"Lucine..."

Robin hangs her head. "I-- We failed you. All of us." Her voice is very quiet. "I'm so sorry."

'Mickey' wanted to laugh. He wanted to mock his father and mother--lambast them for what their 'golden child' had become. This was more than a perfect outcome. It was everything he could've dreamed of. The despair on his father's face, he had wanted to see it for years.

...but he had gotten no satisfaction. All he felt was...pity. Or was it empathy?

So instead of speaking to his parents, he looked at them with solemn eyes. Eyes that said he knew there were no words he could offer right now. But that he was still here, still present.

Basil crossed his arms and watched on silently. Given how Bertram and Lucine had turned out it was hard to argue with Lucine on her issues with her parenting.

"Right that's enough Lucine. You might have a grudge with Bertram but you've got nothing on the rest of us here. Why don't you just go off to hell or whatever and leave us be to sort this out." he said maintaining his calm as well as he could.

"Yes I do, uncle. You, too, should be grateful. I brought you here to heal your broken family." Lucine answered. "The Golden Land can bring back the love of your children. The life of your wife. Your blindness is, quite frankly, disgusting. You are a swine who sneers at the medicine for all the illnesses you refuse to see."

Archer silently hangs his head. He has no place to speak. He is no Moonview, anything he could add would be out of line.

So all he did was silently stand, keeping himself composed as best as he was able.

"Mrs. Teacher, please do not be sad! You did not fail. Actually, I am not actually aware of any sins you needed to cure!" Lucine answered, cheerfully. "I brought you here so uncle and grandmother would not be lonely. And, well, if I may admit to being so selfish, because I would deeply miss our lessons."

And so, Lucine admitted to killing her teacher because she was too nice.

"What?" Bertram blustered, springing to his feet and glowering at his daughter. "I have done nothing but uphold the honour and pride of this family! I have nothing to be ashamed of, other than raising a murderous psychopath like you! I was to do right by you after Mickey turned out the way he did... Where did I go wrong?"

"My my, answer me this, father: If a painter creates nothing but failure after failure, would you believe him when he claims the problem is in the canvas, and not himself?" Lucine asked.

Basil sighed and crossed his arms tighter "The girls completely mad...what would a 13 year old know of life?"

He turned his head to Bertram "Don't listen to her Bertram, she must have learned her craft somewhere. She might be the most powerful one but rest assured there's a teacher of a different sort here who poisoned her mind in the first place."

Zach was startled out of his melancholy by the revelation that Lucine was the golden witch. He had been too distraught to even engage in any more discussion, since he believed he would be next on the chopping block.

He continued to be left speechless as the questions and Lucine's answers were fired back and forth. He slowly moved closer to his wife, hoping her warmth might bring any sort of comfort to his very cold heart and body.

"What . . . did I do wrong . . . ?" Zachary wondered aloud, weakly. "I never wanted to be a bad person, but I feel incredibly guilty . . . for doubting Twilip, for being rude and judgey . . . even if I was trying to avenge Robin, it still feels . . . wrong. Like I could've been better."

Briggs could do nothing but laugh at the situation. Lucine's words rang deep within him.

"...I don't think anything she's said is wrong," Briggs sighed, stretching his arms out. "I have watched this family wallow in mud for years and years. And the total lack of self-awareness...it's mind-boggling to see day after day."

Briggs looked at Lucine with pity in his eyes. "The mere idea of having a father so horrible that brings a child to corruption is disgusting. I have no doubt that if it weren't for his influence, you could have grown into something better than...this."

"You are a coward, uncle." Lucine answered, though I think that was a rhetorical question. "You are weighed down by your own fear, and your helplessness is a burden of your creation."

Flashing another smile, she continued. "But it doesn't matter! In the Golden Land, you will never be judged again. You can be free, fearless. You should be grateful."

"I can't say that I think your reasoning is wrong or misplaced, Lucine, because it isn't. How your father treated you is unfair. How he treated Mickey is unfair. How most of this... this damn family acts is unfair in general. But... bringing us all here to slaughter us like goddamn lambs isn't the right way to go about it! Death shouldn't be the answer!" Asher exclaimed. "I know it's damn hypocritical of me to say that, but... I wouldn't have done anything like taking another's life if not for this!"

