful wail echoed up from the cellar and Basil sprinted towards the cellar. Descending the familiar steps two-at-a-time the dingy-lit place held fond memories of games and pranks played on Archer when he was young and he vaulted them with the grace and speed of a younger man.

He saw Jacqueline

"Jacqueline? No stop." he tried to seize her hands to stop her from tearing he hair out. "What's wrong? Get a hold of yourself before you hurt yourself?" he said struggling with the distraught woman. "Come on now, one of you lot help me..." he stopped as he looked around for support his eyes finally falling on the faces in the darkness.

He dropped Jacqueline's arms and approached the most familiar one.

"Violet?" He reached out with a shaking hand to touch his daughter's cheek, as pristine and perfect as if she were still alive. Violet hadn't smiled like this in years, not since Diane's death.

She looked so much like her.

Basil's voice cracked "My little Viola? Honey? P-please..." he patted her cheek with a shaking hand "Y-you shouldn't be down here. It's d-dank and...d-dangerous. L-Let's...go...." Basil's face contorted with sorrow as his knees buckled and he wrapped his arms around his baby girl and pinned her to himself in a tight embrace, burying his head her cold shoulder to muffle his sobs.

Bertram was woken by all the commotion: it seems he'd slept in uncharacteristically late. As he quickly made his way over, he ran into Lucine and Archer, the latter of whom regretfully informed him of what had happened. He didn't need to question Archer on this: he trusted him absolutely.

He leaned down to pull Lucine into a tight hug. "It's going to be okay, dear. Now, be strong for me, okay? Archer, stay with her. I need to see this for myself." Then, without another word, he ran off for the cellar.

Unlike the others, Bertram was now prepared for what he was about to see, but it still came as a shock. He had to quickly reach out and grab a wall to support himself. Steeling himself and putting on a grim expression, he approached the table to give Briggs's body a cursory examination, picking the one he felt most comfortable touching. Then he sighed, headed over to his wife and placed an arm around her. "Come on Jackie, let's not stay down here. I think you could use a drink to steady yourself. We all could."

Jacqueline could barely pull herself from her own mind to even hear Basil. Her widened terrified eyes darted side to side as she held her breath to keep herself from crying. It felt like her throat was closing up. "They're all gone . . . they're all gone and I did nothing . . . Nothing . . . nothing nothing nothing . . ." She didn't even struggle as he tried to keep her hands from her hair, she simply continued sobbing until he let go again.

"It's not your fault, Jackie. There was nothing you could have done. Nothing any of us could have done," Bertram said reassuringly, leading her back out of the cellar.

After pouring a few drinks for anyone who wanted them - Bertram felt like he had to do something himself to settle down and keep in control - he addressed those gathered in the area. "These are dark times indeed. It's clear to me now that there is a murderer among us," he said, pausing to look everyone in the eye. "Possibly even several. I'm no detective, but it is my belief the poor people in the cellar were poisoned: a simple method that could take out multiple victims in a single night. Given recent circumstances I'm saddened to conclude mother's inheritance might have been the motive. Due to the storm we cannot receive help from the mainland, so it is down to us to get to the bottom of this. Perhaps we should read mother's will. It could provide a clue as to who stood to gain from killing so many of us that they would even target an unrelated servant. Otherwise I simply cannot fathom why anyone would go to such extremes."

Maurice listened closely to what his brother had to say, and then nodded. "Yes, yes, I concur, Bertram. What you say makes sense considerably. Perhaps they even could have poisoned Mother's plums, in retrospect... That being said, if we look at the motive, then I believe a fairly obvious suspect should arise." He raised his eyebrows. "Me and my siblings would not need to murder since we would definitely get a share from the inheritance. On the other hand, there are some more... distant relatives who would benefit from this. Particularly..."

He eyed James. "You were the first one to suggest reading the will, yes? From what you told us, you sounded like you were in need of quite the amount of cash... It wouldn't surprise me to hear if you were leeching off of Mother as well." He glared. "But I agree, we should procure the will first before we make any further judgements. It would be for the best..."

James had closely following the discussion from a distance. However, Bertram's theory and Maurice's accusation made him decide to speak up, "If this is an inheritance case wouldn't the sons be the most likely suspects as they would be the ones receiving the bulk of the inheritance and therefore would have the most to gain from Gloria's passing. Also, if it was a more distant relative such as myself wouldn't they have at least killed Bertram since as Gloria's heir he's probably going to receive the highest share. The victims as don't support an inheritance murder as they are likely to receive little or no money from Gloria. However, they could've been killed in order to make us think these murders have nothing to do with inheritance. "

'Mickey' had finished laying Zach on some couch and had attempted to comfort his mother. In his own way. Now he found himself leaning on the countertop, listening to the family talk about the will.

"You all don't get it. This ain't about your money!" He procured the letter to Forsythia from his pants, showing it to all of them.

"You think someone did this? And this display?! For goddamn money! Time to wake the fuck up! This is witches getting their revenge, and if we wanna make it then we need to give Meemah's money back. Every bill in your wallets. Every quarter in the cushions. Any copper pipe in the WALLS." He emphatically punctuated that statement by punching a wall, though it only created a dent and not the hole he intended. He began looking for a tool.
