Robin swallows. "What about Mickey and Lucine? They died together in the first time-loop, and we don't know how - because there was a cross circle that night. The only other times the witch circles have killed more people than they were supposed to be able to were when Maurice died along with the target."

She looks at Wyn and Twilip. "I know I've wronged you both. I'm sorry. But please, just bear with me. Help me sort this out. This could be everything. What do you know about Mickey and Lucine's roles, exactly?"

Then Robin addresses the group. "And do we know anything that can point to how they were both killed? Does it have anything to do with Twilip being knocked unconscious that night? Are we absolutely certain they both died?"

“My role is as I said. We can learn more about Luce’s role by voting for her. But I think focusing on the third twilight is a good idea. We know very little about Asher’s power, and it’s easy to assume he could’ve just killed her.”

"I think knowing what happen here could make huge difference, but I doubt either could fake their death," Uncle Billy said. "Only guess is that it have something to do with secret part of roles, but no way to find that out at this point, unless we guess them! Which is why voting for Lucy first seem like best choice here."

"Also, she not join my activity earlier. For someone telling truth about role, it should be easy. So that's another big uh oh!"

"It is my belief that Lucine has a second ability. Think about this: when Vincent was investigated, his first result simply came up as 'he visits someone and does nothing'. It wasn't until the second investigation that his disguising ability came to light. Now let's look at Lucine. She has the ability to visit someone while doing nothing, and can also hide those visits. If that were all she could do, her investigation would have gone like Vincent's; that is, her first result would be the same as Vincent and Violet, then her second would tell us about her stealthy capabilities. Instead, though, one visit was all it took to confirm both of those things, and I think that's because she has a second ability.

"I think Lucine has the ability to kill someone who visits her, in exchange for her own life. Perhaps she has to be on-guard to achieve this, which is how Basil followed her without harm that one time. This would explain how we've never been able to find the Golden Witch: they had the power to kill themselves all along, just not by using the primary witch kill ability. Mickey visited her on that twilight, and then both he and she died. On the first twilight of the last cycle, Jackie visited her and they both died. Billy, meanwhile, visited Lucine as well, which is where the 'extra kill' goes: Billy couldn't die in a first twilight for a second time."

Lucine sipped her tea while looking at Billy with her scary red eyes and then she removed her vote for Zachary for some very in character reason.

Robin looks at Gloria's shoes.

"Gloria, is... there some way you're a part of all of this? Have you been able to influence the events that took place after your death in any way?" She tries to look her friend in the eye, but doesn't quite manage it. "I don't think you have, but - I can't really be sure of anything."

"Yes, my ritual should let us know if someone starts with the power! Which would definitely tell us if they are the Golden Witch!"

"Don't be silly, sweetie. Your bestie Gloria wasn't involved in this massacre at all, and she regrets writing you all a letter from the witches, to be honest! I thought it would be fun, but I can see how it could lead to some psychological torment, I suppose."

Vincent listens to the ongoing discussion as he eats some grapes.

"To be frank, I'm curious about Lucine's ability as well. So, I'll be placing an vote for Lucine." The musician said as he snaps his fingers.

"Oh, I got another question for Auntie Gloria." He said before he look to Gloria. "Why the name change from Schumate to Moonview? If Forsythia Schumate is our ancestors, then our last name would be Schumate, right? But our current last name is Moonview. Why is that?"

Basil glances at Mickey "It's a safe move if a fellow witch is doomed, plus no doubt they have secret ways of communicating. Lucine's probably realised the jig is up and has ordered her cronies to turn on her to make themselves seem more innocent down the line." he suggested before turning round and giving Bertram a respectful nod.

"I like your theory brother. If Lucine can kill whoever visits her, that would explain a couple of the deaths in the past."

Robin nods. "Thank you. So now we run into that question of how Basil saw Lucine. I think it's safe to say it's not because of Basil's ability superseding Lucine's - my best guess is that that was Vincent in disguise."

The Second Vote

Vote Totals

Lucine|James|Violet|Bertram|Maurice|Mickey|Allister|Briggs|Archer|Billy|Wyn|Vincent|Twilip|Asher

Zachary|Basil

No Vote|Robin|Zachary

Abstain|Lucine|Jackie

Jackie looks a little bit sad as she watches her daughter be called forward as a witch. It doesn't seem like Jackie has really been able to pay attention. More so than anyone else, she was really hoping to get some peace in the afterlife and have fun with her family. She quietly abstains in all of the commotion. Seems like she'll be staying out of the arguing and deductions.