He took in a deep breath to cool himself down, closing his eyes as he did so. He then reopened them to look at his young cousin.

"... We all have blood on our hands due to this. Lynching everyone we had the slightest suspicion of, me, killing anyone I believed suspicious... This isn't justice. This family has wronged so many people, you included, but... to make us partake in this sick, twisted game is... absurd!"

He sighed and shook his head.

"This whole family deserved a damn wake up call. Arrogant, prestigious, snobbish -- those words don't even begin to describe this damn family. And like Briggs said, if you hadn't been corrupted by this family, you could've been... more than this. ... But I suppose it's too late for me to go on another spiel. What was my sin, if I might ask? And Violet's, too?"

Robin stares at Lucine.

But I did fail. I had three years to reach her, and I failed.

Everyone in her life has failed her.

Between righteous fury for what Lucine has done, confusion that someone so young could be so far gone, and, most of all, sympathy for a girl who thought that murdering her whole family was justice - she is speechless.

Robin was a child trapped in a horrible home, once. If she had had magic... What lengths would she have gone to to get out?

Slowly, Robin makes her way around the table to where Lucine is standing. And without a word, she wraps her niece in a gentle hug. She weeps silently as she holds her.

We didn't deserve this.

But neither did you.

"You both bear very little sin, cousin. I brought you here simply for your own benefit." Lucine smiled. "You miss your mother. I know you do, dearly. And I can give her back. I can resurrect the love your family lost. You can be whole again! You should be grateful. I am here to grant you your wish."

"What the heck, kid, I never even met you before now!" Uncle Billy shouted, "Typical rich person attitude to view large death as statistic rather than tragedy."

"Anyway, I think we should try to determine what happen to Lucine at beginning of this arc. I mean obviously Gloria shoot her in fact with shotgun, but we need to know how this able to happen. I can't help but wonder if Vinny mysterious visit to Evillucy have something to do with it. It seem like we know everything about his ability though."

Archer nods. "The only ones that visited her were Vincent, with his disguise, yourself, and Jacqueline?" Archer asks though he's reasonably sure this is the case.

"In that case, one of you three were likely behind it, or there is yet another murderer whom is undetectable, which I find unlikely."

Robin sniffles and backs up a step, keeping a hand on Lucine's shoulder. "Th-that's the problem, Lucine. If we stay here, we are squandering our chance. We can come here after we die naturally. But this? This is not supposed to be our time." She gives her niece a sad smile. "We still have lives. Dreams. Futures. We can't give those up - they're the most precious things, and the only things, we've ever really had."

She steps back once more, to give the girl her personal space. "And that's why we need to find out who the rest of the witches are. I wish - I wish you would tell us, but..."

We both know you won't.

"Okay." Robin takes a deep breath. "First things first. I thought the Golden Witch couldn't die on the first night of an arc. I agree with Billy - we need to figure out how that happened. Bertram was wrong about you being able to find a loophole with your own ability, so... it must have been a fellow witch, right?"

"Arguing with you is pointless. How can I appeal to the reason of a monster?" Bertram shouted at Lucine, before dropping back down into his seat with a huff. "I know how to proceed from here, and it's not by listening to you. I will oust this blight from our family.

"How about this? I suggested before that Lucine might kill whoever visits her. Perhaps that's an ability a different witch has? Lucine need only visit them to die whenever she needs to."

Twilips smirks at the now certainly witch, Lucine. "Sin yadda yadda who the hell cares? See if i got this right? You used your power to kill yourself during that last massacre, but the targets were chosen at random by mom's corpse and her gun thereby making it an accident instead of suicide."

Violet looks at Asher with a hint of sadness. "We weren't brought here by our own will, remember? It's not us at fault. For anything. I don't blame you for what you did, for whatever little it counts. I don't want to say I empathize with Lucine's weird... ambitions, though."

Violet brings a hand to her chin. "Even then, Bertram, that doesn't help us or help our odds. We'd still be back at guessing a suspect."

"As a side note," Gloria says, her mouth full of juicy pear. "Due to chaos theory or whatever, I don't know exactly how it works, but in every timeline our little baby witch Lucine here never chose the same targets on the first twilight. Otherwise the timelines would have been to similar, which would have made the universe feel bored. Of course, she may have been redirected."

