Rush Hour 3 as well. Hilarious movie. Here's to hoping there's a sequel.
Who? Wright? Yeah, I remember him, I hear he's busy lately. You know, not to ring my own bell, but I sort of taught him everything he knows. I'm sure he's grateful.

Superbad.

ONCE YOU WATCH THIS MOVIE YOU CAN'T UNWATCH IT.

The funniest movie I've seen in awhile, but it REALLY lives up to its title. Dirtiest movie I've seen, too >_>

The last I saw at the theatre:

Ratatouille - 4/5

Rémy (Patton Oswalt) is a rat, constantly risking life in an expensive French restaurant because of his love of good food, as well as a desire to become a chef. Yet, obviously, this is a rather tough dream for a rat. But opportunity knocks when a young boy named Linguini (Lou Romano), who desperately needs to keep his job at the restaurant, despite his lack of cooking abilities, discovers and partners the young Rémy. Its up to the two of them to avoid the insane head chef, bring the rest of Rémy's family up to his standards, win his partner a girl, and, of course, produce the finest ratatouille in all of France.

The short feature preceding this, Lifted, involving an alien spaceship, is brilliant, now that WAS funny! Not wanting to put a dampner on things, but I didn't actually find Ratatouille as funny as previous Pixar films such as Monsters, Inc., Toy Story or The Incredibles.
OK, there were some funny scenes/gags in it and great slapstick when Linguini is "controlled" by Rémy tugging on his hair underneath his chef's hat, but it isn't a laff-riot in my opinion and quite a lot goes by without many obvious jokes.
However, strangely, that may work in the film's favour as where it is strongest is in its story - the well-rounded characters that show more subtlety than most real human actors, the human characters like loveable loser Linguini and female chef Colette (Janeane Garofalo), as well as our rat hero Rémy, and some scenes which are surprisingly emotional and touching. Pixar has always been very good at that sort of thing and I was impressed by the complexity and beleivability of the relationships in the film - for example, some moments of shy arkwardness between Linguini and Colette will strike a chord with any nervous guy who has fallen in love, or the scenes involving Rémy and his family which are perhaps even more appealing to adults than to children.
Peter O'Toole steals the show as slimy food critic Anton Ego, himself a swipe at critics.
Overall, despite the lack of belly laughs, it's a very enjoyable, fine animated film.

On DVD:

End of Days: 3.5/5

Cheesy, to be sure - a cross between The Terminator, The Omen and Rosemary's Baby, but really rather enjoyable. Though revisiting this after so long (hadn't seen it since its release), it feels less a typical action film (though Arnie is his usual self) more like a religious/supernatural thriller with Arnie plonked in the middle. The crafty timing of the original cinema release (late 1999) probably helped the film. Gabriel Byrne is fun, hamming it up :D
It does put me in mind of similar films though (Crimson Rivers, Devil's Advocate, Stigmata etc).
Nick and Maya - Friends and Lovers....

I've never seen the movie in theaters, so I thought this would be a good experience. It was...but I could only see it once.

Mr. Bean's Holiday. I loved that film! It was so funny. There was way too many kids there though... I guess that's what I get for going on a Sunday.

Week before last Sunday I saw The Last Legion, it was OK but not really at all memorable.

Across the Universe...

How easy it is to take the lyrics so literally and yet grasp so little of their true meaning... The only decent part of this movie was a bit of eye candy and some lovely cover songs.

The last movie I saw was Ratatouille. Loved it.
I don't go to the movies anymore; no time, and too expensive for a 50/50 chance of it being good or not. ;/

I havn't been to the cinema for a very long time... I think the last time I went was the Harry Potter 5 movie. Quite a disapointment, it has to be said.

Spending my time on the 'net trying to catch up with my sheer lack of anime-age. :keiko:

I just saw Mr. Bean's Holiday. Pretty enjoyable and I laughed quite a few times. It was nice to go to a theater that showed older movies at a bargain price. The theater didn't have that many people at all either.

Fred Claus. It was hilarious, with a bit of heartwarming goodness at the end. (As for the price, there are certain perks to having friends that work at the theater. :godot: )