Gloria clutches her heart, seeing her daughter-in-law, "Oh Jacqueline! I'm so sorry! I understand that having your children being accused of witchcraft is no easy thing to sit through for very good mothers such as ourselves. Even if this ends poorly, I hope you can talk to your Mama Gloria."

There's a few seconds of silence as Gloria wipes tears from her own face. In the silence, Lucine continues to sip away at her tea. She stares past everyone with her piercing red eyes. Something is on her mind, but she's inscrutable. If she's worried for everyone losing to the witches at this moment, she's not showing it. And that, perhaps, could be the most damning evidence of all.

"Sweet Lucine! How is Grandmother's favorite granddaughter?" Gloria asks, approaching Lucine in her chair at the table. There's no response from the young girl.

Standing up in her heels, Gloria's head is about level with Lucine's sitting down. Lucine can see her grandmother's red eyes are very much like her own.

Gloria waves her hands in a wide circle and the magic circle appears around Lucine, sipping away. The black runes dance around Lucine. They envelop her, bathing the room in a shadowy blackness.

[SCENE MUSIC]

There's a moment where nobody can see anything, followed by a dazzling light of clarity.

The light fades, and in a patch of shimmering purplish light in the center of the room is an elegantly-dressed blonde girl with dark butterflies dancing around her. It's Lucine, who holds a hand up to her face to stifle a giggle. She doesn't spill adrop of tea though.

Even crazier though than Lucine's change in appearance is the large, imposing portrait, up on the dining-room wall. It's fifteen feet tall, dwarfing everyone in the room. It glows with a subtle, dark light. It's truly a delight to behold, with such craftsmanship. It's too bad that it gives everyone a sense of dread.

Image

A voice shakes the room.

"Lucine was the Golden Witch. She lead the witches to kill her family. She was trained at ayound age not to draw negative attention.

Lucine started out each arc with the killing power of the witches. Her visits could not be seen by observers.

She was and is sided with the witches.
"

Even though this should be a triumph for the mortals, the insidiousness of the truth was so horrifying that Gloria is caught off guard and doesn't respond.

She just blinks in disbelief at her granddaughter.

Vincent's eyes widen in shock when it was revealed that Lucine was the Golden Witch.

"Well, I'll be damned. We were right to vote for her... We got one of the witches." The musician said as he stares at Lucine in disbelief.

And the the grim reality of his predicament hits Vincent in the face right away.

"Oh... Fuck me..." was all Vincent could say

Gloria wildly gesticulates, not knowing what to say at first. In goofy panic. She takes a pear from the table by Lucine before skittering away from the Golden Witch herself.

"Well, we know what not-so-sweet Lucine (sorry darling, but it's the truth!) is capable of! Somebody could have helped her, perhaps?"

Bertram could scarcely believe his eyes. He had voted for her, yes, but he'd hoped against hope that the vote would only prove her innocence. He stared with dismay at Lucine... until he gave way to anger. He slammed a fist onto the table, splattering droplet of water from his cuff onto whoever was opposite him. "Dammit! After all I did for you, all the prospects I offered, this is how you repay me? Repay your mother? Why? What could possibly possess you to do such a thing?"

Lucine, paying no mind to her grandmother or the five butterflies flying around her, calmly set her teacup down.

She brushed a few bows off herself, and then took her hat off and set it on the ground. Wide brimmed hats are for witch hunters, after all.

Then, she turned her attention to her family, and gave them a genuine, radiant smile. "... Well done. Perhaps I was wrong to say our entire family was a shame to our witch hunting blood."

Her smile vanished as quickly as it came, switching out for her usual well practiced blank look. "Regardless, you did get a few key details wrong in all of this. It was very irritating, being unable to correct you. Know this, I am the real Lucine Moonview. I am not an impostor. I have never had another Name."

Then, back to smiling. "But that is a trifling detail. Now that you know at least part of the truth, I can finally welcome you properly."

She stood up from her chair, standing before the massive painting of her, before doing an elegant curtsy. "I, Lucine Moonview, Golden Witch, welcome you to the Golden Land! I dearly hope you will learn not to squander my kindness and keep trying to leave."

... It's kinda creepier with the smile.

"You. You are the reason." Lucine answered, not missing a beat. "You, of all the people here, are simply drenched in sin, father. You hold no love in your heart. You should be grateful, I brought you to the Golden Land out of the love in my heart to cure your heartless nature."

Basil crossed his arms and watched on silently. Given how Bertram and Lucine had turned out it was hard to argue with Lucine on her issues with her parenting.

"Right that's enough Lucine. You might have a grudge with Bertram but you've got nothing on the rest of us here. Why don't you just go off to hell or whatever and leave us be to sort this out." he said maintaining his calm as well as he could.
