Link's taking it all, no doubt. This is a great format, the old one was getting stagnant. Other than the usual winners, I have no idea who's going forward. Of course, the final 8 is the same as it always is.

Mudkip will probably make it into Round 2, Bidoof might. L-block might.
But that's it. And there are just as many people who think that the joke characters not named CATS should die a fiery death in the first round.
Still, I maintain that it's not the board voters who decide it. It's te casual voters. Which is why despite wanting someone other than Link to win, he always does.
I've been a member of the Contest Board community for years now. Trust me on this.
er. Zetto, Cloud doesn't constantly win. He's easily the second strongest behind Link but that's it.
Cloud won over Sephiroth thanks to handy SFF in 2k3, FF7 took the Games Contest (Spring 2k4 I think?) but other than that, it's been Zelda Zelda Zelda.

If you have to rally, rally around Mudkip. It's more of an established fad, it doesn't totally suck like Bidoof does, and it moving on to Round 2 doesn't take away from any actual good characters.
But really, in the Bidoof fourpack...
Realistically? I wouldn't be surprised to see Link get 90%+ of the votes, leaving J, Edgey, and Bidoof to scavenge the rest. /v/ could pull the win there, certainly, but not against anything that isn't complete fodder.
Honestly, face it... while they might go somewhere in the unpredictable lower rounds, the top rounds are pretty exact and set in stone; and aren't going to change (unfortunately). The only surprise I see this year is Master Chief going a long way, because of Halo 3 boosting him as well as the contest format being CRAZY beneficial to him (MC has a base of voters that will support him over ANYTHING... but he also has a lot of people who antivote him. In a one-on-one that's crippling, but if there are three people to spread out those antivotes, no coordinated effort, and he doesn't need to come in first to go on anyway? He's got everything in his corner to at least make it to the Elite 8).

I use like, four alts at a time, and I think used Vlastokov the most around Board 8. But yeah, I mostly lurked. PotD is where I actually posted most of my time if on any social board.
