She gave her sister a significant look, a signal she expected her to recognize.
After a few moments of staring her down, she said, "Go!" and her left hand shot forward to grab a sandwich, which she started to try to stuff into her mouth whole while her right hand reached for another. It was a race to eat the rest of the sandwich tower!

Deianira's expression was more of a wolf eying it's prey, eyes squinted and a lips in a toothly snarl. It seemed that even as they got older, they still hadn't lost their competitive rivalry. Like two children fighting over who got the last piece of cake. Deianira may be the serious type, but even she took a sandwich eating competition seriously. She'd devour that sandwich tower. And she'd show her sister who's boss.
She watched Lori's expression, her hand already etching to grab one of those sandwiches. And like a bull finally being removed from it's cage, she grabbed at the sandwich tower after Lori's exclamation. This was war. And not just any war, a war between siblings. This would go down one way or the other. And they were about to find out. Deianira stuffed her face as fast as she could, her eyes burning with the need to win. She had to win. She must win. She wouldn't allow herself to be the loser.

And then she realized her critical mistake. She had slowed down and given Deianira a chance to take the lead.
The smaller of the two sisters let out some sort of surprised sound, muffled by the sandwiches in her mouth, and redoubled her efforts. But despite her best performance, Lori simply couldn't catch up.