"The cycles made me wonder if I was doing something wrong, so I made sure to do things slightly differently every time. To find the perfect course of action." Lucine nodded, completely missing the point.

Vincent clears his throat, remembering that Gloria still haven't answered his question about the family name.

"Auntie Gloria, you still haven't answered my question about the name change from Schumate to Moonview." The musician reminded Gloria of the question he asked some time ago.

"Okay, well maybe it help to discuss Lucy actions," Uncle Billy shouted, "And I mean her real actions! Because all stuff she said about examining corpses is totally fake."

Arc 1:
On Twilight 1, Lucine targets Robin, Violet, Briggs, and Billy.
On Twilight 2, Lucine targets Jacqueline and Asher. Basil faking his death is probably separate.
On Twilight 3, Lucine targets Mickey and somehow dies also.
The witch kill power is passed on to a new witch.

Arc 2:
T1 - Lucine targets Archer, Twilip, Allister, and a mystery person who somehow lives.
T2 - Lucine targets Basil and James
T3 - Lucine targets Robin
T4 - Lucine targets Violet
T5 - Lucine targets Bertram. Maurice gets caught in the crossfire.

Arc 3:
T1 - Lucine targets James, Jackie, and somehow also dies. She likely also targets Basil.
The witch kill power is passed on to a new witch.

"There are two things I want note here. If Lucy self-killed in same way in both Arcs, that mean two kills in Arc 3 unaccounted for. If Arthur stop one and I stop another, this could work!

"Secondly, anytime Lucy have Big Witch powers, she can sink a kill into Barty without being spotted. This could allow Asser fake his death in first arc, and possibly has other uses."

"Meemah, answer whatever you can." 'Mickey' asked of Gloria. "Does the WHAM know who the witches are? Do the witches know who the WHAM is? Can they communicate?"

"Is this really best time for genealogy discussion?" Uncle Billy said, brow furrowed in annoyance. "She probably just decide to take name of community she founded. And there many decades for Schumate name to disappear through marriage anyway! You on thin ice already, Vinny, so unless you have cool thing to share, keep dumb questions in your pocket!"

The witch kill power is passed on to a new witch.

Robin taps her cheek. "I have a feeling that another witch's assistance is how Lucine was able to be killed by magic. And I also think it was one other witch who could do this. I think this person caused her death in the third arc.

"The first arc, though... That could have been a witch or a mortal. And we know that James has never claimed to kill Lucine. So... it would have to be either Asher or one of the witches... assuming Asher's not a witch." Her brows furrow. "If he is a witch, then... that would explain how Zach died, too. He simply faked his death. But it doesn't explain Lucine's death, because Asher was busy attacking Allister.

"So... I believe it must have been the work of a witch, and whether he's mortal or not, not Asher.

"If we rule out myself, Violet, Briggs, Billy, and Jackie for already being dead; Bertram, Basil, James, and Twilip for being confirmed mortal; and Asher for being either dead or preoccupied with Allister, we are left with seven people: Wyn, Zachary, Allister, Mickey, Maurice, Vincent, and Archer. So let's narrow it down from there. Who, among those eight, could or could not have killed Lucine?"

Gloria ignores her child and hot butler for a moment, instead indulging Vincent on family history.

"You see, Forsythia thought Moonview was a cute name!! That's the name of the village from the story. So she changed it!!"

"They cannot communicate. The WHAM would just be a follower or worshipper of the witches, not able to fully coordinate with them. They would know one witch, but that knowledge might not show up as a power during investigations..."

"We already know everything there is to know about Bylet, Morris, and Vinny's role, so I think we can take them off list," Uncle Billy said, "Beyond that, I not sure how to make progress."

"Igiari!" 'Mickey' shouted. It appears the Golden Land taught him Japanese. "We never checked for sure the specifics of Allister or Asher's power. From what we 'know', Allister woulda been dead twilight 3 if he had been attacked by Asher twilight 2. But he didn't die twilight 4, because he was not 'attacked' twilight 3. We don't know anything there."

"Interesting to know where the Moonview family name came from. Thank you for answering my question, Auntie Gloria." Vincent said as he smile at Gloria.

Then he listen to Robin's theory about who could or could not kill Lucine.

"I don't have any idea on who could or could not kill Lucine." The musician said as he drums his fingers across the table. "Besides, Billy already proved that it can't be me."
