"...I think I follow," Bertram said after a few moments to process. "There was no magic circle here, so it stands to reason the witch's primary killing power was stopped somehow. If it was stopped because you delayed it, it implies that Vincent is the Golden Witch. This is good to hear!"

Basil blinked trying to piece it all together. "Vincent is the head witch?" He looked over to the musician aghast. "I'll admit this does differ massively from the book. No spell circle, no kills...we can always verify your power later on if Wyn is willing to help." He said piecing together Robins explanation.

Basil's moustache bristled in anger "Well that sounds pretty good evidence to me. Let's lynch this bastard and be done with it!"

"Hmm, that's odd..." Asher mumbled, standing back up to stretch his legs out after he had finished investigating Archer's corpse. "The key ring is missing three keys -- one to Uncle Bertie and Aunt Jackie's room, and two more to the guest bedrooms," he reiterated to the rest of the group.

"I'm not sure why, but... yeah."

He listened as Robin went over her dream the prior night, and once she finished recapping it, he snapped his fingers.

"Good job, Aunt Robin. That definitely makes Vincent look really suspicious..." he remarked, peering at the musician. "I doubt killing him would get us out of the woods just yet, but it's a start. So, Vincent, what do you have to say to that?"

"Just a minute. Miss Robin, you stated that your suspected killer of Sir Basil and Miss Twilip is likely the same person. However, this person has a strange knack for targets, if you ask me."

Briggs took out a cigarette. "But from the story, it seemed like Miss Twilip was not a witch. Not to mention, if they targeted Basil the first night, there was no reason to. It sounds like we have a trigger happy mortal who needs to be exposed."

"A lot of this shit don't make sense to me." 'Mickey' admitted. "To believe that there are two other people besides James who can kill... nah. It ain't likely to me. We might need to strongly consider that there's another witch a killing ability."

He sat down heavily. "On the chance that Auntie is right... it feels like we don't have a choice but to kill Vincent. If he is the golden witch and she stopped him, there's a chance that a lynch could stop the four kills that were supposed to happen this twilight. On the other hand if we leave him alive, we'll know for sure if she was right." He laughed at the morbidity of the idea. "There might be people reading a book about us right now. And that's the choice they're begging us to make."

During the investigation of the bodies, a detail briefly went overlooked. One of Twilip's hands are balled up into a fist. Prying the fist open is a scrap of paper...

On it, Jackie finds the rest of the story from last night, and reads it aloud:

* * *

[THEME MUSIC]

Basil and Twilip get hurry into the boat in their frightened panic, sensing movement behind them.

When they turn around, Bertram and James loom over them in the light of the moon.

Twilip and Basil are hesitant, but Bertram and James don't wait for any response and begin clambering in.

In no time, both James and Bertram have gotten into the boat. Basil turns the boat on, revving the engine, but in the meantime, James begins to laugh.

"Not so fast, Twilip..."

She looks at him horrified, but as she opens her mouth to say something, she puts her hands around her neck, choking.

She's dying, the poison is working through her.

The boat begins leaving the island in darkness, leaping over the gentle waters.

Twilip collapses on the floor of the boat, dead, just as the boat disappears over the horizon.

They have escaped...

[VICTORY FOR THE MORTALS]

* * *

The paper ends there.

"Oh...so family not need me at all to beat witches," Uncle Billy mumbled. His head drooped, and he looked somewhat depressed.

"Anyway, it seem like Robbin break this wide open," he added, "We should wait for what Vinny have to say though. Maybe he even convince us not to shoot him!"

"....This is quite revealing", Maurice remarked. "It seems quite likely my sister was a witch in disguise after all, as well as Zach's killer... But that also confirms the remainder of the survivors in the tale to be not-witches. My two brothers, and..." He gave a disappointed look at James.

"Not just that, it seems we have another witch on our hands as well", he said, smirking at Vincent. "Speak up, you. We need to hear your tale now."

"It's also possible Zachary was a witch. Based on numbers he knew he couldn't win, so he used the circle on himself to avert suspicion," Bertram said. "Still, I suppose Twilip is the more suspicious of the two... It also means that, with certainty, either my own brother or my own sister was a witch," he added regretfully. "Just what happened to cause all this?"

Even though it had been asked a while ago, James responded to Maurice's question,"I don't want to reveal who I poisoned because I want to verify something and if their identity were revealed their life may be ended prematurely. However, judging from the ending I think Twilip was the head witch and barely anyone died tonight because she got killed."

Basil smiled at Maurice and Bertram "As if there could be any doubt. As I said in the story, I would never murder my own children." He looked over to Bertram. "Though the circumstances in the story did have me expecting you were a witch of some form." He shuffled his feet, a confused look on his face.

"Which for the strangest reason I feel very guilty over...so apologies for the suspicion my character levied at you."

Robin furrowed her brow. "James, Twilip died late in the night. If she was the head witch, she would have had an opportunity to use her powers before her death, I think."

"Whoa, whoa! Hold up, guys!" Vincent held his hands up defensively. His palyer had gotten up from sleeping to discover that his character was being accused of being a witch. "Just let me explain what I was doing last night, okay?

"You dreamt about me, Robin?" Vincent asked, surprised by the idea. "Color me impressed! And you can stall a person for time, huh? This will be handy in finding the witches."

And then he turns towards the others. He knew that he explain himself right away.

"Alright, let me explain what I was doing last night. I apparently was having trouble coming up with the lyrics to the song that I was working on, so I went to visit Robin to ask for some suggestions." Vincent calmly explains. "See, Robin is alive, right? So that proves that I can't be the Golden Witch."

"Uh, if that's not enough to convinces you, then here's the thing; I do have a ability, but if I explain what my ability does... The witches will surly go after me, you know." The musician said.

Basil folded his arms, mentally pushing a massive "Lynch Vincent" button.

"I would not kill my own wife!" Zachary boomed at the notion he could be one of the witches. He wrapped his arm protectively around Robin.

"Vincent, you better reveal that precious role of yours or the witches will be the least of your problems," Zachary threatened, looking rather sadly that the man he'd formerly trusted and thought he had an almost kinship with him wasn't the real Vincent. "I don't know what horrible things you might've done to my cousin, but . . . for the sake of Vincent's family, I'll make sure that guitar gets to them. Gets to who it rightly belongs to. Goodbye, 'Vincent.'"

"Why the hell would he visit Robin anyway?" Zachary wondered, leaning on the fourth wall, "Mama always said that 'witches can't kill the same person twice on the first twilight, period,' though I honestly didn't understand it. Still not sure I do, but it seems relevant."

"Can we shoot him already?" Maurice groaned, clearly in agreement with the others to vore Vincent. "There's no way this man isn't a witch. His lies are embarrassingly bad, for goodness' sake. Let's just get this over with." He shook his head.

"Hang on. Just to confirm something, I'm going to search around the house. Maybe there's a circle after all, but it failed to activate. It can't harm me anyway, so, just give me a few minutes. No need to hold back while I'm gone though, keep up the interrogation," Bertram said, before heading off.

Bertram leaves the room for a few minutes, first going to the dining room, kitchen, and cellar. He then goes upstairs to the guest bedrooms.

He opens the door to Twilip's room:

There, on the mirror above the guest vanity table, is a large, red circle drawn in paint. Around it are all the runes, as described in the story.

In the center is a twisting clover shape, with four leaves.

Bertram, despite himself, stumbled a little at the sight. Trusting his apparent immunity, he examined the circle as best he could, then returned to where everyone else was to tell them what he'd found.

Vincent groans, knowing that people won't believe him.

"Fine, you guys win. I'll tell you what my ability is. I can tell if someone is good or bad by reading their aura. And when I visited Robin, my action didn't go through because she delayed me. And you guys want to know what aura Robin is giving off? She is innocent." Vincent admitted. "Since you guys made me reveal what my ability does, the witches will no doubt go after me."

Maybe still clues lurking around to other witches," Uncle Billy explained, "Though mainly wondering if any chance Vinny victim of unfortunate happenstance here. "Actually nevermind. That unlikely. Since no one else visit Bertram then we'd need two more role blockers hiding somewhere. I guess maybe killing power split between witches."

Jacqueline had been standing idle as everyone began to commence their chatter. After getting so close to Twilips cold . . . lifeless body- she felt unmotivated to even more or speak anymore. She was highly shooken up. And in this time, she's washed her hands more than she could count on her hands and toes.

She listened as everyone spoke, processing all of this new found information in her head. So Robin revealed her role. She delayed Vincent's power by a day. And now Vincent was claiming to have already known the outcome of his action. So . . . could it be that Vincent really was a witch? It seemed more likely than unlikely.

She was highly hesitant, but with this conversation in itself, she had enough to even convince herself. "I . . . will also vote for Vincent. I'm highly apologetic for this . . ." She went back to silence after she spoke, folding her arms as she continued to think.
*coughs awkwardly*

"Yeah, I'm a victim of unforeseen happenings here, Billy. In the story, I got lynched over the will. And right here, I'm looking at being lynched based on Robin's word alone. However, Robin's word alone isn't enough to reach a conclusion." Vincent explains. "I mean, all we have was Robin's word to go on. Doesn't that seems like a really stupid move to make?"

"If Robin's a witch, by telling us she's innocent you lied and are therefore a witch. If Robin's innocent, she's not lying about her actions," Bertram reasoned. "I am only more convinced now... but I suppose I will hear Mickey out," he sighed, clearly not liking the idea.

Vincent nods at Zach when his cousin asked him to share what he managed to find in the story.

"Alright, I'll tell the truth. The full truth of what I did in the story." Vincent said as he cross his arms. "On the first night, I went to read Jackie's aura and managed to discover that she's.... innocent. So, on the second night... however.... I visited Mickey to find out what his aura can tell me..."

The musician points to Mickey. "I got you now, Mickey! Your aura tells me that... you're bad, which is suspicious! However, I didn't get to share my findings with you guys because of the will. So, there you have it. These are my findings from the story."
